Hmm, do you realize this "alien" is only five foot four inches and 100 pounds? What further proof do we need to officially declare that Sohyang actually is an alien? You deserve a pat on the back for not breaking into tears when you heard Sohyang sing the three songs you have reviewed. I'm 64 and I cried at least the first dozen times I heard her sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water." I mean why would a grown man, and almost a geezer at that, be reduced to tears by a singer other than that she has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard and can do things with it that I have never heard from any other human being? Anyway, I can only suggest you look at the second song I ever heard Sohyang sing, "Arirang Alone." I am still in awe of this woman more than three years later. To me (any many others) she is the best singer on this planet. Thanks for your great reaction. There are a plethora of live performances by her available to react to. They all astound in different ways. 'Misty' (Ella Fitzgerald cover), the one from the outdoor BeginAgain concerts series, is so completely different and shows her jazzy more delicate abilities. It is awesome. More voice, less instruments and no backups. She is simply a vocal monster (but not a very scary monster).

David Foster originally arranged a concert for Sohyang in Vancouver, BC but she had to cancel out, most likely due to pneumonia, which was plaguing her at that time. So he invited her to a 30th Anniversary of the Tokyo Blue Note Club series of eight concerts he had committed to, and Sohyang was able to perform for those in November and December 2018. 😎

G. Well, Sohyang IS a unique form of beautiful agony. She captures and utterly beguiles you until she lets you go. I DID noticed that you spent some time looking away from her image. She must be watched. If you take your eyes away, you WILL miss something charming. I'm glad you recovered and bravely went back and replayed most of that astounding performance. It is my personal favorite. She takes on an adorable stage presence for this Classic song - when she tugged up that slinky blue gown and slid across the stage like a sultry Blues Singer in a 1940s movie, I melted into my chair. In this lovely gift from Sohyang, she is at times; cute, glamorous, beautiful, playful, intense, dramatic, friendly, happy, serious, connected, and energetic. All of that, while in absolute control over her voice, the musical arrangement, the stage, and the audience. Alien or Angel, there is no one like our lady Sohyang.
