That's actress Jessica Lange portraying Patsy in the biopic "Sweet Dreams" but it is, indeed, Patsy singing. Btw, you guys should have a movie night & watch it together. Wonderful movie, very entertaining, truthful about her tumultuous marriage, lots of great music (of course!). You should watch it, then do another reaction to one of her songs & tell us what you thought of the movie! 💙☮💙

The movie Coal Miner's Daughter, about the life of Loretta Lynn, also has a lengthy segment about Patsy Cline and her relationship with Loretta. They were best friends. Beverly D'Angelo plays Patsy in that flick, which came out in 1980 and was my first exposure to Patsy Cline.

Patsy’s mom hated the movie. Not true to life. At least it was Patsy's voice with the exception of Blue Christmas and Rolling in My Sweet Baby's Arms. Interestingly those vocals were provided by Jamey Ryan who was married to Charlie after Patsy's death. They divorced in the 70's at some point.

Patsy Cline has one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "Crazy", "She's Got You", "When I Get Through With You", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "Walkin' After Midnight", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love", "Imagine That". She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams.

Country voices? She was way more then "country " in my book-that's limiting her in a style. A super talent, She could sing anything and had the greatest purity of tone and lyrical interpretation beyond compare; she appealed to everyone and not just country music fans. Many of her songs sounded like a blend between country music and blues. Had she lived a longer she would still be considered a total gift to music.

What just happened is an extremely gifted Lady sang a song to YOU! And you responded the same way MILLIONS of people before you responded. You swooned! She made you feel like she was singing this to you and it made you feel special, cared for, and needed! This is how special this lady was. She evoked emotions from everyone that listened to this vocal masterpiece! Amazing that someone singing a song brings these feelings out of us. I’m glad you took the time to listen to this very special lady and her perfect voice! Proof that we don’t need to degrade each other with foul mouthed lyrics. This song transcends race, gender, and most of all, TIME!

Jessica Lange, featured here in this video, was Oscar nominated for Best Actress for her role as Patsy Cline in the 1985 film "Sweet Dreams". She was lip synching to Patsy's original, recorded February 5, 1963, one month to the day of her fatal plane crash on March 5, 1963. Also killed in that crash were country singers Harold "Hawkshaw" Hawkins and Lloyd "Cowboy" Copas, along with the pilot and Patsy's manager, Randy Hughes.

Everyone acknowledges the greatness of Patsy Cline's voice but she was brilliant with her phrasing and injected the proper emotion into each song... and have to give credit to producer Owen Bradley who matched her voice with just the right instrumentation (he also directed the soundtrack for the 'Sweet Dreams' movie with Jessica Lange as Patsy). These songs still sound great despite being recorded 60 years ago.

Patsy was the first female artist inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, which is even more impressive when one considers that she died in 1963 at the age of 30. A couple of years afterward, her label released a compilation of her greatest hits. It soon became the all-time best selling album by a female country artist. It took nearly 30 years for another album by another female artist to surpass her in sales--all the way until Shania Twain's pop country success in the late '90s.

This is a great movie by the way that has Ed Harris and Jessica Lange in it. The next song that you should listen to is Walkin After Midnight. There are so many Patsy Cline songs that you could listen to. Another good movie to watch would be Coal Miner's Daughter with Sissy Spacek, Tommy Lee Jones and Beverly D'Angelo playing Patsy Cline. Beverly D'Angelo sang in that movie and paid excellent homage to Patsy Cline. I honestly don't know how deep their friendship ran but Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline were friends. They are two of my favorite country artists.

A commanding voice indeed, so powerful, it finds it place in our existence. Did you know , music plays an important part in life itself. You can put together a love story of songs, so powerful, that you won't read that book again, because the ending just to hard to take. That is the true story of our existence, not some old story of Fable and Calliope. Time is irrelevant in this story of our lives, so romantic and heart breaking. But that's who we are and you will come to know this on two fine days in your life.

It's hard to put into words how Patsy sang and lived her life as she did. Love and heartbreak. I wish she could have done something with Loretta Lynn, her very good friend.

You should check out Beverly D’Angelo singing this in the movie Coal Miner’s Daughter. Beverly and Sissy Spacek did all of the Patsy and Loretta Lynn vocals in that film.
