This song is from Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. ... Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Now you’ve done it…you peered down the rabbit hole…prepare to be sucked in. Nightwish is generally classified as symphonic metal, but over the years they’ve sort of become a genre unto themselves. No two of their songs really sound the same…they have songs like this one, much softer ones, much harder ones, others that are more classically influenced, others that are more Celtic/folk influenced…all around a very diverse band. Anything from this same Wacken 2013 show (which was in front of 82,000 people, by the way) is brilliant, but I’d recommend specifically Ghost Love Score, Song of Myself, Everdream, and Romanticide.

There is no "normal" for Nightwish. Tuomas is a composer rather than songwriter, he explores and includes so many different styles, methods, and patterns, no two songs are really alike. Keep exploring, I'm sure you'll continue to be amazed as I am. Also check out some of Floor's solo stuff. She's without a doubt the most phenomenal vocalist I've ever heard.

They "call" it symphonic metal because there isn't a word in the human language for it. They are their own sound. The song you just heard came from a concert(Wacken 2013). 15 song setlist. Every song is different. Not a bad one in the mix. It is the best way to meet the band. Happy, love what they are doing, love the crowd. 2nd song...Ghost Love Score, Wacken 2013. I just got home(Maine) from a Nightwish concert in NYC at Terminal 5. 9 years since Wacken and they are GREAT. You'll see.

The Nightwish list of excellent music is pretty darn long, as they go back to 1996! I discovered them in early 2019, and I am totally hooked on their music! They have music from all different genres, and that's what I love about them! Floor Jansen is the most versatile vocalist I have ever heard in my life, and I am nearly 65 years old!

Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. I know she gets lots of hate and she really didn't have the right sound for the symphonic metal, but I liked her in that.

Well done. You have started at probably the best concert, Wacken 2013, with the best singer for Nightwish, Floor Jansen, who had only been with them 10 months having joined mid tour. She sings every song written for previous two very different singers and nails them all. The sixth member, Troy from England, does not feature in every song but plays so many different instruments. Nightwish performs so many variations of symphonic metal from mellow, through Celtic to banging. Follow Gabriel's list and you can't go wrong. LOL

At this concert Floor and the band were red hot. Infatuation with Floor is as natural as breathing. Do not forget that Floor had just joined the band and all of this concert the songs were written for her predecessors in the group. Your induction into the Nightwish army both requires your adoration of the Valkyrie Goddess, Floor, but also your regular consideration of Tarja and Anette. And yes Nightwish goes in many different directions, not just the songs but the styles of the three singers, operatic, first, poppy, second, EVERYThING third.

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered ! Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 5 octaves (Eb2 to F5) She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. Awesome tune , although it is kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. I think yours is the best reaction I’ve seen of this song. I’ve read all the comments, replies and suggestions below and agree with them. But I think that the best song for some unique instrumentals and to see how much fun they have together is I Want My Tears Back at Waken, the same concert. Early in the song Emppu is telling Troy that he is going to run behind Floor and turn down her earphones. He does about four minutes in. It’s easier to see her reaction than him doing it. About half a minute later you can see him teasing her about it. Trust me; you like.

The Nightwish Army has arrived!! Yes dude, your lack of words is VERY common amongst first listeners of Nightwish. Yes Floor Jansen ( Prounouned Yansen ) ( the main singer ) sounds like that in damn near every song. She is our Valkyrie goddess. XD She literally can sing it all. LITERALLY. I suggest you listen to Ghost Love Score and Romanticide ( both same Waken 2013 concert ). Ghost Love Score, is very much a score, and highlight Toumas' ( keyboardist and composer ) ability to make EPIC scores, and that one definitely highlights the lighter and more powerful songs they've made. Romanticide is more on the metal side of it ( with a Floor twist at the end that could shatter glass lol ) And if you really DO choose to go down this rabbit hole, I highly recommend you save "Greatest Show on Earth" for the finale. It is, in my opinion, Toumas' greatest work and never stops giving me chills every time I listen to it. ENJOY!

Welcome to the world of Symphonic Metal. Gabriel will be along to provide you links to many songs that will start you down the Nightwish rabbit hole. all I will say is being symphonic metal allows them to talk their music in several different directions. They have the longer, epic, grand scores of musical metal songs like "Ghost, Love, Score". Then they have several of the more traditional style metal songs... and like this one, just about everything in between. They even have songs with a bit of that Celtic Rock kind of vibe. But no matter the basic style of song they are going for, all their songs will have those signature symphonic elements that make the music so full, so much grander than your used to. It’s good but I would also recommend “greatest show on earth” and some of their earlier work. I first discovered them in 2005 when they played “Nemo” at the download festival in the UK

Nightwish can do everything and all genres...there is no definition...check more you find mellow ballads and almost black metal ... female and male voices with all styles...and poetry plus science in the lyrics and versatile backing tracks with so many small hints that one can find a song as new after 100 times of listening to it...just check more and you agree. Welcome to Nightwish. Fans/The Nightwish army are lead by our General Gabriel. We are legion but we are one of the nicest yet obsessed fans ever. We rearly fight or dissagree but we give plenty of informed information for you to follow. No two songs are fully the same. Two additional singers are the bass player marco ( Sadly has recently left but may return- Health reasons ) has this gritty eighties metal vocals and can sing a bit clean. And Troy the Brit who plays many instruments and has this calm soft folk like vocals. As for the lead singer Floor Jansen pronounced ( Yansen ) trained in theatre and Classical/Opera and at a school of Rock. Can sing also Rock and Pop and can growl. Floor can also sing in multiple languages just a few examples Spanish, German, English, Italian, Sweedish, and of course Dutch her native language. And has been in bands from age 16 After forever, Revamp, Northward, Nightwish. Including with other groups like Ayreon, Epica plus others and has a solo album out soon with her music video Fire. Also other music shows like Beste Zangers ( Best singers ) sang a song in English and in Dutch called Warchild to raise money for these children who are the victims of War. Good one. Floor offically became the new lead singer after this she had stepped in to help Nightwish finish their tour after the seond singer left. Try anything else from the same show, Ever Dream, Song Of Myself, Ghost River, Nemo etc. every song is different and great you won't be sorry.

BUT ..... searching for something different/new experiences .... then I hope you can find the time to react to this TOP LINEUP OF MANY MUSICAL INTRUMENTS/SINGERS: The Source is the 9th studio album from *AYREON* , a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen (Ahr-Yun) Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28, 2017. *_”The Day That The World Breaks Down”_* is a song that features all 11 (quite well known) main guest singers (you’ll be surprised) and is taken from that album. Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards. Btw. This creative original clip is 13 min. long and I think you won’t regret it !! You can expect all sorts of directions, some harder and some softer, some shorter or very long, some very dramatic and high brow, some straight in your face, one of the guys is also a real sing singer (guess who), his voice blends extremely well with the sometimes unreal female vocals, the catalogue is huge and above top shelf, take this one song and multiply it with way more than 20, that's how far you can go with digging in the meantime asking yourself: How can I ever find my way back out of this Rabbit hole?!...Just a warning;-)
