Back then people never saw a guitarist do alot of the things Hendrix could do. His style was a calm persona but electric playing and creativity with the sound. He was a very young but popular larger than life musician. He oozed a very strong inner confidence that transferred to the crowd of accepting fans. His style of dress and coolness defined him. What many people miss these days is that he also had a certain charisma about him though he was humble.

My Mom worked at CBS in the late sixties when CBS owned Fender Guitars in So California, and would take the orders from Jimi’s people when they ordered a new guitar, right hand guitar strung upside down for a left handed player. It’s great to see people discovering Jimi

You've gotta hear him play Machine Gun live at the Filmore East on New Year's Eve 1969/1970. He was with The Band Of Gypsys. That song contains the greatest guitar solo in recorded history!

It's complete mastery of an instrument. So much so that it actually became an extension of himself. If you can find it, check out his version of "Machine Gun" from his BAND OF GYPSYS album.

At parties there would be people that always had eyes on Jimi to make sure that he was ok. At one party Jimi disappeared, and those that were looking after him went on a frantic search to find him and make sure he was ok. They found him in the garden looking upwards and he said, 'scuse me while I kiss the sky.'

reason why it looks like he's not even trying is because Jimi was sleep walking through this tune burned out for this gig which he didn't want to do but needed to do to help finish paying off the cost of Electric Lady Studio, he was more focused on finishing what would be his last album and would have rather have been in the studio than at this gig.. ...
