1991 in Moscow. It was the first time a western metal band had been allowed to put on a concert in the Soviet Union, and a people who'd been isolated for nearly 50 years got the chance to experience the world outside of communist Russia. You bet they all showed up. :D Fun Fact: Metallica holds the record for playing a show where the highest percentage of the population of the continent were in attendance. They played in Antarctica, to a group of 120 scientists at Carlini Station, in 2013. They also became the first band to play a concert on every continent on Earth.

80s and 90s metal bands are not everyone's cup of tea. It not called pop (popular music) for a reason. I would say anyone from any background would know Adult contemporary and soft rock. All the hall and oats and phil collins/ Genesis Michael Jackson all that music I would say is well known

This concert took place at the Tushino airfield in the Moscow region, if you look closely, you can see a green lawn in the background. And it looks like a desert because it was the first concert of Western Rock bands in Russia, not only Metallica performed there. And there were 1.6 million people at the concert, so it's like a desert.
