I've lived through a lot of changes in the world these 70 years of my life but this is by far the most confusing, chaotic and maddening era ever. My generation is going to be gone soon and your generation will have control of the world and I just pray that you all do a better job of running things than mine has. Everything you said I agree with. I am just so grateful that I have had Pentatonix to sooth me when things get to be a little to much for me. Great reaction young man as always!
@barbarabishop93622 жыл бұрын
Ditto. I'll turn 70 in ... 3 days. Ugh. I listened to the end of this video and frankly agree with everything that was said. I do understand the human tendency to separate people into "like me" and "other" and react badly to "other," but it's not an irresistible force - though it takes effort and some degree of self-awareness to quash it. I remember that the 1990's seemed like Humanity had turned some kind of corner; that the collapse of the Soviet Union and the dismantling of the Berlin Wall showed that we had shed some layer of racial "meanness," for lack of a better description. Evidently not. In the U.S., Trump didn't create the rottenness he unleashed; he just gave it license to reveal itself. Boris is basically just a smarter version of Trump - someone who believes himself to be above the laws of the land. Someone who thinks he should be allowed to do whatever he wants because ... well ... because he thinks he's at the top of the food chain, the apex of society. This belief (held by many, MANY of the wealthy members of every society) needs to be debunked. I'll stop now...

Watched this a zillion times, still hits like a truck. I *did* think I was done crying at it, tho - but I watched it hit you, aaaaand here we are, me and the tissues. But as I say to my kids, "We honor our tears in this family" - they just mean you're letting yourself feel the world. And I *so* feel your "what is going on in the world today?!?" We're living in the worst-written timeline, like, Ever. However - don't beat yourself up too badly for what you describe as "hiding". "Hiding" would be more like refusing to admit that we do indeed have a lot more work to do. But none of us can do it all, or even do whatever our personal 100% *all the time*. It's like the airline instructions - "put your oxygen mask on first". Sometimes you have to step back and protect yourself, in order to have enough strength to go back to the fight. The world does need to hear this song. The world *does* need to hear voices like yours, being...outraged at What's Goin' On. I would point out to you, that over 100K of us have learned a little bit about who you are, and we're subscribed precisely because of that. Thanks for feeling, thanks for staying open, thanks so much for sharing with all of us out here on the 'net.

Hello from the Bronx ,NY. Love your reactions. I agree with your “rant”. Raising tolerant and accepting children is possible. I raised two sons (single mom), now aged 48 and 41. I can honestly tell you that the best teacher is by example. One of my dearest friends was a gay man (now deceased) who my sons grew up knowing well as he often visited. He was a kind, gentle, often hilarious soul and he is missed. I now see my granddaughter being raised to be accepting as well and it brings peace to my heart. I’m sure that most of your audience feels as you do. You have nothing to apologize for. Take good care of yourself and God bless.

I agree 100% with you and you don't need to apologise. Superfruit would love what you said because they recorded this with three of their friends in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. They dedicated the song to "anyone who has ever felt pride in who they are and for anyone who has ever doubted the power of their own uniqueness". Scott and Mitch both faced homophobic discrimination when they were kids growing up in Texas. Mitch in particular was bullied for the sound of his voice. Look who's laughing now eh?! He has made a huge career and millions of people happy by having one of the most beautiful voices in the world!

This is actually the first time I watched one of your videos to the end. And I am glad I did that. As a gay man in a small town in Germany it is hard to be accepted the way I am. One might say, "Move to a big town", but that's where I grew up (Berlin). To get to the point why I loved this rant of yours is that my co-workers and my boss are quite ok with me being gay. But if I came and presented a black man as my boyfriend or husband I would probably lose my job. How does the skin color of my partner affect their lives? Or his religious belief? You were so right on the money saying that it shouldn't matter. And I am so happy to hear that you raise your kids to be open-minded. I look forward to seeing your journey down this rabbit hole with PTX and Superfruit even more. You might want to check out Mitch's solo material as well - Messer: Where Angels Pray, Machine or Roses are masterpieces with an 80's vibe to it. Stay safe and enjoy every moment!

Scott and Mitch were quoted by OUT Magazine saying, “. . . decided to make this video with some of our closest friends in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.” As an American who happens to be gay, this musical collab between Super Fruit and Brian Justin Crum, Mario Jose and Mary Lambert is not only beautiful but powerful. When you have five uniquely talented individuals who happen to be gay come together and dedicate this performance to the LGBTQ+ community at large shows their character. Despite their success as performers they know and still experience the same biases and homophobic hate the rest of us experience. So this song means just as much now as it did then given that the radical conservative majority in the SCOTUS will most likely end marriage equality here in the U.S. They want to overturn the cases that recognized the constitutional right to same-sex marriage and struck bans on sodomy and contraception. In other words this would allow individual state legislatures to prohibit these constitutional rights. That way they can dismiss the case by saying that they are letting the people make decisions without saying that the minority of hateful Americans are now in control of the majority of Americans who still believe in the land of the free and not the oppressed.

I grew up (in the U.S.) in the 1960's/70's, a part of the generation that tried to be more tolerant and accepting of people who were in one way or another "not like us". I thought that we had been pretty good at walking in the shoes of others and being empathetic to the realities and needs of others. Of course, there was still a lot of room for more improvement but we had made a fairly strong foundation that future generations could build up on. (Or, So I thought). It is SO disheartening and frustrating to see how easily it can all be undone. And it is being undone by many of that same generation (and their children!) Yes those causing the most harm ARE a minority, but they have managed to highjack the system, and it IS frightening and sometimes overwhelming. As tempting as it is to ignore it and hope it goes away, you are right in that nothing will change for the better unless each of us face it and do what we can to make things change. I truly enjoy watching your videos and I look forward to seeing more. Take care!

I have seen this video (rise) countless times, but when I watch reactions to "Rise" I always love seeing when the big note happens. It never disappoints me how people react when it happens

This is one of my all time favorites!! Never apologize for expressing your true opinions! And I completely agree with you - there is something wrong when a small group of people can change things for the worse for millions of people! If everyone would quit worrying about what others are doing and just tend to cleaning up their own lives - this world would be a better place!! Love your reactions! ♥️

Great rant! Never could understand why some folks get so obsessed over what the neighbor does! Mind your own damn business and concentrate on being the best person you can be yourself,then offer opinions.

As a father, I am most proud of teaching my son the only reason to criticize or judge others is because of your own insecurities.

Thank you for your beautiful reaction to this beautiful video. I agree with your rant. Please react to Pentatonix video "Mad World". It is incredible. They released it in 2020 and we know how absolutely mad the world was then. Kinda still is a mad world.

Okay, now I’m fired up again over BJC. Why this man isn’t more of an absolute international star, I’ll never know. Check these 4 covers: Tell Him (duet with Matt Bloyd); I Have Nothing; Shallow; All I Ask/Believe. You may continue from there. A stunning voice, a stunning man and watch how he uses the camera with his eyes. You will think he’s in your house singing directly to you!

Great Reactiom! I totally agree with your “rant”. If we could all be more accepting, this world would be a much safer, pleasant place to live. They did this song on the anniversary of the Shooting at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando Fl. These artists are all members of the LGBTQ+ community. Blessings to you and your family!💕💕

I am so happy that I watch reactions of singers and bands I love, because now Icame across you! You were not ranting, you were telling the truth. This song always makes me cry! I was born qnd lived in Romania, post communism, the gov is just horrible, came to the UK thinking maybe it will be better.... but The torries are just the same, everyone always focuses on two parties, labor or conservative and noone of these parties have ever done anything to help their people! We have a fost of living problem because of the war of Ukraine and Russia... yet we the people never asked for it. All of these people in power make life changing decisions for us, brainwash us... selling inequality, money ranks, taxes as freedom.

Whenever I hear this version of this song, I always fight to keep my composure. It's not only stunning to hear, but there's this vulnerable strength when they sing. I don't know how to describe it.
