“ You dont know me but I’m your brother- “ one of the greatest lines ever. Mike grew up in Ferguson, MO. He worshipped Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.

There are two Doobie Brothers. One with Michael and pre-Machael. They are both excellent but totally different. It just shows what great musicians these cats are to be able to switch styles so effortlessly.

Back in the mid late seventies, AM radio station KFRC in San Francisco, which was very popular ( in the days before FM took over ), had a night time spot they would do called ‘Takin’ it to the streets’ with this Doobie Brothers song playing in the background ( specifically the sax solo segment ). A priest from the local catholic archdiocese would host the thirty-second spot in which he spoke about various issues, such as getting help for drug addiction, homelessness, etc., offering words of inspiration, and information on how to get help. Anyway, every time I hear this song, I think of that radio spot.
