It is the clarity in her voice that amazes me. There was absolutely no cheating in her singing. In the early days, there was no money for re-takes, or tape for that matter. She would go in and sing here parts usually with the band, and that would be it! Her voice is so distinctive that no one comes close to sounding like her.

Aww Nick, I love watching your reactions to my favorite singers. Patsy had a lot of romantic upheaval in her life, which gave her that heartfelt maturity to her song interpretations. If you haven't heard Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight you are missing greatness. I would also recommend Lee Anne Rhymes as well. Go back to the very beginning of her career. She can cry in her music just like Patsy. She won The Masked Singer with some gorgeous music. She didn't sing Patsy Cline in this, but Patsy was one of her influences. Keep listening to this beautiful music. It is timeless.

It is said that Patsy was actually crying when she recorded this one, as the breath she takes at the end seems to suggest. This was part of her final recording sessions before her untimely passing.

Yes, I read this also. One of the musicians in the studio at the time said this after she died. Tears were streaming down her face as she sang this. She was not lucky in love.

Thank you, for making me cry. lol - I listen to Patsy Cline a lot in the mid to late 80's when my father died on my 18th Bday and lost my mother just before I turned 21 from sudden illness. You played this an I still know this word to word. Patsy had an incredible voice lost to soon. it's funny to see her pictures on here and reminds me of what my mother looked like when she was young in her 20's. Thank you

Cline was born to sing ballads and was known for that "cry" or vocal flip in her voice. You might also like Mandy Barnett. She never got the fame she deserved, but in the 90s she was believed to be the next Patsy Cline -- even played the role at Dollywood for several years. I recommend "Planet of Love," "Now That's Alright" and "Whispering Wind" -- just for your personal listening pleasure. I don't think most people will remember Mandy so you won't get many clicks, unfortunately.

This was from the last recording session. Her husband, Charlie Dick, tells the story that when she was recording the songs from that last session, she was crying as she sang each one. After work he stopped by the studio to see what was going on and Owen Bradley, her producer, asked him what he had done to her to cause her to cry so much. He told him nothing, but Mr. Bradley told him to get the hell out, because he didn't want him to ruin the magic she was making. It was obvious she was crying as evidenced by that last line in "Faded Love".

Nick, imagine both Patsy n Loretta Lynn were mothers, Housewife/Country ⭐✨ singers of their time! Singing was their second occupation. Being a mom was their first🥇! They were young when their singer careers took off, but being moms always came first! Don't see that anymore!😊

It’s her cover of Bob Wills’ original. He wrote the song (with his father and brother) and had the HUGE hit with it. Bob Wills was tremendously popular and known as the King of Texas Swing, back in the 1930s-50s. In the 1970s Waylon Jennings had a hit called “Bob Wills is Still The King”. That will tell you something. *edit- Patsy Cline’s version is good though!

Her "special" vocal range is contralto. Patsy Cline, Karen Carpenter, KD Lang, Cher, Annie Leonex, Judy Garland, Stevie Nicks, Tracy Chapman, Chaka Kahn, Janis Joplin, Joan Armatrading are just a few of the modern day contralto singers. It is the rarest female vocal style marked by deep and sometimes dark sultry tones that contrast to the male "crooner" style, while also reaching the higher mezzo soprano notes with ease.
