How can anyone genuinely say they haven't heard this song before! Lmao this song is always the radio, in the grocery store, bars etc

I bartended for 5 years, and I always turned on the lights and played this song at closing time. 😆

My Daughter had a apartment while at UGA above a bar in downtown Athens. They blasted this song every night at 2am. Needless to say she hates this song with a passion now.

Still relevant to my days in the 70s. Describes clubs and bars perfectly.

This song is actually about the lead singer's son being born, but they thought that would be kind of a lame song so they decided to hide the message and make it sound like a song about a bar closing. "This door won't be open until your brothers and your sisters come" I'd love to hear you do a reaction to "stand tall" by Burton Cummings kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2G6lWuofLyVd5I

Yeah and The line, ‘turn the lights on above every boy and every girl’, is reference to a maternity ward.

Tbh being drunk at the end of the night it's almost like being a newborn... The main difference is that the "drunk newborn" knows the basics of how to operate in society XD

I never knew this, but it blares now. Thank you for this. This is the song of my childhood, and it means so much more now that I'm a dad. You made this song happy for me for the first time.

When this song came out I swear for the next 10 years and still sometimes now this is the last song of the night for every bar.
@Gadeberg902 жыл бұрын
Like most good songs this song also make use of metaphores. It isn't a song about closing something physical like a bar or a store. It's more like closing a chapter in your life and getting ready for a new one.

This is one of the songs I teach my beginning guitar students. Lyrically a much better song when you learn its about his unborn baby. Still recommending Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4 or Make me Smile (guitarist Hendrix called a better player) Rush - Tom Sawyer (Arguably the best drummer to ever live) Yes - Roundabout (different from anything you have listened to)

Great reaction, so happy to see you checking out all types of music. If you are not familiar with Lupe Fiasco, I would love to see you react to him. Much love and peace friend! 💜 Also, never played it when we were closing but it has played at the grocery store where I worked at lol

@@imafgc That's cool. I'm glad they are still doing something musically. They are obviously talented. Sometimes bands just come on the scene at the wrong time and don't catch on in a big enough way to sustain them. It's too bad.
