The murder was obsessed with the novel “Catcher in the Rye” he actually had both the novel and Lennon’s latest album when he shot John. It’s tragic I wish John was here now. The Beatles changed the world.

Last time they ever played live. Arguing downstairs while recording their last record - they decide to go upstairs, in the cold, with lousy little speakers, and play a few new songs - while doing this, a crowd gathers below in London, wondering, what the hell is going on>? WHo is this? Once word gets around its the Beatles, cops are called to shut it down - which they did. Always the originals.

In other words, the biggest and arguably the greatest band of all time made 13 albums within just 7 years. Most bands take that long between albums. They went through many different periods with their sound. Their early work is catchy, pop-rock, but they evolved and grew into all sorts of genres such as folk, baroque, hard rock, psychedelic rock, avant-garde, experimental, classical, blues, dance-hall, even ska and the beginnings of heavy metal. I recommend reacting to Strawberry Fields Forever, I Am The Walrus, Tomorrow Never Knows, and A Day in the Life.

Also John wasn't the "main person". John and Paul are credited as co-writers on virtually all their songs (200 or so), but the thing is with The Beatles is that every single member was considered as integral to the whole group as the others.

You're too easily impressed! These days all you have to so is Google his name to find out about him... or almost anyone else for that matter. Or is it that you're impressed that he even took the time to do that? If that's the case, I would be impressed as well considering that young people these days aren't curious about anything except trying to become famous by posting moronic videos on KZbin like these two idiots.

@@mrfester42 How else would you expect people to learn about them? Try to make sense next time you go around spreading hate. Something the Beatles were against.
@mrfester42
@mrfester42 3 жыл бұрын
@@chloe8568 How else you ask? Read a book. Do you even know what a book is? You ARE too easily impressed and what is there to be impressed about? Hitting a few keys on a keyboard? Using Google is nothing more than participating in a popularity contest. You young people are clueless regarding how you're being led by the nose by using your so called "information sources" like Google. When you do a Google search, the results that pop up are NOT necessarily the truth or what is factual. What you get is a list in descending order of what millions of people have previously searched for. The most popular search is the one that is the highest on the resulting list and NOT what is most accurate or factual. Even Wikipedia is a questionable resource because just about anybody can add to it. I've been reading about the Beatles almost since I first saw them on American TV in 1964 and what I've learned is that there is a ton of inaccurate information out there on the internet and even in the countless books that have been published in all those years. What most young people haven't learned is how to tell the difference between factual information and misinformation. Here YOU are telling me to try and "make sense next time" when you're the idiot who isn't even aware how blind you are. You're also too thin skinned to realize that my comment has nothing to do with hate. You all hear something that makes you a bit uncomfortable and you start screaming HATE,HATE, HATE! My initial comment was motivated by concern and even love which you're also too blind to see. You're an over sensitive little baby but I don't hate you. I'm pissed off and frightened that young people have become so shortsighted and arrogant that they don't have a clue how to think for themselves. Grow up and grow a thick skin and get off your lazy ass and learn how to think for yourself. Learn how to question EVERYTHING you see. Learn that reason and logic plus FACTS equal the truth and NOT some Google results. Learn that the easier way is rarely the best and most truthful way. Learn that the only way to get ANYTHING of substance and value requires effort and work. Learn to value some discomfort because that discomfort and effort means you're on the right track. Learn that even though work makes you tired, it also makers you stronger. Punching keys on a keyboard is NOT an advantage or an improvement over anything. It's a crutch that you don't need and it's hurting and blinding you and you're too willing to sit back, relax and fall into that trap. The two young guys who made this video ( and all the other countless fools who make videos like this) are are clueless little morons. You learn absolutely nothing of importance by watching these two attention starved idiots. It couldn't be more obvious how proud they are to show the whole world how ignorant, uneducated and unimportant they are. They can barely even string a few words together to make a coherent and grammatically correct sentence. and didn't have one meaningful or insightful comment about the music they were listening to. Just like YOU, they are totally blind to the fact that the ability to speak well and write well is an outward manifestation of ones ability to think coherently and logically. Listening to new music and bullshitting back and forth about it with friends is nothing new and there's nothing wrong with that at all BUT to think it is somehow so important that the whole world should listen in is naive and even arrogant and the fact that all you other young people who view this think it has some great import or great value shows how misguided you are and how distorted your view of yourself and of the world is. I did the same thing with music when I was a kid but I had enough self respect and sense to know that it was just goofing around and nothing more. If you think that what I just said about them is hate then you're just as brain dead as these two idiots are. And last, don't presume to tell me what the Beatles were about or what they stood for. They were and still are one of the very, very few heroes I've had in my life and are, in a sense, the motivation for writing all this. When you were very young and your parents yelled at you when you were doing something stupid or dangerous, it was not motivated by hate so grow the fuck up. BTW, don't bitch to me if this post is too long and your attention span can't handle it because it that's the case it's just another indication of how lazy you are.

Just so you guys know, this was the Fab Four's last performance together on that rooftop in London, on January 30, 1969. What a remarkable career. So many albums and songs for you young guys to explore. You two just cannot imagine how big they became in the USA after their Ed Sullivan TV appearance in early 1964, which I and my family watched live back then. Worldwide it was known as "Beatlemania". Check out their first movie "A Hard Days Night" (1964) where you'll get a lot of their early music, and it's a very entertaining movie too. This movie pioneered the way for future "music videos" that are common now. They split up about a year after this rooftop event.

The Beatles did split up about a year after this performance in 1970. They all eventually went on to solo singing careers, Paul McCartney formed his band Wings in the 1970s before going solo and still performs. John Lennon was shot and killed on December 8, 1980 outside his New York City apartment building, The Dakota by insane fan Mark David Chapman after returning from a recording session with his wife Yoko Ono. Lennon had signed his autograph on his final album Double Fantasy belonging to Chapman and had a picture taken with him hours before his murder as Chapman stayed and waited for his return.

There really were no leaders of this band, Paul McCartney and John Lennon did write most of their songs. No matter who sang the song, the writers were credited as Lennon/McCartney, unless it was a George Harrison song. He did write a good bit of songs, too.

One suggestion I'd have is to go down the rabbit hole of who the Beatles got their influences from. This is wide and varied in scope. Before they got a manager who put then in suits they were 4 obnoxious leather clad drunks who loved American rock n roll and r&b. In 1962 for example they played Where Have You Been All My Life new year's eve. The song had been released earlier that year by Arthur Alexander. They covered the b side as well Soldier of Love. Song in many ways sounded like the Drifters who I'm sure they loved. Chuck Berry was another favorite. That's just one avenue. Elvis, Gene Vincent, Bill Haley, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly and many more kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4PSpJyBr92FgMk

Love this, my mum was walking past when this was playing - it could be heard for mile!. The album is LET IT BE. John and Yoko all for peace, ironic that John should be tragically murdered.

which part did you want to know? The murder, or the Rooftop Concert (their last public performance)? there was a group, 3 of us HS freshmen, whom discussed plans to drive to NY to try and take chapman out...im sure we weren't the only ones that thought of it, but they had him seriously guarded. Fucker shot him 6 times was it, or 4?...in the back, then sat and waited for the cops.

Lennon was shot right outside his New York Condo Building coming home from a session working on his last album, by a guy with a Jodie Foster obsession. Terribly tragic.

@@garrettnorth3771 you are correct. I am a little shocked that I got that wrong, being a film guy and knowing the odd relation to Travis in Taxi Driver who had an obsession with the Jodie Foster character, and wanted to assassinate a political figure and Hickley. I'm gonna blame it on late night commenting and hightail it out of town.
