Rammstein you either love or hate in germany, there is no in between. Personally, i don't like the music, beeing really far from metal, but: best video and superb lyrics! Our "mainstream media" here in germany were arguing about, if this is a nazi video or not. How fucked up are we now in germany? It is about what has been, we are not proud of, and the longing for a day, we could be proud again. Or never again. Our own propaganda machine nowadays tells us, there is nothing to be proud of, we should be ashamed our whole life. And our "Bundestagas-Vize-Präsidentin", a person who usually keeps our debates in parliament under control and regulates, said about some past soccer world cup, i think it was a past one, we should go easy on the german flags, meaning, we should use them much less and with care. Wtf? Some politician is ashamed of her own country, obviously! We are now so messed up here in germany, don't know, what the press in other countries is telling you about us. I just could shoot myself....Love Ireland, been there 3 times! Nice reacting video from you! ;-)

well there are several things to add here: ramstein is named after the german town of ramstein, where the largest us overseas base in the word is situated and the site of one of the largest air show tragedies that ever happened. (a jet crashed into the viewers) they are categorised as "neue deutsche härte" wich translates into new german hardness the depicted scenes in the video show several negative highpoints of german history. at first the battle of the teutoburg forest, wich is glorified by nationalists as the birth of german identity then the class divide in medival times where the aristocracy and clergy feasted upon the areas of future germany, but the peasentry starved 30 years war etc following that next the war of communism vs fascism in the german population from 1900 onwards, (spoiler fascism wins) then the 3rd reich and the holocaust after that you got the divided germany, where you have the german democratic repuplic party officals partying while the population cant get enough toiletpaper and on the other side in the federal republic of germany you see the so called german autum and the communist terror group of the red army faction. the text and video try to tell the viewer why nationalism and the idea of german surperiority or uniqueness is poison and why you shouldnt blindly love your nation. the position of the text is, if you know and understand german history on an ethical and intelligent level you cant love germany, because you know where that leads and had led, what you would try to love and what associactions would come with that. dont be a patriot or nationalist, be a realist and humanist

A big part of the German history in one video. The black woman as Germania (the personification of the German nation). It isn't and was never a Goddess or a Queen. I have an idea about the glass coffin: It is Little Snow White from the Grimm-fairytales....and from their own video "Sonne". Only with black skin and in space. The battle of the Teutoburg forrest against the Romans (and Rammstein as Roman soldiers and Germans alike). That battle is of ABSOLUTE importance for the German history. The hanged bodies in the trees were the beaten Roman soldiers, who were gruesome sacrificed to the Germanic gods...and were partly nailed to the trees. The Varus-(Teutoburg)-Battle was already in 9 AD. In 16 AD were the vengeance campaigns of Emperor Germanicus. Therefore we see here the arrival of the Roman troops of Germanicus and they are watching their dead comrades hanging in the trees or getting their heads chopped off (for nailing them to the trees). In reality the Romans under Germanicus found only the bones of the Varus army in the various ways they were slaughtered, sacrificed and displayed at the trees. Slaves were liberated even decades after the battle. The V2 rocket (first manmade object in space) as technical triumph of the German spirit...and at the same time the killing of the concentration camp prisoners in the bunker factories below the mountains during the production of that rocket. This scene in the video could be a representation of a very specific concentration camp. It was "Mittelbau-Dora" below the Kohnstein mountain. A mixture between a big, huge bunker factory for V1 and V2 rockets and a concentration camp. The concentration camp inmates had several different markings for different kinds of convicts and their "crimes" sown to their chests, like it was in reality, too. A pink triangle for homosexuals, the star of David for Jews and two of them were marked with the double-triangles for Jehovas Whitnesses. The book burnings of the Nazis and the burning of the witches of the church. In the same scene with the book burning there is EVEN MORE going on. The cooperation of the church with the Nazis, when the priest with the cross embraces the Nazi SA-man. The communist GDR (it was Karl Marx in the background of the scene with the tank). The scene with the sign with the Hammer and a pair of compasses in a circle of wheat is the sign of the GDR (DDR). The socialst German state in the east that existed before the German reunification. The leftwing terrorism of the 1970's in the scene with the pumpgun and Germania taken hostage. The Hindenburg Zeppelin disaster (the burning Zeppelin in the background) and more and even more. My interpretation of the red scanner-like beams: There are two different kinds of beams. The massive straight red light beam that goes up into the heavens AND there were those smaller, thinner "scanner" beams. Aliens (or humans from the future) are scanning the whole German history. Like some real scientists are scanning and excarvating ancient Mexican or Egyptian statues, for example. The massive red light beam is the red ribbon of time that ties together all the historical events. PS: As for the dogs: Germans are fanatical dog lovers. We are a dog-owner nation. The dog is a firm part of Germany. PPS: They didn't eat the body of the woman and her inner organs, even if it really looked that way. They were eating the national dish of Germany, that was put on the body of the black woman: Sauerkraut, Kassler & sausages. PPPS: The short scene with the dogs and their gas masks = WWI, where in reality animals (messenger dogs & horses) AND soldiers were wearing gas masks, too. PPPPS: The puppies at the end are Leonberger dogs. The Leonbergers nearly went extinct during WWI and WWII. PPPPPS: My interpretation of the glass coffin is Little Snow White in space, like I wrote before. PPPPPPS: The black woman in the prison was dressed in a Prussian uniform with a Prussian helmet. The pumpgun-scene and the hostage scene was from the 1970's, when Germany suffered under leftwing terrorism. Finally: The scenes I'm now talking about are pretty dark & low light. The WWII submarine in the submarine bunker during the astronauts are walking by with the glass coffin. I think, the choice of the black woman as main actress was made, because: a) it makes any accusations of racism and fascism against Rammstein useless b) she represents one colour of the German flag and she is wearing the rest of the colours of our German flag as makeup and jewellery and clothes on her body: Black, Red and Gold c) it provokes many people EVEN MORE 😄

You have to be German to truly understand this song.. Basically they sing about the dilemma most Germans are experiencing today of being proud to be German, in spite of its very violent history and the Nazi era, the Communist DDR (Eastern Germany), the crusades ect ect. "Deine Liebe ist Fluch und Segen" translates into "Your love is a blessing and a curse". "Deutschland, mein Herz in Flammen, (Ich) will dich lieben und verdammen. dein Atem so kalt, so jung und doch so alt" Translates into " Germany my heart on fire, (I) want to love and curse you. Your breath so cold, so young and still so old". When you go out into the world today as a German, the first thing ppl in other countries think about is what went down 80 years ago and as a German you feel ashamed and that your "not allowed" to love your country cause of what happened which is bullshit.. Every country has a dark chapter in its history.. France, Britain, America, Spain, Italy.. damn, even the Netherlands and Belgium and I could go on and on.. We should ALL be allowed to love where we come from despite of the facts of what happed decades ago.. I myself have experienced being called a "Kraut" and a "Jerry" while spending time in London and that was in 2012..

bjhellstream I agree with the first comment, pausing in the middle is like biting a piece of sushi. You don’t get the whole composition, just the parts that form it. Even for the sake of a reaction video, watching it whole in the first place and than watching it again with pausing would surely give a much more credible experience, just how the artist wished it to be seen and heard.

Well that’s true if you have a memory of a fish so that you cannot remember what was playing 5 seconds ago, or you don’t have arms to rewind it 5 seconds. Seriously, stop telling people how they should do what they want to do. Go watch Lost in Vegas channel, guys gonna tell you go fuck yourself in a polite way, ‘cause that’s how they want to make these reactions and that’s how they like it most. To tell actual reaction and not just fucking sit there for 4-10 minutes and then try to remember everything you were thinking about. Your opinion can change throughout the song. What the point of that part of video then at all? I don’t wanna watch a guy move to the music for 6 minutes. I want to hear things, you know. Stop telling people how they should do stuff, go find people you like and watch them.
@DutchDread
@DutchDread 4 жыл бұрын
@@BORN753 Well, while I am telling people what to do I might as well tell you to start using paragraphs. People are free to react how they want, and I am free to have my opinions on that. It's too often that I am waiting for a specific part of a reaction that is then suddenly undermined or even unnoticed because of random pauses. People do have shitty 5 second memories, if you are pausing and commenting then your brain is busy with those actions, and not with the actual experience. But even if that weren't the case, remembering what something is like is not the same as experiencing it. a LOT of work goes into the proper flow/pacing of songs and movies, the idea that simply interrupting that flow does not have an impact on experience is laughable quite honestly.

It's controversial mainly because of two things. 1. The depiction of themselfes as jews being hanged, which could be argued to be tasteless and 2. The line "Deutschland Deutschland über allen" (Germany Germany above All) is almost the Same as the banned first line of the national hymn which Was removed after the second Word war. For obvius reasons. So no, it's not about hiding history.

I Was at the rammstein concert for this Tour, and a whole Stadion screaming this line, when before it starte I could see a woman tw rows before me looking up Post by the afd (german alt right/nazi Party) creeped me out. This part of german culture is absolutely not being hidden anywhere in Germany and there are constantly New exhibitions and art things done to remember it (like the New stolpersteine Bein laid out just recently). Hi, I'm from Germany. Rammstein is playing a classic "Industrial Metal" style. A 50-50 mix of synthesizers and hard metal guitarrs. A big part of the German history in one video. The black woman as Germania. Germania is the mother of the German nation. It isn't and wasn't a Goddess or Joan of Arc. The glass coffin: It is Little Snow White from the Grimm-fairytales....and from their own video "Sonne". Only with black skin and in space. The piano song at the end is the song "Sonne", too. After the scenes with the Romans we saw the Hindenburg Zeppelin disaster (the burning Zeppelin in the background). The moustaches and clothing from the fight scene are from WWI and post WWI years. From the working class people in WWI and the roaring 20's. In the WWII years later on this kind of big bushy moustache was already out of fashion. The scene with the sign with the Hammer and a pair of compasses in a circle of wheat is the sign of the GDR (DDR). The socialst German state in the east that existed before the German reunification. Therefore it was Karl Marx in the background in the scene with the tank (not the scene at the concentration camp). The scene with Rammstein wielding guns (the pumpgun) and taking Germania hostage was about leftwing terrorism of the 1970's. The terrorists were called the RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion). In my opinion it symbolizes the church eating itself fat on the goods and values and food of Germany during the simple people (farmers, simple workers etc) lived a long time in a kind of hell of poverty and serfdom (the red fetish area below the table with Germania on it). But that eating scene could indeed have a double meaning. It could represent the 30 years war, that was fought for religious reasons and depopulated large areas of Germany. It forced the people to commit canibalism because nobody was there anymore to produce food. Except the fat, wealthy people of the church, of course. They were still able to eat enough. Only the simple people at the bottom (farmers etc) died from hunger and had to fight and die in that war. The 30 years war was the biggest catastrophe in Germany until WWI happened. Finally: The scenes I'm now talking about are pretty dark and low light.

The line "Deutschland über allen", meaning "Germany above all", is a recognition of the first line of the German national anthem. The line in the anthem says "Deutschland über alles", meaning essentially the same mean, is also illegal to sing when singing the national anthem itself as it was banned after the fall of the Nazi party.
@blueisthecolourofourplanet7121
@blueisthecolourofourplanet7121 4 жыл бұрын
Ah no. "Deutschland über allen" means "Germany above everyone" where as "Deutschland über alles" mean "Germany above everything". The distinction is important because it is not only a reference to that forbidden stanza but also a very essential part of the meaning and theme of the whole song. Deutschland über alles, the forbidden line, was originally meant as a call to come together and work for the goodness of the newly founded country. Until today Germans have a very local sense of pride. This is because they used to be a lot of independent regions that were at each other's throat a lot and still make fun of the others traditions, dialects and what not. The song line asks them to recognize that they are one country now and to put the good of that country above their local squabbles and to stick together. It's a call to put being German above being Bavarian, above being Rhinelander above being whatever region you come from. Until the Nazis reinterpreted the meaning. Now it is no longer "put Germany as a while above your regions" now it is "Germany is above everything in the world because it's better than the rest of the world". Those are the two meanings of the original "Deutschland über alles". Now Rammstein sings "Deutschland über allen." This über has nothing to do with being put above something or being above in the sense of being better than something else. This über has, connected with the allen (everyone), more of a covering type of meaning. Germany, and its past, hangs above everyone, like a cloud or fog hangs above things. This reflects the meaning of the whole song: the country and its history looms above everyone who tries to love it and keeps them from doing so. Germany hangs above everyone, every German. Of course there is also a positive interpretation, it can be above everyone in an umbrella kind of way, protecting. But that is also the essence of the song. A curse and a blessing. So yeah, I don't think they put it in there just for the scandal and they didn't change it like that to get around the restriction on that stanza. They put it there because that sentence is a part of history and its change shows the change in the country.
