Listen to the studio recording too! I love both versions. Other great songs to listen by him are" First Circle, The Heat of the Day, Last Train Home, and Minuano (6/8). All songs that have been in DCI/WGI at some point or another. I am thankful to USF winterguard 2015 for doing this song to their amazing show. I fell in love instantly and have loved discovering more Pat Metheny group music since.

Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays have created some of the most beautiful inspiring pieces of a generation. I have been fortunate to have seen them play on a number of occasions and their music is, for me, almost a religious experience. This is what he was put on this earth to do.
@anyviolet2 ай бұрын
I believe this too. Some of the most gorgeous music ever recorded IMO, and Metheny seems like a very nice man, by the way (not true of all geniuses). However, last I heard, Metheny's an atheist and this musical genius sadly just isn't aware (yet) from where his genius comes. Please pray for him since you know. What a shame if he only found out at the end of his life how much the Creator used him to bring beauty and joy to this life.

Secret Story is the name of the studio album, and "Finding and Believing" is the song title. This is obviously the live version. Great vid. I'm gonna have to check your others out. I hope you dive deeper into Pat Metheny. I've been a big fan of his for decades. I especially recommend the Pat Metheny Group albums. And, by the way, his singers aren't just "singers". They are also multi-instrumentalists. God bless and enjoy!

Secret Story is the album, F&B is the song. You have opened the Pandora's box of performance and arrangement glory. Not all Pat's music is "like" this but his orchestration and production is second to none. The albums Travels, First Circle, Still Life (Talking), Imaginary Day, and The Way Up need to be your next stops. ... You'd find Pat's music in the jazz aisle, but eschews the jazz label.

The Beato interview is very informative. His study and dedication to the craft is impressive. He literally fasts the day of a performance because he noticed a slight improvement in his improvisations.

Any album of the Pat Metheny Group will blow your mind. Since 1984, my favorite tune is «First Circle», from the eponym album, Every time I feel empty, I call a Pat Metheny Group album. Joy. Just joy. The world disappears, and I recharge my batteries. I come back good as new. That's how good that music is.

I suggested this one because it was the most mind blowing arrangement I’d seen from him yet. Once Matt recovers, the others will make more sense. 😂

@jimbricker4982 is correct. It's not all like this. Yet the VAST MAJORITY of it is this good, and even better. Secret Story is a unique album in his discography. I HIGHLY recommend the Pat Matheny rabbit hole.

Saw them back in the early 90s in Stockholm and then Copenhagen when they were playing songs from "secret stories". Jonah is a fan of Pat and especially his piano player, the late Lyle Mays.

If you really want to delve into Pat's work, start at the beginning, with his debut album, "Bright Size Life." The title track is the way to go. He plays as a trio, with the late great bassist, Jaco Pastorious, and drummer Bob Moses.

If this is your first introduction tonPat and the wide myriad of his incredible career in music, welcome! You have a LOT to explore! Start with his earliest Bright Size Life and Watercolors, then the first Pat Metheny Group (PMG). these are all from mid to late 1970s. This is a 50 year musical journey, a musical "story". Some of the most magical and extraordinary creations.

Fun stuff. What you're listening to is music. Not jazz, not rock, not classical. I've followed Pat since the late Seventies. Seen him and PMG live enough times to just settle on "music" because Pat and Lyle's compositions are unique and they surrounded themselves with incredible talent. This vid is a good example.

Pat Metheny is a true living legend … his (along with Lyle Mays) music is possibly as good as anyone’s in any genre … you should do yourself a favor and listen to as much Pat Metheny Group and solo projects as you can …

Let me get this straight…… You might be considered a “professional” musician, doing reaction videos and you’ve never heard of Pat Methany?
@teckreactions4 ай бұрын
I’ve heard OF Pat Metheny, but I’ve never heard his music. Is hearing his music a prerequisite for being a professional? Or is it supporting a family of four on the income from performing?

How can someone know "who exactly Paul Wertico is" but not know the music of the PMG? I smell click bait and BS.

@@teckreactions You said, "I know exactly who Paul Wretico is." Like I said, click bait and BS. That's like saying, I know who Ringo Starr is but I'm not familiar with that group The Beatles.
@teckreactions2 ай бұрын
@@OllieBivinsHearing OF Ringo Star means you’ve heard OF The Beatles, but you still may have not HEARD the music. I’ve been to a Paul Wretico clinic. I know he performs with Pat Metheny. But I’ve never heard his music. I said it numerous times. I’ve heard OF them, but never HEARD them. My percussion instructor in college toured with Paul Simon for 25 years. I didn’t hear my first Paul Simon song until he left college. So take your BS clickbait nonsense elsewhere.
