A very lovely smooth calming reaction ❤🧘🏾♀! I see 👁👁 that you have reacted to Stevie Wonder before: Ribbon In The Sky and Ebony And Ivory. My Cherie Amour was released as the lead single from Stevie Wonder's 1969 album: My Cherie Amour. It was written by Stevie Wonder, Henry Cosby and Sylvia Moy. It was produced by Henry Cosby. The song reached #3 on the Cash Box 100, #3 on the Easy Listening chart, #4 on the R&B chart and #4 on the Hot 100. Billboard ranked it as the #32 best song of 1969. The song title is French for "My Dearest Love". Stevie Wonder wrote this song in 1967 when he was a student at Michigan School For The Blind, recording a rough version and putting into his trusty "tape box", where he kept his song ideas. He wrote the song for his girlfriend at the time, Marcia, and the song was originally titled: "Oh My Marcia". By the time he recorded the song, Marcia was out of the picture, so Wonder changed the title to: "My Cherie Amour". The song was first released as the B-Side of Stevie Wonder's single: "I Don't Know Why (I Love You)", in January 1969. Many radio station disc jockeys flipped the single and played "My Cherie Amour", so Motown Records reissued the single with the sides reversed. Stevie Wonder also released Spanish and Italian language song versions titled: "Mi Querido Amor" and "My Cherie Amor", respectively. Stevie Wonder left quite an impression on Saturday Night Live when he was the host and musical guest on the May 7, 1983 episode. Eddie Murphy had perfected a Stevie Wonder impersonation that he often did on the show, so he and Stevie Wonder teamed up for a bit where Eddie Murphy is auditioning Stevie Wonder impersonators, and Stevie Wonder applies. Stevie Wonder makes a mess of his audition, singing way off key and out of time, so Eddie Murphy shows him how to do it, singing a few lines of the song: "My Cherie Amour", quite competently. After a few tries in his fake voice, Stevie Wonder does it for real and the audience goes crazy. After a pause, Eddie Murphy says: "It still sucks, man". This song plays a part in the 2012 film 📽: Silver Linings Playbook. Bradley Cooper's character: Pat, goes off the rails when he comes home to find his wife cheating on him while this song - their wedding song - is playing. From that point on, the song becomes a trigger for Pat, who loses his mind when ever he hears the song. The song has been covered by many artists including 📻: The Jackson 5, George Benson, The Ramsey Lewis Trio, Johnny Gill, Smokey Robinson And The Miracles, Donnie Elbert, Tony Thompson, Myleene Klass, Duncan Lamont, Eliane Elias, Charles McPherson, Hugo Montenegro, Susan Wong, Al Martino, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Nnenna Freelon and more. Critical Reception 🗣: Cash Box described it as "a haunting ballad with a slight Latin underbeat". Billboard said: "Poignant reading of this love ballad previously released as the flip side of Wonder's 'I Don't Know Why'. It should score in tab, easy listening markets as well as pop and quickly surpass sales of the original side". Lyrics 📝: La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la My Cherie amour, lovely as a summer day My Cherie amour, distant as the Milky Way My Cherie amour, pretty little one that I adore You're the only girl my heart beats for How I wish that you were mine In a café or sometimes on a crowded street I've been near you, but you never noticed me My Cherie amour, won't you tell me how could you ignore That behind that little smile I wore How I wish that you were mine La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la Maybe someday, you'll see my face among the crowd Maybe someday, I'll share your little distant cloud Oh, Cherie amour, pretty little one that I adore You're the only girl my heart beats for How I wish that you were mine La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la Stevie Wonder Info 📰: Stevland Morris known professionally as Stevie Wonder was born on May 13, 1950 in Sagnaw, Michigan.
