This is the song that started me on the road to Pat Metheny Group being my favorite group. In 1987, I heard the song on a smooth jazz radio station and fell in love. They announced that PMG was playing at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA in a week or two. I bought tickets. They were the worst seats, top row of the bleachers at the top of the amphitheater, but I still loved it.

It does not need to be explained. It's a purely personal emotion, which is only nice to silently share among each other.

Thanks for the video. But just like "The First Circle," this song was composed by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. Pat was not the only genius in the room. Lyle gets justifiable credit as a pianist and improviser, but he was also a formidable composer. He should receive equal billing.

I watched the first 76 seconds of your video and realized that your take on Minuano Six Eight and Pat Metheny was more nuanced and definitive than any other reviewer I've witnessed.

Pat’s music is amazing, a true master, with the most creative mind. Writing, playing, Pat takes you for the ride of your life, one that is never ending. I love his music been listening from the beginning, always looking forward for the next jazzy tune. I only got to see him once, couldn’t find someone to watch my 2 daughters so they came with me, they too were amazed with the performance. RIP Lyle Mays, another master musician.

Been a fan of Metheny since 1977 Watercolors. But where it really clicked was Kevin Costner's 1985 movie Fandango. It was supposed to be a late 60s early 70s Vietnam war era movie with the appropriate aged soundtrack but at the end 3 songs from Metheny really brought it home. Check it out some time.

The title refers to two things. It's the name of an Indian tribe in Brazil, bordering Argentina. Minuano is also the name of trade winds in that part of Brazil. The sound is meant to replicate the sound of those trade winds.

@@dawudabdullaah6977 respectfully, if you read my comment you'll see that i was talking about him being able to play so many instruments and not in any way referring to him involved in making of the song.

If you like vocals without word? Sissel Kyrkjebø having fun with, 'Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring'. INCREDIBLE breath control by the best cross-over mezzo-soprano in the world! She sings ANYTHING from Elvis to opera. Perfectly in any language. How about some of that Blue-Eyed Soul from the 60s? The Righteous Brothers, 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling', the most played song on American TV and radio of the 20th Century. OR, the song of theirs where Blue-Eyed Soul goes to Funky Town and they park on Blues Street, 'I Just Wanna Make Love To You'. The song no TV station and very few radio stations would play...

As pertaining to Pat Metheny's fashion, as you can see by the pictures, even as a little boy, Pat Metheny moved himself out of the way so the music that he gives to the world will flow through him. But still from him.
