Before there was DeBarge there was Switch, where Tommy and Bobby DeBarge the older brothers of the younger DeBarge siblings, Also in the group Switch, member Phillip Ingram is the younger brother of James Ingram (R.I.P.) Switch was discovered and signed to Motown records by Jermaine Jackson and Hazel Gordy, who were a married couple at the time, Hazel is the daughter of Barry Gordy.....

fun fact: they got their band name 'switch' from the fact that they could all play instruments and would often 'switch' to different ones during performances.

they could switch lead vocalists too.

Yes, I heard that too from a friend of mine who's uncle was a sound engineer who did some mixing on some of their albums. Love these old school R&B groups who could not only sing but play instruments too. That takes skill, work and talent.

I am particularly glad that you enjoy this.... This is soul music late 70s early 80s... I am glad you are connecting with actual black music... This is wonderful... Because it transcends Generations... This is your lineage.... I'm Generation X we created hip hop but without this type of music it would be no Hip Hop.... What's scary is that the did Young Ones never know anything about this music... This is the only thing we really have that connects us all... you can go anywhere in this country and ask any black person about these records... They may not know each other but they all can agree on all these records... but the powers-that-be want to erase history and feed younger black people a bunch of f****** b*******

At the same time, we also had The Sylvers. Another young talented family! One of my favorite songs from The Sylvers is "Cotton Candy", and "Misdemeanor" by Foster Sylvers. Can you believe we (in the '70's) had The Jacksons, Switch and The Sylvers all at the same time! Us folks were blessed.

Switch was great with baby making, break up & lets get back together & funky songs. Switch had 3 great lp. & many hits in 78', 79', 80' before the passing of Bobby Debarge R.I.P. In 2019 Switch came out with a nice single called I love you more. But haven't found out if a lp. was made. Here are a couple up tempo cuts from Switch: Go on doin' what you feel

It's the rhythm section groove like Earth, Wind & Fire, the bass & drums groove. Just what's on top is different. But even the bass groove here very similar to That's The Way of The World. They even got a high falsetto singer . Lead vocal sound like DeBarge though.

Influenced by Jermaine Jackson's "You Need to Be Loved" written by Jermaine, Kathy Wakefield (RIP) and Michael McGloiry. The bass line, harmony and overall feel. Plus, Michael McGloiry plays guitar on "There'll Never Be" written by Bobby DeBarge. That may be the reason it sounds familiar.

This classic songs are jamming and golden just like the switch there never be, the jacksons life of the party, show you the way to go, dancing machines, one day in your life and music and me by Michael Jackson and the sylves are the best classic of this records history especially the ones with these rhythms and baselines and trumpets were incredibly popular sounds created a dynamic of wood barely noise with highest quality. I love it! The west coast Los Angeles California gangsta rap group like NWA, tha dogpound, and death row chronicles and the world musical performances were very ultimately supermega dope and goat.
