I said it when Hi Ren came out. I'm still saying it... Ren is the single most important artist of this decade, maybe this generation.... thats not an opinion of skill, though I'd definitely rank him in tje top 5 artists I've heard in my 47 years...but important because of his messages. And in this age of censorship he isn't afraid to tell it true.... not just for himself but to edify all of us. There have been a lot of great independent artists lately... but if Ren doesn't get some kind of humanitarian award for his body of work, it'd be a sin.

Ren is attempting to create a movement where we live as a unified community. We’re born, educated, told to get good grades, find a well paid job, raise kids and repeat the cycle. We aim for everything we can attain, even if it’s more than we could ever need. Ren wants us to help each other. The only time we should ever look down on someone is to help them up. Bring on the renvolution.

The rain rain rain at the end was such a great touch echoing back to part 1 and 2. if this doesn’t win a load of awards then Ren should demolish the music industry in another epic video. For an independent artist to be this creative and the mainstream to ignore it is unforgivable

After watching many, many reactions, I have come to realize that WHEN, in the story, the blinders fall off tells us a lot about where someone is in taking of their own money bag. No judgement, honestly, we are all fed this as basic truths from infancy and it is a process to work through it. Bro on the left clearly picked up the small hints of trouble right off. Bro on the right seemed extraordinarily uncomfortable with the cookie jar comment. But his eyes said he understood.

It's interesting watching people react and seeing where the line lies when people decide the father's influence is a bad one. Some jump on it immediately, some at the point he says being in the palace doesn't mean Jimmy's won, some never do and think Jimmy just took the advice wrong. It's so intriguing.
@AndrewJonesMcGuire Жыл бұрын
And a depressing amount of reactions - where people think that Jimmy only went off the rails because his father died - like, the buying a seat in the senate, dealing arms and then smuggling drugs and guns - was also perfectly ordinary - because that all happened before his father passed away. Even less people seem to notice that Jimmy's life direction takes another dark turn, after every time his father offers his "wisdom"

For me it's the tone. The strings, his cadence and the way the father says "man" to a five year old. I went there right away for sure.

Can we talk about how genius this guy is in his art not just as a wordsmith and visual storyteller, but how he even puts score composers to shame with the shifting mood settings in the phrasings of the piano and the a string quartet... He may not have studied it officially, but he definitely did study classical composition... ...and then theres the spoken word part where he builds the tension so beautifully by actually ending a line with the word "tension", leaving the next line UNRESOLVED, and then pausing the words to show us a gun on a table, meticulously removing and folding his jacket, then loading the gun before picking as he picks up the lyrics again. The blatant disregard for trigger discipline that follows as he speaks his truth again only serves to fuel the unresolved tension more, all the way to the end of the song, despite knowing what's coming...

I’m not sure everyone gets the money game head coverings. When you see the start and the camera comes to piano player two, the headpiece looks like a bag of money with a rope tie on it on a floor, before Sam cams it straight. Think back to early times and how money was in a money sack and was handed to someone with pieces of silver in it etc.
