Two guitar players, Dave Mustaine and Chris Poland (on this album). The reason you hear more is because they layer the guitar tracks in the studio. The main rhythm guitars play throughout the song and when it's time for the solo(s) they layer that on top of the rhythm guitars. When they play live one guitarist will play the rhythm while the other does the solo. Dave Mustaine also handles the vocals as well as playing guitar. He was the original lead guitar player for Metallica back when they first started.

You would enjoy watching this one performed live. Dave Mustaine was originally lead guitar for Metallica. I saw them in early '83 in SF, when Dave was still with them. I remember Cliff's bass solo and thinking what? Bass players don't do solos! But they blew me away...I was impressed and so I bought my first album of theirs, "Kill 'em All", when it came out later that year.

Megadeth is a lot of little solos, just how Dave does it. This is also a period where it was common to record one guitar on the left and one on the right so you could tell who was soloing at any point. Slayer did that very consistently through their career
@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 3 жыл бұрын
This Megadeth track summed up the attitude of metal in the era of President Reagan (cabbie-turned-prez) ... Reagan and the political class were so wrapped up Dave Mustaine was so creative, despite he and the band trippin' on h in 1985/ '86... The guitars were done by Dave Mustaine and Chris Poland, but what bands do in the studio is, they double track their rhythms and guitar harmonies w/ overdubs, so that the sound on the record comes out fuller and tighter. Iron Maiden have said that most Maiden songs have up to 6 guitar lines tracked, that was why when they upgraded from 2 guitars to 3, they had plenty of choices to play live in concert. Queen used that technique of overdubs to 'layer' vocals and instruments on their records to give their songs a big sound, even tho only 4 musicians were involved.

I think Megadeth had a lot of political themes in their lyrics. Even their name has political origins. It came from the phrase, "Arsenal of megadeath", which lead singer/Dave Mustaine saw in a pamphlet by former Senator and Presidential candidate Alan Cranston and refers to a hypothetical body count following a nuclear war.

Maiden has three guitars because Jannick Gers replaced Adrian Smith in the 90s, and when Smith came back they didn't kick Gers out to make use of him. Maybe because they liked more guitar sounds, but if Smith had never left, or if he'd never come back, they'd probably still have two guitars.
@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 3 жыл бұрын
@@JasonBenesh That's debatable... Steve Harris wanted 3 guitars in Iron Maiden back in 1976. But they had trouble keeping 2 guitarists back then. 'If Smith had not left' never happened... so...

When this single was released there was a huge 60's "flower power" nostalgia vibe going on in the U.S. You could go into nearly any store and find peace symbols for sale; necklaces, earrings, t-shirts, temporary tatoos, etc.. This was also near the end of the Cold-War, and tensions were high between the U.S. and Russia. The U.S. President at the time had been caught on a hot-mike during a radio interview making a joke about bombing Moscow (he was unaware that the station had come back from commercial). The in-your-face message of the song is why do we find it so easy to divide ourselves, and make it so difficult to find common ground, while using the idea of peace as a commodity to make a profit from.

Mustaine brainstormed the tune title while smashing with a young lady "who felt sorry for him While he was homeless and hunching down at the distribution center where Megadeth practiced, Mustaine would some of the time exploit some assistance or two. It was on one such event that motivation struck and metal history was changed until the end of time. "There was a young lady who had compassion for me and now and again would call up and request that I come over, and we would go through the night together and she'd feed me and I'd get tidied up and stuff like that," "Also I woke up one morning and I saw a magazine on her end table and it said, 'Peace sells, nobody's buying it.' And I went, 'Wow, I have to compose a melody concerning that.' So I switched the words up a tad and I began composing the tune, obviously I was inhabiting the practice building like I said, so I had no paper, and I took a pen and composed the verses on the divider there. Right up 'til today, I actually keep thinking about whether the woman who had that practice building was adequately shrewd to remove that divider and immortalize it." Though Ellefson plays the immediately unmistakable bass line for Megadeth's exemplary single "Peace Sells," it was Mustaine who concocted it. "We were up at [Killing Is My Business co-producer] Karat Faye's home," Ellefson reviewed to Classic Rock. "I had this BC Rich Eagle bass that we'd tore the frets out of. I recall Dave got the bass and begun playing what might turn into the Peace Sells bass line, very much like that." Mustaine composed the tune to challenge standard view of metalheads as "dumbassess" Megadeth have been known as a great deal of things throughout the long term, however one descriptor that Mustaine really embraces is the expression "thinking man's band," which isn't really is business as usual when you realize that he wrote "Peace Sells" unequivocally to dissipate the famous thought of metalheads as stupid dimwits and to exhibit the knowledge that metal fans are able to do. "I composed this is on the grounds that I was worn out on individuals ridiculing metal overall and deriding individuals who are metal fans," "It was difficult for me to watch the manner in which we were generalized on TV, similarly as numb nuts. Generally, I feel that a ton of artists are extremely astute and exceptionally gifted. It's a bummer the manner in which individuals had been generalized."

In case no one attempted it here's the meaning of the song: don't judge a book by its cover. Just as too many people have been judged wrongly simply by the color of thier skin also people have been judged wrongly by thier appearance or music taste. Being black DOES NOT mean you are a violent drug user and being a metal loving headbands does not mean I'm a satanic devil loving anarchist. The people in charge sell peace but secretly sow division and the intelligent person knows this so he (or she) aint buying.

Did you know that Dave Mustaine (lead singer of Megadeth) is a born again Christian? When I first heard him talk about it, it was one of the best things I ever heard.
