This band is from Finland. Tuomas is the keyboarder, Songwriter, composer. Marco is (was - he resigned just recently) playing the bass and doing also the vocals. He is very versatile and an awesome singer as well. You might watch „The Islander“ from Tampere to experience this. Emppu is playing the guitar. He can shred it but he always does exactly that much, that is required by the song. Kai (also Wintersun) is now at the drums and replaced the original drummer Jukka (whom you saw here) who had stop playing the drums due to health issues. But he still is with the band. Julka was a perfect drummer and showman, Kai is a perfect drummer and a machine and beast at the drums. Then there is Troy, a multi instrumentalist from England who in older performances supported the band at some tracks but became luckily a full member of the band after this tour. He‘s a great singer as well. Last but not least there is Floor, the Dutch singer. She is the bands third singer after Tarja (operatic) and Annett from Sweden (pop/rock). She can sing really everything from opera over pop/ rock to growls This gig was at Wacken. Wacken is THE metal festival worldwide. Nightwish were one of the headliners in 2013. It is in the north of Germany in a rural area. Therefore the bullhead with flames is the Wacken symbol. There are more than 80.000 metalheads having a big party each year.

Hey here a Dutchy. The band is from Finland, but Floor Jansen is a Dutch, but she lives in Sweden . In the Netherlands we have such a good singers and metal bands like Epica ( singer Simone Simons) and Within Temptation (singer Sharon den Adel). Tip for the next? Her husband is named Hannes Van Dahl and is the drummer for the Swedish band Sabaton, who are known for their epic, heroic tales of battles. (his drums are set up in a mock tank) As others have posted before, Floor is one of the most down to earth people you'd ever want to meet. Like everyone, I'm sure she can have a mood, but in every interview, and on every show I've seen, she's acted like an absolute sweetheart. Then she goes on stage and a switch flips.

This entire Wacken (pron: VAW-Kehn) show is a masterpiece of live recording and performance! That's why we suggest you check out many or all songs from that concert. The other reason is that singer, Floor had only been w the band under a year and was performing songs that were all written for prior female singers...they are older songs that wouldn't be on future set lists, and Floor made them all her own! Singing with her is bassist Marko Hietala...a fantastic vocalist in his own right!

The band is from Finland. Floor is Dutch. Living in Sweden with her swedish husband Hannes Van Dal. He's the drummer of another fun band called Sabaton. This year I'm seeing them both Live. Hannes with Sabaton now in April (Touring with BABYMETAL, another band you should check out), Floor in June in what seems to be their last Live show for a few years at least. They announced a hiatus after this tour, and the show in Oslo, Norway, June 22 is the last one. Even us Norwegians know the term "Dutch Oven". It was 82K on this show. It's a fact. In the show opener video this is stated. Biggest show I've ever been to was Rammstein at Bjerke, Oslo, Norway. 60.000 tickets sold. Crazy. Edit. Floor and Hannes has one girl, Freja, and she's pregnant with no2 right now.

It's a shame they aren't a household name in the US. She's one of the greatest female singers I have heard of the last couple decades, and easily destroys anyone over here. One of my favorite bands, especially for live performances (the other being Lovebites). Just unbelievable. Every song you hear from them, you'll be amazed. Note: Floor is Dutch, but this is a Finnish metal band. Floor is the third singer for the band. If you keep checking out more Nightwish, you'll possibly come across Tarja and Annette - impressive in their own rights - but all hail Floor!

"Ole-ole-ole-ole-o" ... dudes, you might wanna put that in the back of your head when you do "I Want my Tears Back" from Buenos Aries, 2019... jus sayin. Ditch the Wakken version. So, on why they sound so good : a) all the backing tracks run about half of the symphonic/brass/choir (the rest is played by Tuomas via sampled stuff) AND that is brought in via Protools which also triggers the lights/pyro, video boards. b) there is a lot of arrangement here that "makes room" for the vocal frequencies (generaly 100-80 Hz, tho Floor pushes the top end) The bass is in the clear, but the keys are generally all higher freq stuff, and the guitar sound is very mid-scooped (playing mainly low notes, with lots of 3rd/4th/5th harmonic distortion. That leave tonnes of space for the vocals to punch trough without competition. c) instruments wouldn't dare get in the way of Floor's vocals... Valkyries just wail right over that sh!t without any effort at all. Floors Dutch, the band is Finnish, her husband is a Swede drummer (for Sabaton) and their expecting their second and she is STILL out on tour. Flippin Goddess Especiale. ... not sure how that translates into Dutch.

Nightwish has had 3 lead singers. Their first one Tarja (Tar-yuh) is a professionally trained opera singer and was the foundation their sound was built around. You guys should really see Nightwish's rendition of Phantom of the Opera live.

Nightwish is always without auto-tune: a band, a singer and go! When they are directing the recordings themselves, like here, there is afterwards mixing and cleaning up (like the constant roar of plus 80.000 people), but nothing fake. BTW Floor and bearded bass player Marko know each other from their mutual interest: axe fighting! 🤭

You hit on how good Floor sounds live; There is a TV show Called Beste Zangers (Best Singers in Dutch). The whole idea is that the entire cast of the show is nothing but the top professional singers in the whole country, and they have numerous performances throughout. I have seen a KZbin video analyzing the audio from those performances and it is crazy. Pretty much everyone else when looking at their pitch has clear evidence of software adjusting their pitch so that it snaps to the exact note, but not Floor. She naturally nails the notes with the tiny variations that are practically unavoidable and unnoticeable to the human ear, showing that this is not corrected, but simply her natural performance. She is truly a unique talent who has put in INSANE levels of dedicated practice to master her craft.

Completely 100% independent, Bloodywood is an eclectic mix of death metal, electronica, and rapping. Think Linkin Park, and mix in some curry -- that's Bloodywood. I recommend Aaj (Hindi for "Today") or Jee Veerey (Hindi for "Brave One"). After that, I recommend reacting to a song called Dana Dan, one of the hardest metal songs, about one of the most sensitive topics in today's world: SA. Floor is classically trained and can sing Opera arias. She also trained in Music Theater and Rock Academy in the Netherlands. She stared singing in her first band, After Forever, around 14 I think. You find a lot of singers in Metal (in Europe) who are classically trained and that helps with breath control, projection, et. al.

'epica' 'within temptation' a dutchoven is a cast iron pan that you can use to cook on coals. you can make really super tasty stews and apple pie yourself. If you like symphonic rock/metal and Floor as a Dutch artist, you could also check out Ayreon “the day that the world breaks down” and after that the live version of “everybody dies”. Ayreon is a project of the Dutch artist Arjan Lucassen who writes rock/metal operas where a whole album is a story. Every voice on it is a character in the story and in “the day that the world breaks down” there are 11 (!!!!!!!!!) main singers. The singers are leadsingers of well known metalbands. You will hear Floor also on it 😉. Oh and he is 6 foot 6……..

Floor is married to a drummer, they have 1 child I’m aware of, a little girl named Freja. Yes, Floors talent runs in the family, you should search KZbin for the video of Floor performing with her sister Irene. They are all incredibly tall as well. Floor is 6’1”, her husband is 6’7” and her sister is about as tall as Floor. They look like twins actually.

I envision their Daughter to be a tall singing drummer. You mentioned soccer game chants. Nightwish did a gig in Buenos Aires, Argentina 2019 and guess what happened even before the singing started? It was epic and memorable. Floor is very animated in this one and you get to meet multi-instrumentalist Troy and try to figure out what instrument he is playing. Her husband is the drummer of Sabaton. If you want to hear a metal vocalist rapping, try out BOOM1! by Amaranthe. They are from Sweden (despite the drummer who is Danish).Funny enough, said drummer's real life partner is the vocalist of another symphonic metal band, Melissa Bonny from Ad Infinitum, although they are not married (yet). Must be something about drummers.

First: NIghtwish (Symphonic Metal) is Finnich band !!!! Floor Jansen (6 feet 1 inches) is Dutch and married to Sabaton's (Swedish heavy metal band) drummer Hannes Van Dahl (6 feet 3 inches). They have a daughter Freya and their second child is on the way !!! PS: Floor's husband has a Tank !!!! Now the song: This song is Like a Coffee with Red Bull .... On Steroids 🤘❤‍🔥🤘. And the creator of this magic is: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. PLUS: Floor can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. Floor has 3 distinct styles. Floor is closer to 6'4" in boots and Emppu on the purple guitar is 5'3" - Goddess Queen Valkyrie and THE Electric Hobbit. Do you know the Aussie term for Americans? "Seppo" ? see Metallica in Moscow? 1.6 Million in the crowd! Great Dutch bands - Delain, Epica, Within Temptation - something in the water there! See them, and Floor, and you might know why my kids are half Dutch! .... Angels amongst the Nightwish fans, of course! Hannes Van Dahl, Floor's husband, is the drummer with Sabaton (listen to them too - military history lessons in music!) - their daughter Freya is six and another one on the way!.... This version is better than the album - SOP for Nightwish!..... Marko, the other singer playing bass, was involved in the sound recording for this gig. Love that Floor-raid siren. I started going to the Wacken Open Air (WOA) in 1999 (in a small town called Wacken in the north of Germany). At that time the Festival was very small with round about 30.000 people. Since then I went there nearly every year. In the meantime WOA grew in a massive way -> with a crowd as big as 80.000 people and more. At the Wacken Open Air I had the pleasure of watching Nightwish a lot of times (with Tarja and later with Floor as singers). It was amazing and I am happy about every concert I was able to go to. ❤ Being part of such a big crowd felt incredible! 😊

The story of the festival is really awesome. From 800 people partying at the ass-end of nowhere to one of, if not the biggest metal festival in the world. Over 30 years of metal bands visiting this tiny town and the probably safest place on earth. If those journalists did their homework, not one brawl or fight that needed police intervention or an ambulance. I think that's absolutely awesome.
