“This is the exact same advice I always give to my son” Ren: That’s the worst possible advice you can give a son
@Killermcknight
@Killermcknight Жыл бұрын
Yeah the way he meant it and the way it came across from his comment is different. He summed everything up into that comment, so it sounds like he’s meaning it about money, but how he actually meant it is that he’s basically trying to prepare his son that you won’t get handed things in life and that the world doesn’t give a shit about you and that you have to prepare to just look out for yourself and do work for what you have, etc.

@@MichaelSmith-bn6hm what can you change right now that would affect other people other than yourself? If it's so simple why don't you stop paying your taxes and Bill's? You'll find out really quick how much your country cares. But Ren isn't talking about a single country is he? No his message is regarding a civilization and society as a whole. It's much bigger than any individual. respectfully I definitely over exaggerated in this video exactly what I tell my children. In reality I just stress the importance of college to my teenager who doesn't want to take education seriously. The world revolves around work and compensation. I actually don't find that to be a bad thing. I guess my life isn't in such despair as Ren points out but his message is a systemic one that took era's to create. If you could change one thing what would you change that would affect anyone other than yourself? I could be kinder, I could volunteer more, I could vote for politicians, etc. but Ren is talking bigger, wider, and again about a systemic society.

@@MichaelSmith-bn6hmHaving the money to be comfortable, good, having more than you need and not helping those in need, bad. Its all things in balance, this is why Ren is saying that community is lost through this 'lambourghini for a life, trading money for souls', you dont need all that, you shouldnt lack the morals to gain the money. Money in and of itself is not bad, its what people do with it, to go back a bit "you're a liar, a devil, a cheat, a whore, and you sell sea shells on the sea shore' Jimmy is an example here, again, its relating to responsibility with what money and power you have. Ultimately the message is to temper that advice, no the world wont care about you right now, but build in that advise to change the world around you so that it does

Such is the truth in the beauty. 45 ... the number of "mine mine gimme" in the US.... our 45 embarrassment. But yeah, Jimmy had so many chances to take a different path and help the world, but he constantly chose the greedy path. Trying to get his daddy's approval and then his dad died with no closure to that constant seeking. So he was stuck on that path forever grasping for that unattainable goal... spinning out until the life changing injury showed him the truth. Five years of brooding on his wasted life, following the "code" of the "land of the free" and all it got him was a lot of things. Lonely empty things and nothing but a broken body. Then He pressed the trigger. Our way of living, grasping for power and money (that isn't even real it's all a construct of our own device) and trying to grab everything we can get, whether we need it or not, always stepping on ppl just to get the biggest piece of the pie... even when we aren't hungry. It's suicide in the end. Humanity could be beautiful. We could be a community, working living in a harmonious environment. But we choose parasitic suicide. And maybe we don't deserve to survive. We keep choosing dystopia over utopia. We keep effing it all up. We need to just figure out where our societal path diverted and fix it. We need to find our community again and learn to work together. There's always gonna be those that are greedy and just all about themselves to the destruction of others ... but we need to rebalance the scales and put more on the side of community and giving and giving an actual crap. We need to outnumber the greedy. Money is a necessity, greed is not. We can do this. Else I'm afraid, like he said, humanity will consume itself to death. Ren is a genius and i hope ppl hear what he's saying and take it to heart. Great reaction!

The message has gone completely over your head if you're thinking it's just a music track though. He clearly says 'this is not entertainment'. Although he wants the album to do well, this is obviously not his motivating factor. He even gave away a chunk of the pre album sales in prize money in his Money Game hunt that ran for 2 weeks prior to the release. Your fears for the album are also pretty unfounded - apparently he's battling with industry backed Drake for this weeks number 1 album. I think he'll survive.

Spoiler alert, just in case you got here without seeing and hearing Money Game arts 2 and3, The storm literally came Jimmy's way on the date he decided to end himself. Another cool thing I noticed was when Ren removed his hood he was pointing the mirror at himself , acknowledging he was a part of the money game as he sang about in earlier MG tracks of needing to replace blaming others is easier than pointing the mirror at ourselves, and coming to realize we are as much a part of the money game as anyone. In Hi Ren, Ren states to his inner deamons, I will be great and I will make waves I'm a genius, , I believe he was 100% correct,. Even if he has doubts about it himself, I believe he is, at least where music, story telling and creativity are concerned, the tale of Jenny and Screech full as well as the money game 1 2 and 3, and What Went Wrong part 1 and 2 are all good examples of this, as well many other original tracks he has offered, show he's in his own lane for sure.

@PageMonster I hear your sentiment but unfortunately however much I want a different world it's a society and cultural change that would need to happen in the western civilization. It's a civilization problem that won't be fixed unless a major societal disruptor on a scale much like the internet changes it. Unfortunately, Ren is an inspiration but I don't think inspirational music will change society. Our life as we know it will take decades and countless advancements before we see a fraction of a society utopia. Not to say that you can't live in your own utopia created by your own personal perception and perspective but that's individualism not a systemic solution.

@curlz9391 I don't see how being realistic is "calling it quits" and "given in". in 2050 there will be 9.1 billion people on Earth.You can Google that if you want. As an individual, what can I change today, that would affect anyone other then myself? I could be kinder, I could volunteer more, I can vote for politicians, etc. all those things are individual choices right? Ren's message is to a civilization that would require a hivemind or collective of peoples to make a change. How would you hurdle millions of people to make a change to a system and civilization? How do you change the minds of people who don't care, or don't live in despair, or don't think the system is bad? Ren's message and music is inspirational and I hope that whom ever listens to it will feel empowered to be more empathetic/selfish. however, I am not delusional and live in a fantasy. This is more of an extreme call to action for people to be less selfish and more empathic nothing more, nothing less because in reality there is nothing more you can do. Give me an example I'd love to have a conversation about this!

you said yourself you tell your son 'nobody cares about you just take what you can'.... one of my first memories as a child was getting a coin or 2 from the 'tooth fairy'....how old was i then? under 5 i would think...thats the first steps we all make into this money game. if you havent seen ren has been running a week of competitions giving away 1000 pounds each day to the winner of riddles focussed on each of the 7 deadly sins, the riddles and puzzles were not possible to be solved individually so we had to work as a TEAM with others to work out the answer. an hour before this song was released the final game was a live treasurehunt to find a life changing amount... you need to watch that video from start to end... then with that in mind rens message from this song is clear.... as a TEAM of PEOPLE we are capable of changing the system, why should people in some areas of the world be starving while other countries have so much food wasted it could feed a country? we have the resources to solve this...

I 100% agree, this one is on par with "Hi Ren". Ren wrote all of the music for this including the orchestral parts. He said he practiced quite a bit to get the piano intro right. He also said that this isn't precisely a one take, it has a single cut in it, but it had to due to some logistics and time constraints. He explained it all in his Twitch live stream after the video dropped. He's really proud of this one, and should be. It's another great example of Ren's pure musical ARTISTRY. The greatest sculptures in history were created slowly, persistently, over a long period of time, one small chip at a time. Chip, chip, chipping away. Ren's illness is the marble, his musical artistry is the chisel...and look at the masterpieces he's now created. A modern day musical Michaelangelo forged through fire....and the world is better for it.

What a great honest reaction gi this masterpiece - I could literally see the wheels turning… I want to say, as Ren is I think, it doesn’t have to be a vicious cycle that never ends. That’s really the point of the movie (it is isn’t it? A short movie?) right? it starts with the kids. There is nothing wrong with telling kids “take what you need and leave the rest”. The alternative is kids that are indoctrinated into a life as dutiful consumers in a culture of “me”. The end of that path is the Petri dish that has nothing left to consume. Consumer mania is going to end one way or another.

PF's intros are long for a reason, and many ppl are so stressed up that they just can't relax. Something has to happen fast and all the time, or they lose their interest. I think that's the big difference between PF and Ren: Ren get you hooked already from the start, while PF first work to put you in the mood for the message. An old song I like is "Hold on". "Seven sins" related to Money game as does "Wicked ways". I hope you get back on some Ren soon. He has a fun trck called 'Loosing it' and an omage to 90s called "What you want"

Hi guys, like you I'm still taking it all in and looking forward to watching loads of reactions! My initial take is that Jimmy's tale gives us a very 'successful' persons perspective of the money game and its pitfalls. Part 2 is more about the system and how it plays out while part 1 introduces the idea of the money game and how we are kept blinkered by distracting us with easy targets like immigrants. Part 3 is clearly beautifully crafted visually, I'm not sure about the classical music, the piano and the string quartet, it will probably grow on me. I think the continual striving for more even when you have wealth is partly due to its intoxicating effect but also partly down to our instincts, the survival of the fittest. I think you make a good observation about how Ren's art will be passed down the generations. I haven't been this engaged with music/art since the Sex Pistols burst onto the scene in the UK and shook up both the music scene and the political establishment. I'm very interested to see where this goes (Ren), I do feel there is a certain amount of hysteria growing among fans, perhaps I'll just put a white bag on my head and join the cult of Ren, although there's probably a market for them, how many can I put you down for?
@Killermcknight
@Killermcknight Жыл бұрын
Completely agree with your sentiment on this! Although we did actually enjoy the piano and string quartet, I think it added to this in a really cool and unique way. There are plenty of other artists I enjoy, but none excite me in the way Ren does with what he does. Haha, definitely put us down for two!

We are much stronger together than as individuals. You would be surprised how little a minority group needs to form to be effective at changing the regime. If a group of 3.5% or more of the population work together history already shows us that these engaging this minimum threshold have never failed to bring about change. Now if you also consider the lengths governments, big business and lobbyists work at preventing, breaking up or retarding traction towards these types of groups forming you will see how the "Money Game" works. They achieve this through distraction, minimization creating falsehoods of choice or by pitting one group against the other. Government and the people that hold the power know only too well how fragile their grasp of control really is. rEVOLUTION

The only way to escape the money game is to renounce the rat race and material possessions. The biggest question is how to do it.. .. ..stop chasing "the latest", be yourself and don't follow the flock, buy repairable items and durable clothing. If possible, grow as much food as possible.. .. got too much, there are those that need it

I *literally* just started to watch you guys react to this one and had to comment on the go out on a limb bit re: "Hi Ren II". I've already seen the video as well as other reactors views on it and yeah - I'm with you. This one is EPIC. Better than Hi Ren. THE message in Hi Ren still stands on it's own (hands down) BUT MG3 here is incredible. It's Ren & Sam's BEST one to date.

Take the message. Dont tell your son that bullshit. Yes, you need to look out for yourself, but if you live in a society of egotistical people, there is no community anymore. Get that paper, but look out for the people around you

I get that money is necessary but life should not be all about the pursuit of it. The problem with our society is that people value objects, including money, over the people in their lives. We're addicted to the dopamine hit we've trained our brains to give us when we get a deposit in our account instead of getting it from seeing someone's eyes light up when we help them with something or connect with them in some way.

At the end.. the gun didn't fire. .It's the ultimate symbol of a money game (arms) and it failed. (my interpretation but I'd love to know if anyone heard different from Ren - I think he's playing chess and I'm playing checkers most of the time). The idea is to balance the good of money with the evil of money... it's the idea of balance which is not where we're at as a society.

i think you are in your own bubble so you can‘t realize what ren really means. if you listen not even carefully to ren‘s interviews and other stuff you should notice that he always tries to show you that money is a big problem in the world and divide communities. hence no, he doesn‘t try to suggest the son should take all he can, because exactly that is what communities divide. he tries to convey that such fathers cause pain in their sons having one bad influence on them. is it really not obvious to you? money game 1 and money game 2? hello?

Im not sure if anyone has spotted Jimmy is short for James. Jimmy's "Father" speaks to him first at age 5.. James Chapter 5 in the bible is called A Warning to Rich Oppressor's about the misery which will come from wealth and self indulgence... His father also speaks to him at age 13 and 18 = chapter 5: 13-18 "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven." A reference to the Sick boi theme, sins and opportunity to resolve thise sins. Im not religious but this understates the IQ and genius of Ren

I just hope your son doesn't go the way of Jimmy. And for you, don't be like Jimmy's father. Greed won't help but pride in your son in what he endeavors to do with life will help more then always pushing for more and more, and love him and support him.
