The lead singer name is Chester Bennington, he has one of the best voices in rock history. He unfortunately took his own life in 2017. Linkin Park started out as Xero, and they were part of an LA hip hop collective called Junkyard Scientific, which also included Styles of Beyond. Their genre was alternative hip hop, mixed with influences from electronica, trip hop, rock, metal, and 80s new wave. Their label, on the other hand, tried to market them as the next Limp Bizkit, and sell them to the nu metal/rapcore audience. But not only was that not their sound, but they literally wrote a diss track about that kind of music, called "Step Up", which calls out the rap rock henre for having no hip hop credibility and just "rapping over rock"

This song is less nu metal and more raprock to me. The vocals are grungy. Chester(the lead singer) doesn't get enough credit fron being good at singing grunge. His origin is practically grunge, his og band is post grunge. Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Soundgarden are his biggest music influences.
