It was great to hear this on your channel. I’d like to say R.I.P. to composer, keyboardist and long time collaborator with Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays who died last February. He is irreplaceable, a great loss to jazz and the music community. As far as the music goes, this is another artist that I’ve loved since my late teens and the mixing of cultures in Pat’s music is wonderful. That groove is undeniable. I am glad you liked this and hope to see more on your channels brother. 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍

Been a fan of him for decades. Beautiful guitar player... so smooth. His collaborations with keyboardist Lyle Mays are epic. I have 12 of his albums (vinyl). Try "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls"

Pat is an outstanding guitarist and composer. I also loved his work on Joni Mitchell's live Shadows And Light album which was a great band with Jaco on bass.

Michael - I have been listening to Pat for nearly 40 years now, and he continually surprises and brings the unexpected. The album this was from, We Live Here, was unlike all the ones before, then next one Quartet was a left turn, and the subsequent, Imaginary Day, was 180 degrees from that - all were continually jazz but not limited to it. To my ears, no one plays or composes with the depth of Metheny. I think this is a rabbit hole you'll enjoy. But note that if you do reactions to his material released on ECM, they'll be blocked, but don't let that prevent you from going there on your own time - the albums As Falls Wichita..., Travels, and First Circle are masterpieces (First Circle is my absolute favorite tune of all time). For items that may not get blocked, I recommend the following Pat tunes: Minuano (six eight) (kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZCxaZmDib-UY9U), Tromso (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZrKnZqGnKaSlc0), The Gathering Sky (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnywqaN7YtCNp8k), and finally Mastema (kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3elc2RsrZyBeq8). Enjoy the journey!

Great reaction to PMG!!!! I was fortunate to have been able to see the Pat Metheny Group live four times back in the day. The musicianship of the band, Pat, the great Lyle Mays, Steve Rodby, Paul Wertico on drums and later Antonio Sanchez, was unbelievable.

Man, if you're getting into the Pat Metheny Group, i highly suggest the following tunes: 'The First Circle' (off the record w/ the same title), 'Minuano (Six Eight)', 'Third Wind' (the first from the album 'Still Life Talking' and the latter from the DVD 'More Travels'), 'Are You Going With Me'? (from the album 'Off Ramp). Not super different from this tune here, maybe a bit more into the Jazz/World/Fusion genre, but really great melodic, harmonically and rhythmically sophisticated songs.

Great choices! These are the ones to check out for sure! Though I'd replace the Offramp version of Are You Going With Me with the one from the Travels live album or the More Travels video. Both of those have more energy and better solos, IMHO.

Thank you for your diversity in music and bringing the magic of music into these dark days. You always keep it real, and understand that music is medicine for the soul. It's a great thing when you find a channel where the reactions, and the voice behind them project views and insights of a healer and never a hater.

One of smooth jazz's finer stars.....for decades. Nobody ever reacts to this type of music, which has been a mainstay of my listening past - especially when I just want to chill. If you want to explore this genre a little more, try these: Edison West - "Child's Play" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2S0cmOBarScp9E Dotsero - "When We're Together" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jILYq4akjbSGjNk The Rippingtons - "Caribbean Breeze" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fILbg56goZmYhtU Nils - "Pacific Coast Highway" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/roukoIywaa6ed68 Fourplay - "101 Eastbound" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jauVl4CNgd2jmM0 React if you wish (I'd love to hear your feelings), or just sit back and enjoy.
