That is a 3 octave glissando that Floor does in tandem with Marko. The studio version (recorded in the Tarja era) only has Marko's 2 octave slide. This is one of their heavier songs, and one of the few that Emppu really shreds on. Yep, Marko plays Warwick basses and he does sing in a lot of songs. He even sings lead in a few, including The Islander, Master Passion Greed, and their cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes.

Armpits just doesn’t get enough attention in reaction videos 😂😂 A+ for bringing it up! Marco on bass is actually a guitarist and maybe that can explain why he plays the way he does? 🤷♂️ Also, he’s an accomplished front singer in other bands.

In this video and concert and world tour there are three founding members of Nightwish: Keyboard: Tuomas, Guitar: Empuu Drums: Jukka (now retired because of healt problems, replaced by his friend Kay Hahto). Bass guitar: Marko joined the band later in 2001. And of coarse Floor Jansen and Troy Donnockly both joined as members in 2013, after playing as guest musicians during the world tour 2012-2013

One of their heavier songs, though a few go even harder. They are a metal band at heart. Marko is an accomplished singer himself, and sings lead on a handful of Nightwish songs. He also won the Finnish version of the Masked Singer in 2020. My suggestion for next is Song of Myself, from Wacken. Not as hard, but just as heavy, and dark and gritty. Love Camilla on the channel. Keep enjoying your Nightwish journey.

After each song you hear...it will be your new favorite! This is a slammer! Not every song is heavy...but every song is unique, and you will appreciate something from each one. Now you've met bassist, Marko Hietala (pron:HEE-ah-Tallah)... a classically trained guitarist, bassist, songwriter and talented vocalist. That influences how he plays and the sound he creates. Much more Marko to come. The songs he takes lead on are really special!
@vivk15932 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: Tommy Iommi (Black Sabbath) when asked who he could think of as a vocalist with them now, answer was Marko Hietala 😁 (Saw an interviev of Tommy Iommi awhile ago, so that is from my poor memory... so that was not a quote 🤣 )

If I may come with a suggestion 🤗 Their Drummer Kai Hahto has a past in Wintersun, where the composer and leadsinger, Jari Maenpaa, is an phenomenal vocalist and poet, as Tuomas 🤗 They released a couple of years ago the : live rehearsals from Sonic pump studios, and Sons of winter and stars is one of my favorites 🥰 But you may enjoy and find what you might like 😀 A fact tho!!! During his time in the Finnish army, Jari suffered from tuberkuloses, and due to this, he lost maybe 25% of his lungs. Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰

If you want some more darkness and anger from Nightwish, check out Master Passion Greed. This was recorded during the Anette Olzon era, before Floor, and is sung entirely by Marko. It’s arguably the heaviest song they’ve ever recorded. Unfortunately, there’s no live version as they never perform it live.

\|/ ☆ Demonic Metal eh? LoL... that's a damned hilarious description of what the heavy metal vibe is supposedly like, I'll have to admit, I laughed at her saying that... It is an understandable misconception as it is precisely how the musical genre of heavy metal(which actually consists of a wide variety of subgenres in reality, few of which are actually invoking any such kind of thing at all.. For instance, the symphonic metal genre(of which it is well established that Nightwish is, & is where they firmly sit as to the group's work and what the musical genre of their songs are insofar as identifying it goes, doesn't usually ever have ANY association with the emotional aspects that say, death metal is often associated with, ie. a satanic/anarchist pessimistic nihilistic worldview/philosophy/ideological mindset.), it just isn't inclined toward making songs with a hateful or satanic slant to their overarching emotional tonality... instead, symphonic metal is usually fantastical in nature, it is most often utilized for evoking a type of story or daydreaming vision that is rather like many fantasy settings of the sword & sorcery genres, Lord of the Rings, Old Norse Mythology, Celtic Mythology, ect. It is most often an optimistic and celebratory imagery with a dreamlike tonality and feel to it... And even when it does get a more "heavy metal" sound to it, and the story it is trying to tell is a dark one... it isn't ment to be advocating or praising such mindsets, but lamenting the situation, or emoteing a despairing emotional pain for a tragic loss of some kind... heh. Whew, alright, sorry about that tangent I just went off on right there y'all... LoL. I got a bit carried away is all... heh. Regardless, all I am really trying to say is that everyone could always try to become more open to new musical experiences and give different types of unfamiliar musical genres a real, honest listen and a real chance before they assume they get what it "is"... ya know? How much do we all miss out on in our lives simply because we falsely believe that we already know what a thing is like without ever even really giving that thing a fair, unbiased opportunity to show us what it truly is meaning to represent or impart? I only found Nightwish 3 and a half years ago now, and I do regret never having given them the chance of my even listening to their music before that point, 'cause the fact that I was already 41 before I'd even heard of them at all, well that is honestly kinda my own fault... I didn't believe that I liked much heavy metal music until my late 30's, and I missed out on so much because of that ignorant bias based upon fallacious misinformation and my misunderstanding of what heavy metal actually consists of... and the range of music it includes is truly so VAST that I doubt that I can ever listen to every subtype inside the overarching genre that is heavy metal. Y'all are still young enough to be able to greatly benefit from being more open minded about these kinds of things, just try to remember that nearly everything deserves at least a fair chance to win you over, and don't assume anything about any new experience, because you by definition cannot KNOW for a certainty what something that's new to you even is, much less what it will come to be for YOU... Just sayin' man.
