As others have said on here, The Doobie Brothers were two different bands depending on their lead singers, when Michael McDonald (the lead vocal on this) took over their sound became more soulful and less rocky. If you liked Michael's voice check out his track 'Sweet Freedom', by the way he was also in Steely Dan.

Michael McDonald is a fantastic vocalist but to compare him to the Bee Gees is unfair. Cause Maurice Gib (Bee Gees lead singer) and Michael McDonald have completely different voices and really only compliment the kind of music they did. Like, Michael McDonald couldn't sing Disco and Maurice Gib couldn't do rock or southern rock.

FYI - This song was almost never made! This version of the Doobies was about ready to break up after a tour of Japan. Michael McDonald was working on writing this song, but couldn’t quite get it right.
