At the end he said “call some more blackness, not badness”. He was 41 years old here. I saw him over 100 times live in concert from 1971 until 2005. My all time favorite entertainer.

@@The3Dsmash well the first time I went was 1971 and the last time I went was 2005. So that’s over 34 years so that averages out to about three a year.

This is the man that Michael Jackson bow down to!! Michael was hypnotized by this man as a child, and studied every move he made, and the rest is history. Even the rappers stole so much of James Brown's music too. Hands down our number one musical GIANT.🌹

James Brown was the real deal -- an institution. The name of the opening song is "The Payback". As a matter of fact, I was just listening to it earlier today. The name of the song after he talks about the best of his work is "Cold Sweat" and here he plays the song almost twice as fast as it is on the record. The fade out song is called "Say it Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)" from 1968 and was famous for its affirmation. James Brown played that concert in association with the legendary boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman that came to be called "The Rumble in The Jungle". Zaire doesn't exist anymore. It collapsed in the nineties in the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. Kinshasa is now the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A few years ago I discovered a musical act from Kinsasha named Tshegue. The video for their song "The Wheel" follows a pack of kids on inline roller skates as they hitch rides from trucks on the highway at speed! Crazy stuff, but the music is highly infectious, simultaneously technological and primitive, with a driving beat that never stops. The video for their song "Muanapoto" tells the story of a teenage girl with a hearing disability who lives in the slums. At least that's what it seemed to me watching it. The song is not in English or French. At any rate, it's nice to think, even if it may not be true, that James Brown inspired that music too.

James Brown invented Funk 👌 Also him and his drummer Clyde Stubblefield are kinda the godfathers of hip hop as the funky drummer by James Brown is most sampled beat used in hip hop

"Some more Black music!" is what I hear him saying .... This would be the concert where B. B. King said he got blown away by James Brown. You need to check out James Brown at the TAMI show, from maybe seven or eight years earlier - it'll knock you out of the ballpark!

2:01..He pioneered the sound that would be called Funk,--Godfather, indeed. Danny was J.B's emcee 25 years, was one of his backup singers from the early days. 3:20--That's Lola Love, with him from late 60's until 1979..The lady could flat-out-dance! I knew James would blow ya away..I've got the concert/fight video..The Spinners, Crusaders, B.B. King, Bill Withers all played great sets, too..The movie's called "When we were kings", Award-winning Documentary.
