With Slayer it is important to realize they like reading horror novels and watching horror movies. They wrote predominantly horror songs. The vocalist/bassist is actually a practicing Catholic. He is a nice guy. I don't see anyone calling Stephen King or Clive Barker satanic. For some reason when it is music that is the place many people go to. Perhaps it is because music is so emotionally powerful.

Yeah sure, because Slayer is now history. Come on man, enough with the BS. All these crazy over the top crap they accused them of during the Nuremberg trials have already been debunked by those who said them in the first place. They've already confessed that none of the "atrocities" ever happend. They were given a script with all the things they had to say. I'm not making this up, look it up. It was all BS.

This is a song from the album Reign in Blood, most of the songs in that album have really fast tempos, not really the type of songs I would recommend to someone who has never listened to Slayer before. Except for maybe the songs Postmortem and Raining Blood (Postmortem serves as an intro to Raining Blood so It's better to listen to them one after the other ) They aren't nazis, they just like to tell stories about war and horror. Blood Red is about commies/soviet horror, Jihad is about islamic extremism Recommended songs: Postmortem+Raining Blood, South of Heaven, Silent Scream, Live Undead, Mandatory Suicide, War Ensemble, Blood Red, Expendable Youth, Dead Skin Mask, Skeletons of Society, Seasons in the Abyss. All of those are from the best era of Slayer and much more easier to listen than Angel of Death

@@patrickmills5425 another song from this album that is widely overlooked and underrated but, doesn't have a long play time that needs serious recognition is "EPIDEMIC", (which coincidentally is quite relevant to the current state of our planet right now.) It starts with a quick, tight & punchy, galloppy guitar riff but, then settles into a really "PITty" slaming groove before finishing with another, quick picking, in-your-face kind of a guitar riff. This song will launch a newbie to SLAYER into a instant die-hard slayer fan for life! "EPIDEMIC, Permanent Disease"

Hard to believe this song is 35 years old... seems like only yesterday that I bought it... By the way, the bridge was used by Public Enemy on She Watch Channel Zero and Kerry King played guitar on The Beastie Boys Fight For Your Right.. They also had Jewish management and a Jewish producer (Rick Rubin) Tom Araya (vocals and bass) is of Chilean descent.. They are definitely not a nazi band.

I'm an old school Slayer fan too (my favourite band on even numbered days; Iron Maiden gets the odd numbers). It's great to see the introduction and self-exploration of the music that metalheads hold dear. As an older metal dude, it warms my heart to see all these younger generations get introduced to all this kick-ass music we've enjoyed sometimes for decades before they have discovered them. The thing about slayer over it’s damn near 30 years career, is that it always made you look at the darker side of things in society. It put it out there, it made you look at it, and made you come up to your own conclusion. In the time Slayer came became popular it was the time of glam rock bands and grunge metal. Things with flowers and daffodils and feel good music. This was in your face heavy riffs, blistering guitars, brutal drumming, and if you made it to a show, he would find a way to get out your aggressions with two or 300 other like-minded individuals in a pit.

This song is basically a thrash metal documentary of the atrocities that occurred. You would not say people who create a video documentary of the Angel of Death were glorifying it. In 84 or so it started becoming a thing, Speed. Kerry King, one of the guitarists here went to see Exodus playing & he was impressed by how fast their drummer was, Tom Hunting . So that sorta spark an influence for speed , also Mustaine recoieved a challenge letter froma fan something about see how fast is was , which sparked him to makes something really fast. and Metallica in 83 were already playing really fast stuff with the merge of Punk x Metal , …..The speed...…..which this song has just makes that breakdown even that much better.

It just amazes me when young people who reacts for the first time to this song pop-up all around. Well, I'm 42 so obviously this is the metal that I grew up with. :)

I'll continue my shouting out for you to check out Mastadon, The Last Baron, Jaguar God or Halloween for starters. Oh man, you like guitar riffs and groove, Mastadon have them both in loads :) Lol after 7.57 I had to go back and watch that again your reaction (or lack of one) is great

Personal opinion, but anything after crack the skye is just .... meh ... Blood mountain was my favourite album by Mastodon. Heavy , Groovy, experimental clean vocals, and suuuper dirty growling vocals. I have seen them live 8 times, the last was last summer on their 10 year anniversary of CTS. I can sadly say I have no need to see them again after that tour. They lost their spunk live, and their vocals were actually terrible. I was so bummed after that performance.

I think of this as a protest song, if we forget these historical events we are bound to repeat them. So I feel if we scream out those horrific lyrics we keep it in the forefront of societal mind in protest against these behaviours.

Some of Slayer's music is really heavy but slow tempo. I highly recommend "World Painted Blood". You'll dig that one for sure.

My first Slayer song was this song. I fucking loved it and went crazy with head banging to the rest of the album. I had a terrible headache and my neck was stiff. I still head bang to the whole album.

Kerry King, Jeff Hennamen. (Of SLAYER) Their biggest influencers were Judas Priest, Glenn Tipton and K.K. Dowining, that is why you mentioned a similar thing between SLAYER and JP.

Slayer - Raining Blood is probably their most popular song and worth checking out. Any of the songs off of Reign in Blood are going to be really fast and super fucking aggressive. I'd definitely recommend you check out songs off of Seasons in the Abyss like the title track Seasons In The Abyss and Dead Skin Mask. Both are a bit more pulled back speed wise and both have pretty nasty groovy riffs. Dead Skin Mask is about the famous serial killer Ed Gein. South of Heaven is another more groovy yet aggressive as hell song to check out. I got to see Slayer live last November on their Final tour and they were killer man!
