Regardless of what the message is behind the song, there is nothing wrong with wanting to be financially free and successful…
@flubblert Жыл бұрын
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be successful and prosperous in life, Molly. Nothing at all. But that isn't what this song is about. This song is about greed and excess at the expense of everything else in life that should also be important. It is not a celebration of success, it is a sarcastic indictment of greed and indifference for your fellow man. "Money, get back, I'm all right jack keep your hands off of my stack, Money it's hit, Don't give me that goody good bullshit" In other words as long as I got mine, everyone else can go F themselves no matter their situation or how they got there. Pink Floyd are as critically acclimated for their brilliant philosophical lyrics and commentary on life, as they are for their music. It is one of the reasons their music has remained so relevant over the decades. It would behoove you to listen to the lyrics. If you're not, you're missing half the experience. You're not going to get it all the first time. This is understood. But on second and third listen you're going to eventually come to understand that there's a lot more going on here than just music. Their lyrics and concepts are considered some of the best ever written in rock. And it only makes the music slap that much harder. Listen to the lyrics. Or have them present on another screen. Or consider doing the lyrics version of some of the songs. The music will move your soul. The lyrics will stimulate your brain... If you let it. "Money, so they say, is the root of all evil today. But if you ask for a rise, it's no surprise they're giving none away" - Pink Floyd

Bro I'm 23 years old and I went to Roger Waters live show last week here in my home country (Brazil) and I heard this song live. I dont have words to describe the experience of witnessing such high quality music in front of my eyes. When he played the second part of Dark side of the moon I lost my shit (from money to eclipse) I'm a huge rock fan and Pink floyd alongside with Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix are my favorite bands/artists ever You should check them out bro, there's so much great and creative music to discover from the 60s and 70s. They all had their own styles and I couldnt imagine living this life without enjoying their music

Yes, it's a bit mainstream, but the 7/4 time signature makes it a bit more Progressive. I said it in your Community Post and I'll say it here, you've gotta check out, Dogs of War from their LIVE album, Delicate Sound of Thunder. The sax solo alone is worth the price of admission, but the whole thing is dark and POWERFUL.

Nice reaction, just to let you know, this version of "Money" is the short version, it's the version that was released as a single and played on the radio. The album version is longer with longer sax and guitar solo interaction. The 1994 Floyd Pulse Concerts has an excellent extended version, with a creative middle section with the instruments and the lovely backup singers going back and forth.

Growing up music was always playing in our home. My mom was black and introduced me to the legendary jazz, blues and gospel music, along with Motown. I'm from Detroit, so Motown was almost mandatory. My pops was white and he introduced me to The Doors, Hendrix, Joplin, the Dead, Zeppelin and PF. When he introduced me to PF I can still hear his words. He said, "Lulu! This isn't going to make much sense now, but you'll understand someday. You don't just hear PF, you experience them!" I get it, Pops! I totally get it! Oh btw - I just found your channel and I'm kinda feeling vibe here! Awesome reaction. But like others have said this was the radio edit version, kinda. They left the curse word in but shortened the solo. One thing you don't do is cut into a David Gilmour solo!

As others have said, this is the radio-edited version and does not compare to the album version; or to a live performance. Both album and live versions have extended David Gilmour guitar solos, making them worth checking for comparison. The beat in the opening and closing verses is 7-4 time; it switches to 4-4 when Gilmour heats up his strat.👌That's one reason the song 'feels' different than most Floyd tunes.

This was their first really big hit single. Definitely more mainstream . It was everywhere in 1973 and helped boost the initial sales of "Dark Side of the Moon". What you just heard was the radio edit. You're missing about half the guitar solo. Must implore once again that you do the studio versions of these classics first for the full sonic original experience. The live 'Pulse' version of this slaps hard as well. Also, if you decide to do an album, you really only have to worry about doing one side or three or four songs at a time, then post them over so many days. Don't necessarily have to do the whole thing all at once. They probably won't allow you to post it that way anyway.

As plenty will tell you, take an hour or so and turn down the lights and put on headphones and listen to the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album from start to finish. It's only like 45 minutes long. It's NOT a collection of songs. It's one cohesive piece of music from start to finish. It's one of the best albums of all time. It spent 984 weeks on the Billboard charts! That's over 18 years on the charts! But in order to really appreciate its genius you must listen to it from start to finish without stopping. Make it a YT video. It'll get the most likes of any of your videos. :D

With Dark Side of the Moon coming out in 1973, it was a concept album with the sound effects in the intro was groundbreaking for the day. The sound engineer was Alan Parsons, pre- Alan Parsons Project, that was influential with the effects. The way to fully appreciate Dark Side is to listen from beginning to end non-stop lying back in a bean bag chair, headphones, and whatever else can chillax you.

Just as long as you understand that the song Money does not celebrate it. As long as you know that they just print that shit.. and the ones who rule the world are the ones who invented money. Silver and gold, things like that used to back the value of a dollar, but that ended over a century ago. You know what backs money now? When they're just giving it away on loans? Your labour. That's what makes you their economical slave. The serial number on your birth certificate? That accrues a 'pension' for you, over your lifetime? That's the 'ownership' piece. Serial numbers are ALWAYS about ownership. As are the serial numbers on the actual bills. That's the ownership of money. You cannot own money.. you can only give up your days for it, whore, earn, steal, hoard, or trade money. Money is NEVER something you should 'strive' for. Ever. You'll sell your soul, with that attitude. So be careful. We are in the place that eats souls. This is the Matrix.

I get your point but there’s nothing wrong with striving for financial freedom
@curtadams7406 Жыл бұрын
In its purest sense money is a medium of exchange--it allows, for instance, one who is good with figures but not mechanically inclined to spend his hours as an accountant in exchange for engaging a person who is into tinkering repair his car. That is, I think, a marvelous concept, as both the accountant and the mechanic are able to earn a living in the fields they enjoy. The key is to find that balance between striving for money (which, in effect, is striving for those goods and services we would enjoy consuming) while still having the time to enjoy our lives. Many are never smart enough or lucky enough to locate this key, but many others do find ways to strive for money without selling their souls. All of this being said, you raise some good points keetah.
