Does anybody else think its fckn ridiculous that skin color dictates what someone is or is not allowed to say? Either something is said to be disrespectful or its not, and we all understand the difference. I'm personally so sick of people acting like words are weapons.

I think the message was missed because of a word. He compared 2 different white classes that offen get confused. He compared 2 different black classes that are often confused. He then said it doesn't matter because it's the system playing us against each other and until we wake up and realize this we will keep falling for their bait.

It's more about how there are good and bad characteristics in all races, and sometimes, we can all live up to the stereotypes set on us by others, as well as how the system sets up those situations to cause division within communities. It also shows the other side of how those stereotypes, though sometimes partially true, definitely aren't representative of our cultures as a whole. I think it's probably also important to note Adam's upbringing. He grew up with mixed groups in the hoods of Chicago, where those terminologies were most likely more acceptable and readily used amongst friends without more negative conitations.

It's crazy that one word has so much power over people. Maybe it's time to let that power go. We don't need to empower a word to cause such distress and maybe we can just let it come down to intent.

Might have missed the message a little bit… the 1st verse and second verse had a theme… the negative white trash and then your average white people. Then the ghetto vs good black folks. It was showing the bad and good on both sides and pointing out each race has bad apples and good hard working regular folks. It is a shock value. Respect your opinion not to like it though. He’s not racist, he’s from Chicago, grew up in the hood. PS there is an Easter egg in there… the dude rollin a joint is also a rapper who has passed since this video

Also, Adam grew up battle rapping in Chicago 😂😂. He is part of the culture. I am like you. I am from the sticks in the South, and hip hop was my outlet. Moved to Bham when i was 13, and I gravitated towards black folks. They were my people from that point on. I was born in 84 btw. It was accepted for us to say the N word with an a too. If we were rapping along with songs, it was definitely just normal. Idk wtf happened. But i hate it sooooooo much. Btw, i moved back to the sticks when i was 27. My son is best friends with pretty much all black dudes. He grew up saying the n word with his friends, still does. I don't...I say dude 😂😂. The more my son matures, the less he says it. Hi Nelson. It's funny how you say al the things Adam is trying to say in the song but don't see it😂😂 Notice the difference in outrage when it comes to offensive words for white vs black? We are trained to accept a hypocrasy that is based in rac!sm itself. Everything should go both ways if we really believe in equality. Thanks to the machine our minds are messed up to the point that even the most righteous of people overlook that point in the effort to do right. It's ingrained in our belief system for decades. All the derogatory statements made based on stereotypes are difficult…. This was to highlight differences that are created within communities. I am not sensitive to words, but there are many I choose not to say myself. Adam was making a point that there are segments within each community, good and bad, but they exist and they have “names” we all know. Ultimate point is, we continue to be pitted against each other by them.
@destorer5000Ай бұрын
As a black woman, I can say I clearly saw the point of this song. All of those names are equally racist, but people only care about the N word. Ridiculous
@Todrick451Ай бұрын
I knew Kendrick! He bought his mom a house in the community I lived in like 10 years ago... He was there often and I got to know him without knowing WHO he was. Even once I was informed who he was... didn't care. Never liked his music, I just dont feel it... but he was a good dude. I moved away in 2018 It's odd... I like Old Hip Hop... Ice T, NWA, Sir Mix A Lot (NO, not BBGB... like Jack Back, Swass, Posse's on Broadway), Then... didn't like much for YEARS... all the NWA solo whit, snoop, tupac, biggie... just none of it connected with me. I was primarily into Metal and Punk during that period.... eventual Industrial (I was in a signed international touring Industrial act) Then... Eminem broke through.... who didn't like Em? then again a huge gap... And now, I listen to select rap... Tom, Adam, older Jellyroll, Mesus.... a few others. What gets me now is really genre-bending. Bands that are either clearly labeled as one thing, but HEAVILY mix in elements of other genres: Tom - "Rap" but dabbles in Pop, rock, country Jellyroll - not only WAS he rap... but he blends rock and country with rap lyricism, it's impressive. Falling in Reverse - "Metal core", but he's a better rapper than most current hit rappers. or absolutely undefinable acts... like Sleep Token.... WTF genre is that? Metal, pop, hip hop, gospel, funk, disco, house, shoegaze, core?
@KennethReitz-i1qАй бұрын
Ok 2 parts of verse one and two parts of verse two part one of each verse shows the negative stereotypes part two of each verse shows what reality is for a lot of people, and it does not fall into the stereotypes take it for what it is. So when he says what about a red neck…it’s all good and when he says what about black folks it’s all good.

When i first heard this track it was one of the first i heard of Adam. Made me feel a certain way towards adam. Made me look at hime like some white boys i know who use that word. But as time has passed i realized this is marketing. This is shock value to draw eyes to his message as well as his music. And didn't think i liked that. But as i have processed it more iver time. I realized i dont dislike something shocking im drawn to it. What i dislike is the things that are triggering yet have zero substance at all. Its simply to generate the views. And that i absolutely hate. But if your saying something triggering/shocking but there is a point or an actual message behind it. I can move past the shock and still receive the message.

@James-pq5piАй бұрын
You don't feel good about it because the mainstream has turned us against one another. Adam wasn't stirring the pot, he was pointing out that division is foisted on us. The last verse brings us TOGETHER while pushing back on the mainstream hatefest. He was NOT bashing everybody on both sides. He shows the bad of both sides and the GOOD on both sides. Definitely go watch Stevie Knight interview Adam. In this song was pushing to bring the two sides TOGETHER. Regardless, you are doing a GREAT JOB but I do think you missed the meaning a bit here. Keep up the good work!

His point was. No matter if its aimed at white or black. One is just is racist as another.... The fact that white people are so uncomfortable saying something like that about black people but black people think its perfectly acceptable to say shit about white people. I am sure not all of them. But they are always given a pass. That just blows my mind. But I get where you are coming from. And why you would be uncomfortable.

@lindacherry7242Ай бұрын
He could have had one of his black friends voice it and then at the end show them both stop using all the insults. I hate that Kendrick uses it ….its good you don’t like it and he and his white friends don’t like it either. You have to decide to swallow when the youth use these words so we can get to the point. If Kendrick can stir up the pot he also has to be able to voice his opinion with the voice he has, and get to know him.

That's exactly how it was in northeast Texas where i grew up. My black friends weren't offended by the N word as long as it had an A at the end. The hard "er" on the end was meant in a derogatory manner, & was definitely offensive to most people here. My black friends weren't offended by either version, now tha5 i think about it, but we all said the version that was said in music, with the "a". We knew if someone said it with a hard "er", it was meant to offend. I hate how groups & races are all lumped together by the same people who claim to be against racism (virtue signal). Everyone is different, regardless of immutable characteristics. No 2 humanss should be grouped together in a perfect world. We should all be judged on our individual actions. I do agree with everything u said here. I think this song was just for attention. It was unnecessary. Being a reactor, i can imagine how incredibly finicky u have to be. U can possibly give an honest reaction & get cancelled, but ur entire purpose for content is to give honest reactions. Much respect for even attempting to tackle this song.
