I think her ability to adapt to so many different vocal styles is a strength which makes singing "other people's songs" easier. She does metal, folk, classical very well. Pretty impressive.

@@mirjamvond1731 Of course not. But even though this might be harder to sign than some pop songs, it's still easier than many classical pieces. Our voices are unique, but not that unique that singing a song written for another person would be any kind of miracle or even an accomplishment. It's not. That's what singers do. But that being said, Floor is so amazing that even if this particular thing isn't really that impressive, it doesn't matter. Everything she sings turns into gold.

This Wacken 2013 show is the gold standard. There are some performances from other shows that are amazing, but collectively this one is by far the best. Her voice, the soundboard mix, the clarity all together is all unmatched.

Floor has explained the tears this way…Tuomas writes lyrics that are very introspective and emotional to him…Floor is an empath, meaning she is able to feel the emotions in those lyrics and then project them to the audience when she sings them.

One year ago at midnight when I could not sleep I decided to listen to a reaction between a father and daughter to a song called Storytime by a band called Nightwish in an unknown venue called Wacken. Then I noticed this “85 foot” Viking warrior queen commanding the stage with such an angelic voice, rising above the heavy but beautiful metal music. Oh my God that was my introduction to Nightwish and Floor Jansen. There is no other group or singer that pulls at one’s emotional strings like these wonderful and talented musicians 💥💥💥💥

I was binging on disturbed sound of silence reactions and the GLS video kept hounding me in my recommended. The thumbnail was always of a female singer and I never cared for female vocals so I kept avoiding it. I finally got pissed at you tube and clicked on it then ran to my boyfriend and yelled at him for never telling me about them! 😂 that same day I listened to many reactions and I had my first 2 NW cd's ordered!!! In my opinion the Wacken 2013 concert, undisputably, has the best audio master of any of the live concert videos. It is my go-to when I want to hear Floor sing the Nightwish songs she was not on the album recordings for, plus there are so many great moments. The Buenos Aires concert from 2018 has incredible audience participation, but the audio is subpar compared to Wacken. "I Want My Tears Back" is so fun! I recommend for a first time listen to that one, do the Wacken version and then watch the Buenos Aires version for the infectious crowd energy. The Wacken version sounds much better and Empuu pulls a little prank on Floor. It might be cool if you made a video where you watch the two videos back to back. I 've never seen anyone do that before. The Wembley 2015 and Tampere 2015 concerts are exceptionally good and feature their newer songs that were recorded with Floor. I would highly recommend those!

What I love about Nightwish is that it isn't "Floor and the band"; it's...Nightwish. Every element of the soundscape really ties together harmoniously as parts of the overall composition; it's like a massive orchestral piece. You lose one part and the entire thing falls apart. The vocals are musically an equal part of the composition as the instrumentals. It's that unity, that harmony of all the different dynamics that, IMO, is what makes Nightwish such an emotional force musically. It's not just heavy metal, but it's also beautiful compositionally - and THAT is why I think it hits so many of us emotionally.

It's the difference in between great music and genius level of music. This is Tuomas's writing of music that gives us basically in every song... the feeling of something special. This is genius level of mastery in music. Metal Mozart as we call Tuomas... He's simply genius... and along with the rest of the band that are simply amazing as well... they do not go off the line set by Tuomas... usually guitarists will improve a lot to show of... Empu for example he plays what Tuomas writes... that gives us the tears in our eyes... because not only the lyrics and the message of the songs that Tuomas is writing is amazing the overall feeling of the song is also being sent over towards us. Take care ! Great observation btw... with the crying... I always feel chills have tears in the eyes to 90% of Nightwish's music. They are exceptional indeed !!!

nightwish magic is not just that every member is a master or mistress of their craft but that all of them bend willingly to the genius of their composer, Tuomas holopainen who ias alos their keyboard player. None of them is bigger than the song they are playing; you'll have so many amazing surprises on your journey; sabaton is a great band as well and there is a link: their drummer met Floor when both bands were touring together and they ended up married :-). Epica: floor is old friends with their singer Simone; both bands are amazing in their own right: good start is christmas truce for Sabaton and sancta terra for Epica.

None of them is bigger than the song they are playing. Absolutely right. Just as an example take Emppu. He can always be relied on to give what the song needs. A stupendous guitar solo, spot on playing within the overall band sound or NOTHING. No ego here, if the song needs nothing from him he does not force himself in. This applies to all of the lads, including Floor ( if such Queen Goddess can be called a lad). Floor is brilliant, she knows she is brilliant but works as part of the family which is Nightwish. I love Tarja and am not trying to slag off Tarja as I regard the Tarja era Nightwish as possibly a lot of their best work. But, I always have the feel that Tarja was the star and Nightwish were her band. With Anette, Nightwish was the star and Anette was their singer. With Floor it is the whole band and their music which is the star.

Seen Nightwish a handful of times. All their concerts with Floor are Flawless. I was at Wacken in 2013, ive seen Nightwish in London and Tampere. They give me goosebumps, they nring tears to my eyes. Floor is best female vocalist in pop or rock

You asked the question. Yes, many would say that Wacken 2013 was the definitive live concert. Although Floor had ‘hit the ground running’ when brought in to replace Anette (whose song this is) by Wacken she had really integrated into the band and had been formally admitted to the band (although not publically announced at that point). Nightwish are always nothing if not professional, but at Wacken the whole band were supercharged. Nightwish was complete again and they were letting everyone know. For the ‘back catalogue’ which Floor ‘took over’ (1all the Wacken songs were written for her predecessors in Nightwish) you would probably e njoy reacting to the original versions with Tarja and Anette,

I also experience chills, goosebumps, and hair standing on end, no matter how many times I watch them. Floor also moves me to tears in a good way, it's such a personal feeling of awe. From the musicianship, compositions, songs, music along with Floor's vocals have contributed to Nightwish being my favorite band and Floor my all time favorite singer. Don’t know if they have an actual best concert as a whole.. They’re all stellar, but some of their songs come out slightly better at certain concerts.. Wacken has the best “Ghost Love Score”, “Romanticide”, “Song of myself” and “Storytime”.. Buenos Aires had a magical performance of “I want my tears back”.. Tampere had a great “The Islander” and the best “Greatest Show on Earth”.. Although Wembley had a splendid easteregg at the end of “Greatest Show”, making it a solid runner up on that one.. But Wembley’s “Your’s is an Empty Hope” is kick ass and of course, the “Poet and the Pendulum” they did at Wembley is out of this world and keeps choking me up every single time..

There was just something magical about Wacken 2013. I'm pretty sure the God of Metal itself watched over that whole concert. Yes. This band, especially with their Valkyrie Goddess, Floor Jansen, can rip the emotions right out of their audience. It's almost as if they feed on the crowd's emotions. Wacken 2013 is wonderful. But Nightwish has many great live perfomances... Wembley 2016, Baltic Princess Nightwish Cruise 2015, Tampere 2015, Mexico City 2015, Buenos Aires 2018, and on and on it goes. Tonight, May 4th they start their May 2022 North America Tour in Toronto. I'm so happy my wife and I get to see them perform at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco on May 18th. G. Wacken 2013, especialy "Amaranth" was the point of decision to keep Floor in the band. The band was so happy, to finally have a femal singer the could sing literally everything. And for Floor these guys were like her older brothers. Emmpu with his pranks, Floor gave back good, Marco and her respecting each other, she was even invited by him to the heavy Christmas tours. And Floor sang one year highly pregnant a Finnish christmas song. Watch please Marco and Floor singing Ave Maria 2017, you WILL have tears in your eyes. Tuomas trusts her and she "cocomposes" with him and sometimes Troy. With Troy she has a almost similar friendship as with Marco. Buones Aires for the crazy audience. Third song was Amaranth with Anette. All within one hour, same day. I was very confused!! 17 months later and I love them all. In 4 days I will get to see them LIVE in NYC.

Yes.....don't miss you some Epica! Their music is a bit heavier but affects me the same way Nightwish does. Check out Unleashed from the retrospect live show. That is a good starter for them. Sabaton also is awesome. Their Christmas Truce song is fkn amazing. Floor has an appearance at the end of it too. Her hubby is the Sabaton drummer.

The Wacken 2013 is legendary. 2015 Tampere and 2015 Wembley also really really good. Tampere bands home turf, big production, Floors parents were there. Wembley mythical place, sold-out gig and really special atmosphere.

Best performances? I would say 1) Wacken 2013, 2) Buenos Aires 2018, 3) Tampere 2015 tied up with Wembley 2015. All with Floor. Also worth mentionin is "End of an era" back in 2005, video quality is not so good but last Tarja concert is also epic. All amazing on their own. For an oldie metal sound you can do "Slaying the dreamer" live from Buenos Aires 2018.

There are soooo many songs from Nightwish who have a really good chance to be your next favorite… 😎🏆 But after Storytime best next song (and maybe new favorite 🤣) would be: Everdream (also Wacken 2013) Best live-concert: Wacken 2013, Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015 & Buenos Aires 2018 - after These the other ones… 😎🏆👍😂 By the way - best introduction to EPICA is the live-performance of the song: Sancta Terra ft. Floor (yes, Floor is the connection….!!!)

As has been stated, Wacken 2013 is the gold standard and my favorite. And for me, my top 3 songs from them are Song of Myself (Wacken), Weak Fantasy (Tampere), and this one, Storytime (Wacken). Definitely hit-up Sabaton, Epica, Ayreon, Kamelot and Within Temptation, among others. Been enjoying watching you go down the Nightwish, Pentatonix and KZ Tandingan rabbit holes so far.

So far for me following them for the 2+ years, I have been, I have to say that the WHOLE 2013 WACKEN show was the most special concert I have ever seen with them. The sound mix was more than just on point, the lighting and the setlist were fantastic. To be honest, I have seen other shows and they are ALL good but there was something in the air in Wacken this night, and it will forever be the best I think. Also, Floor had been with the band for about 10 months when they did this show and there were over 80k metal heads here. So when you talk about stage presence take that into account.

Gives me tears in my eyes to. For me the magic happens to me that the heavy metal sounds boils up from my own dargest feelings from past lives through my soal and those hidden emotions are lightend up by the angelic harmonic sounds. It gives me the feeling that all dark disires in me will open up to myself to heal me from it by more awarenes of those dark sides.

I really enjoy your reactions, they are so infectious! Also I have to be an ass about it and say Lahti 2018 was a crazy good performance. Sure Wacken and Tampere are awesome, but seeing one of their top notch ones front row will make it their best for me. I've listened to them since 2000 and that was my first time seeing Floor with them. Singing all the classics I basically grew up with. Dead Boy's Poem simply destroyed me, in all the right ways. The original featured male vocalist for Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean, Tapio Wilska, also made an appearance. It was legendary. They don't have any official lives from tht show, but a few songs were recorded for some weird 360 video experiment and I think a couple are on YT. At least Devil.
