Woah, someone reacting to SP. My favorite band ever and I didn't ever think to look for a reaction to them. This just randomly popped up. I'm 6 months late, but IDC, I'm watching it anyways.

I just did the Dig It Review & storytime in my growing up in rock & roll playlist. Here’s what I notice, this girl may have filmed some of this long ago. This girl doesn’t always seem to be grasping or discussing lyrical content or the style of music like we started this genre, I grew up with these boys as my babysitters and possible cousins. Except my fam had joined the m*b… I have to say it’s all alleged for now. Many aren’t here anymore and many might still need to be found. I have several deceased friends. We used to help write songs growing up so I’m doing storytimes discussing some of these kids contributions to the arts. For instance I helped write Suffering You by 16 volt when I was just 5 yrs old… that’s how talented us kids were. But many were used in the industry and aren’t here anymore; thrown away. If people like child exploitation 8 ab*se then by all means support these bands. Some were great, some were not. I’d rather see people giving a platform to the bands that cared rather than the ones that traumatized little kids. I should do the psychedelic s*crifices storytimes next but it won’t be for the faint hearted. Worlock was one of mine. My stepdad may have studying Manson. It may have disturbed kids. We may have grown up in a s-house 5 (like the book) of sorts where people would join just to k their kids. And this band was knee deep up in that & might have a lot to answer for. Pick bands like 16 volt who cared about their fans instead of giving a platform to the bands that don’t deserve one. These kids they were writing about without consent lived on the streets in poverty while they enjoyed a nice life. It’s sick.

Yes! This is the song that got me into Skinny Puppy! It definitely sounds very strange at first but the more you listen, the more you get sucked in and realize how deep it really is. I would recommend watching the "music video" for Worlock, it's basically a high-speed mash up of the goriest horror movie scenes at the time, a lot of them being cut or banned in many countries.

As a Skinny Puppy fan since the 80s (yes I’m old) thank you for discovering them! Read the lyrics… there are a lot of homophones. In this song, it’s “A view so cruel” and “of you, so cruel”

Got to see this song live in 2014 in Chicago and my now ex-wife got Ogre's "tooth" during the performance ( it was a prop that was pried out of his mouth on a camera) and we still hold that memory very close to us! A lot of people dislike Rabies for its Ministry influence but it's still a great album and Worlock is such an AMAZING track!!

Some trivial about the lyrics: "With the right attitude you will succeed Blue. Self-abusive recluse is too late for me." ... Blue is a reference to "Cyan" - the name of an ex-girlfriend of Ogre (vocalist). (An associate of mine used to babysit their cats.)
@Vwlss
@Vwlss 6 ай бұрын
Based on comments I've heard from Ogre in interviews and soundchecks I'm pretty confident that he's the "self abusive recluse."
@kevinhampton6986
@kevinhampton6986 10 ай бұрын
Al Jourgensen of Ministry played on this record and did some production and engineering work. Worlock has samples of Charles Manson and he's the one singing Helter Skelter by the Beatles. Skinny Puppy lyrics often touch on animal rights but I think the lyrics to Worlock deal mainly with the Manson family murders (Blue was the nickname of one of the Manson girls). I do think they were written in such a way that it can also be interpreted as a commentary on animal cruelty through testing as well as media censorship.

According to what Ogre said at one of the VIP soundchecks before one of the dates on their Final Tour this past spring, "Blue" was his girlfriend at the time. This means the song is at least semi-autobiographical. The reference to "skinpopper" seems obvious, but based on other comments he's made in the past it's not hard to imagine that when he says "self-abusive recluse too late for me" he's talking about himself.
@kevinhampton6986
@kevinhampton6986 9 ай бұрын
My guess is that Ogre is interconnecting Manson's Blue and his Blue. He intertwines themes in his lyrics all the time. It would make perfect sense in this case considering how Worlock seems to be at least in part about Manson and the Manson family murders @@careyclevenger3584
