Any song from their Wacken 2013 is a good option. That gig was legendary and every song performed there is the best performance of that song ever. I personally like the Ghost River best but the show opener Dark Chest of Wonders is also really good. If you like it more pop like, try Storytime. As for the "Floor has some grit", she can do proper deathcore vocals, too, but Nightwish doesn't have such in their songs. One great example of her growls is Misery's No Crime but sadly there's no pro recording of that but only a smartphone recording with clipped audio. I don't know if it's worth making a reaction video but if you want to check it out, search for "Revamp: Misery's no Crime. @ Mezz Breda 17-01-2014".

Totally agree! The. US music scene is.dominated by Rap Music and Auto Tuned Pop music! Nightwish is one of the Top Tier bands in the world...there were 82,000 fans at this concert where they were the Headliner of this music fest that evening! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Hi from Germany, where the legendary Wacken Festival is at home. Now you had a small intro into a musical world that changes lifes. Although I am not officially part of the Nightwish army my heart and soul got infected by this song so I cannot be without a daily dose of Nightwish. Floor Jansen, the singer, came from the Netherlands and is for sure one of the best female singers I ever had the pleasure to listen to. She is truly the metal queen, but also providing us with some real good stuff in Solo projects. I never was a fan of Disney music, but her cover of 'Into the unknown' from the movie Frozen 2 - man! - should see it. So thank you for your reaction and my best wishes for a hell of a ride on the nightwish train!

well, that festival was a blast 85'000 metal heads. I was in third, fourth row and enjoyed the show. one of the best concerts of Nightwish. specially because of the awesome drummer Jukka. he was such an emotional and melodic player. his drumkit was awesome and sounded amazing. also his off beat work and contrast of slow gentle work and then going in full heavy is so amazing.

What you have just witnessed? The Valkyrie Goddess (Floor Jansen she would say, I am just Floor) conducting 82,000 people and then blessing them with her vocals. She is so versatile, you have heard nothing yet, she is a classically trained vocalist that can and has performed opera arias, go completely metal on you and even growl. She can sing any style she chooses. Nightwish is a great great band from Finland, and again tremendously versatile. Every song is a new story, no filler songs, all good to great in their own right. They still killing it, currently coming out with a new album, and they headline all around the world.

Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. And the master of this magic is: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people (one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany). SoCal contingent of the Nightwish Army bringing you greetings and Holiday Cheer. YES, Nightwish IS great! I’m pushing 70 and grown up hearing and seeing some great bands in my time. I can say without hesitation that Nightwish is the best band of this early 21st Century. I enjoyed your reaction, especially once you remembered to jump back a few seconds after each of your commentary pauses. Gabriel has a great list of suggested songs for you to hear. All I can add is this: the 2013 Wacken concert was a very special and magical concert, where every performance is near perfection, from start to finish. And, if a Nightwish song was performed at that concert it is the version you should react to (there might be one or two exceptions- 2019’s “I Want My Tears Back Now” live in Buenos Aires comes to mind.) Get down this rabbit hole and go deep. You have a lot of fantastic music to catch up on!

NW has longer or extended intro's in most of their songs. Floor was relatively recent addition at this concert. She had been about 9-10 in game at this point. Was meant to be a stand-in for rest of the tour. Anette was let go at end of 2012. There's a documentary called Please learn the setlist in 48 hours ,where Floor actually had 48hrs time to learn setlist before her 1st show in Seattle. But in this concert specifically there were very few higher harmony lines done by Floor since she was so new. After the tour was ended she was selected as Nightwish'es new front woman, also Troy Donockley was added to member status after being with this band over 10 years. He is an multi instrumentalist. You didn't see him in this song tho. So they are 6 piece band these days.

I discovered this band through a reaction video to this performance about a year ago. Highly recommend you continue to react to them and I will subscribe in that hope. This band will just greatly enrich your life. I think there should be an extra interest for a drummer. The two they have had are this guy (who is outstanding) and the guy that this guy took lessons from! How much better could they be with their drummers?!! The answer is none...None more better...Heh..."Storytime" next, then "Romanticide" from this same concert...

Floor Jansen was only with the band for less the 9 months when doing this song but she was already a rock legend in her own right having been the lead singer of her own 2 metal bands and starting off at 16 singing in metal bands. She actually studied at the Dutch Rock academy and added on 2 years conservatorium studying opera. She’s from the Netherlands but the band is mostly from Finland except for the multi instrumentalist Troy who is from England. When she was not working as lead singer she was a vocal coach. So she’s extremely knowledgable on how to use and look after her voice (her instrument) to her best advantage. She is married to the Swedish drummer of Sabaton, an all male metal band. I know that she has worked with them by lending her voice to the “The Future of warfare” from 2019.

Floor Janson is the queen of the female vocalists. They all want to sound like her. She started the whole female fronted metal band scene in Europe! She is the Goddess of symphonic metal!

This concert was essentially the singer's (Floor Jansen) final audition. She had been given 48 hours to learn the entire set and this was the first big European concert. So the fan base had never seen her before. She was stepping into a situation where a previous singer had been fired and the backlash from fans had almost driven the keyboard player to suicide. So there was pressure, and before the concert she was on the verge of running away. As it turned out she performed like she had been part of the band her whole life.

The 48h story is mostly true for when she first stepped in, the keyboard player almost driven into suicide refers to 2005 situation and is once again wildly inaccurate - he had to publicly slam this rumour and clarified it is absolutely false. Some fanatics take his lyrics and create a whole alternate universe to run with as gospel 😂

@@roeehsi It really is a shame that some fans of this band blow things so badly out of proportion. They're extremely talented and no exaggerations are needed. I'm sure there will be someone claiming Floor stands at 6'2" plus 5 or 6 inch heels again, as well. The 48 hours thing is completely true if you factor in that their show is timed to the second, so she had more than just words to the songs she didn't already know to learn. She did have a head start in knowing some of their catalogue but that show...oof. It's like a machine, and one screw up is painfully noticeable. Kudos to her, truly. I probably would have had to knock a few back just to get on the stage under those circumstance lol.

This drummer, Jukka Nevaleinen, left the band in (I think) 2019, suffering insomnia and migraines. I believe he is still working ‘behind the scenes’ with the band. He nominated the current drummer, Kai Hahto, as his replacement. Kai, formerly of “Wintersun” had long been a good friend of Jukka’s.

I doubt Amy Lee was influenced by Floor, despite Floor being in the industry longer. Unfortunately, she has only gotten wider recognition in the last few years. It's insane to think someone this talented flew under the radar for years and years. Even now, there's a lot of American bands that have never heard of these guys. Funny enough, it seems to be a mix of reaction videos becoming popular around 2019, the pandemic, and Floor appearing of a popular Dutch show that finally broke her out into the open. Better late than never, I suppose.

Hello from Nightwish Army Brasil. The singers who inspired Floor Jansen are Deborah Dyer - Skunk Anansie is a British rock band, formed in 1994. The band split in 2001 but got back together in 2009. The most notable member is the vocalist, with a shaved head, Deborah Dyer, known as Skin. The other is Anneke van Giersbergen - vocalist and composer of the Dutch death, doom, and then progressive/alternative trip rock band The Gathering, between 1995 and 2007. Nightwish is a versatile band that started in 1996 (as power metal with an opera singer). That year, symphonic metal bands Trans Siberian Orquestra and Rain Fell Within from the city of Chantilly - Virginia, with female vocals (Dawn Desiree), started in the United States. These two bands can be compared to the beginnings of symphonic metal in the United States. In the United States, the band Savatage released the album Hall of the Mountain King in 1987, containing Savatage's first instrumental symphony called "Prelude to Madness", beginning their progressive phase. But it is considered a Power band and then progressive metal. Yeah - you should be aware that there are, in fact, two unearthly beings on stage. One is the most versatile and skilled female vocalist to emerge in the last two decades. The other is the symbiotic life-form on her head. She keeps it clean and feeds it and, in return, it whips around and spins like a windmill in a typhoon:).
