@Beitlet This song came out at the time of the Viet Nam war & our military saw some pretty awful stuff, so that's what Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride was all about. Woodstock was back then as well. 😎✌🏼🪖☮️

I think the first time I ever really heard this song and took note of it was in 1996, it's in the movie Star Trek First Contact. The inventor of Warp Drive, Zephram Cochrane is a big fan and plays it while he launches his prototype ship into orbit for the first time.

I saw Steppenwolf a few years ago on their 50th anniversary tour at my local county fair. They still have it. It was a raucous fun concert. Never thought Pusher Man would be the encore song. Tim, Pusher Man is another song you should check out. It was one of the first anti-drug songs. It was also banned in Florida for being blasphemous even though they used the correct meaning of God Damn as the ultimate condemnation of evil.
