This is a clip from "Pink Floyd: The Wall" which was their 1982 film where the whole movie is one big music video for their entire album. It loosely tells the story of a fictionalized version of the lead singer's childhood. It's a VERY good but VERY weird movie.

When the teacher reads his poem out loud in the classroom that's his way of trying to suppress the kid and tell him that they don't need to think on their own that they need to listen to their teacher

You got it. We're made to feel we don't matter, like the individual bricks becoming the wall. At the same time, we build a wall for protection around ourselves, which can turn into isolation.
@NunYaO
@NunYaO 2 жыл бұрын
The meaning of "another brick" is intended to relate to how particular experiences in life, especially negative or traumatic experiences, often contribute to the "walls" people build, metaphorically.

I'm dying at your facial expressions! 🤣 I listen to rock/classic rock all the time, so I've heard this song countless times over the decades. But funnily enough, this is the first time I've ever seen the video. Thank you for posting! This was a very entertaining reaction video, as usual. 🙂

The album, “Pink Floyd the Wall” is (somewhat) autobiographical. Written (Mostly) by my main man, Roger Waters. (You really should check out the entire album, or watch the entire flick!) Also… I hope that you will check out Roger’s solo projects, “The Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking” (With Eric Clapton & David Sanborn.), “Radio KAOS”, “Amused to Death” (Featuring Jeff Beck.) “Is This the Life We Really Want?”. All absolutely amazing! (Also… The Pink Floyd albums, “the Final Cut”, & “Animals”.) BTW… These are “concept albums”, & should not be just pieced out. They should also be listened to in headphones/earbuds. Incredible storytelling! I hope that you will give them each an uninterrupted listen, & that you will enjoy them all! Keep up the awesomeness, young man! 😁

A big welcome to the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. That hole is deep. There is no other band on the planet that had made me cry, weep, sing, scream, dance, rock the hell out of my hair, or just shut up and listen lying in a dark room with the volume at 11. No other band has made me do all that. The ringing telephone at the end is the start of the the next song on the album, "the Wall". Next song is, by my recollection, "mother". You should sit down and see the film "The Wall" in one sitting, because all Pink Floyd albums are concept album(like a baroque symphony) where the songs play into each other, often with a concept sound playing more than once in the same album. They are the classic baroque composers of the rock era. It has been said about the guitar player David Gilmour that "he can make more music out of one tone than any other guitarist can make out of the whole fret board". It would be great to watch you react to their song "shine on(you crazy diamond)" from the album "wish you were here", an album made to remember the founder of the band Syd Barret, who left the band after never coming down from a LSD high. The song "Shine on" is one of my absolute favorite songs in the whole world, and I often put in on 11 in a dark room, closing my eyes and just listen, any time I feel down..

Fortunately that kind of punishment stop by the time I got to middle school in the mid 80s, but let's just say that they dark comments were not curbed the teachers might not have been able to hits us any more, but they could make you feel very small . I wasn't a bad kid, I have dyslexia, and to say that there was no help for that is an understatement .

It is a brilliant concept video. "Another Brick in the Wall" is a rare music video that requires you to think as well as listen to the music because it uses a lot of metaphors. It was a concept music video from a concept album by a conceptual rock band called Pink Floyd. It's about the dangers of conformity and out of control authoritianism and suppressing creativity and individualism. It addresses what can happen if you don't challenge authority. The teacher is more of fascist dictator than a teacher. Concept albums like "The Wall " aren't made anymore and that's a shame. Even Marvin Gaye had to make a compromise with Motown founder Berry Gordy in order to record his classic 1971 album "What's Going on".Gordy did not think that an album with a message about the world's ecology would sell.He thought that people would not want to listen to a record about the dangers of pollution. Marvin Gaye was so passionate about the album that he agreed to do it for free and of course the album when released became an instant classic and went on to sell millions of copies and won numerous awards including several Grammys. So, even back then in the early '70s record companies were reluctant to release albums that were considered to be message or concept oriented because they were perceived to be poor sellers. You had to have been artist that had some weight and a proven track record. Pink Floyd had enough of both and were able to get "The Wall" done primarily due to decent album sales(They were an album oriented group and their recording success was dictated by album sales not singles).

Pink Floyd is a whole album or cd band. They never had any videos except Live in Pompeii. Also the making of Dark Side. Documentaries. The Wall movie leaves much to be desired compared to just listening to their albums. Time is designed to go right into Great Gig in the Sky, etc. Life is Pink Floyd & YOUR mind's eye.

It was like that,to a lesser extent at my South East London state Grammar School:) Weekly Geography tests aged 11/12 and if 1/2 the class got under 10/20 then the whole class re-took and, irrespective, of how you did on the first occasion, you got a lovely stroke of the cane for every half mark below 10 the second time(Only a maximum of 4 allowed each week). I can now, genuinely, recite out loud, alphabetically, all 50 USA States in 22 Seconds. Shame I can't change a plug or car tyre though:)

You got the movie version, which if not watched sequentially from start to end can get confusing due to matters pertaining to contextual flow or lack thereof...plus it helps to be tripping, and you're probably not, but that's not your fault, since acid's hard to find these days.....at least I can't find any.

You need to watch the movie.....You need to watch the movie.....You need to watch the movie...Don't eat any shrooms or acid when you watch it. This was a freaking masterpiece. Even the cassette tape would mess with your mind. The first words you hear are "we begin". at the end of the second side, the last words were "This is where". So, if you listened to the whole album, the last words you hear are "So this is where [CLICK,tape reversing] we begin" and it starts over.

This "Another Brick In The Wall" music video is taken from Pink Floyd: The Wall (1982) movie and actually encompasses two songs from The Wall (1979) album: "The Happiest Days Of Our Lives" and "Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)" I thoroughly recommend listening to the entire album and watching the movie, all here on KZbin. It's highly unfortunate that Roger Waters is a raging antisemitic slime ball, but what can you do?

What songs of theirs to check out? Everything. But the song 'Money' is referenced here in the poem, so you might want to check it out. 'Comfortably Numb' is a classic and should be listened to., as should 'Dark Side of the Moon.' They're both kind of mellow. 'Welcome to the Machine' was my favorite for a long time and references a similar idea to Another Brick in the Wall. Thanks for your reaction. I could hear you just fine. Do it your way.
