Patsy Cline has one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "Crazy", "She's Got You", "When I Get Through With You", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "Walkin' After Midnight", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love", "Imagine That". She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams. You reacted to Home Free's version of "Crazy" awhile back.

Patsy Cline is spectacular!! I know her from my parents. You must listen to more of her songs. 'Crazy' is brilliant - written by Willy Nelson. 'If you've got leavin' on your mind' ...soulful, you feel the pain, and magical notes. 'Walking after midnight' is funky and fun. So many more. She was a major inspiration to the Canadian singer kd lang, who you've reviewed.

One of country's & just music's greatest singers !!! Nick would you believe she never took a single singing lesson, as her family was too poor. Her introductory song was on the Arthur Godfrey talent show in 1957 - She sang one of her signature songs, Walking after midnight - and America fell in love with her. Known not only for her perfect pitch voice, she also was known for being able to put emotion into her songs. She is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, and a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She was tragically killed in a plane crash...she had finished up recording at Capitol Records in Los Angeles, and boarded a plane for a Kansas City concert and the plane crashed on approach to the airport in Kansas City. Nick look for her songs...the aforementioned Walkin' after Midnight, Crazy (which Home Free recently covered) and my favorite of hers, Faded Love - she sings this with such emotion - also she did a great cover San Antonio Rose too

Another singer from this era who also recorded a lot of hits with the Nashville sound (strings, piano, full orchestral backup, and often with the Jordonaires who sang back up for Patsy and also Elvis among many) is Brenda Lee. I think you would be blown away by her vocals. You may already be familiar with her Christmas classic Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and not realize it but she has a much deeper catalogue and truly one of the best vocalists of all time. I'm Sorry, All Alone Am I, and Break It To Me Gently are just a few of her hits.

Crazy Patsy never had voice lessons. Reality is that there are more singers who never had lessons compared to those who have, but to be so good, is rare. My current favorite vocalist is Angelina Jordan who also never (at least in her early years) had vocal lessons, yet won Norway's Got Talent at age 8 covering Billie Holiday. Angelina now age 16, has sung in at least 9 different genres and has the most beautiful tone and IMO conveys more emotion than any I have heard in my 63 years. Angelina is still relatively unknown, even as the highest priority new artist for Republic Records, since her family doesn't want her promoted to she is older and finishes school. So very refreshing to have such a talent and a very smart, wise and loving family.

i first heard 'strange fruit' on my radio in the midday sun in southern Australia , walking along a row of red 'bottle brush' trees on one side and a small cemetary on the other. Im not given to crying but i was moved to tears as the song prompted me to recall my Father and his siblings forceable removal to an orphanage in 1960.
