I lived through the seventies and this kind of music was a blast back then. People of all walks of life were going to the clubs, dancing together, having a great time and enjoying a certain comradery with the music. Disco may get teased by some people today, but those people have to remember that the next generation that will come after them are going to be doing the same thing back at them about their music today. Nobody gets out of it, lol.....

We had a guy in our school that had memorized all of John Travolta's dances from the movie. He'd wear the same outfit and everything. It was a fun decade, and everyone was super supportive. It made school dances a blast. It's a fond memory every time I think of him entertaining us all so earnestly.

Now here we go! Barry wrote songs for Batbara Streisand and Celine Dion. Sadly, Barry is the only surviving member of the family. Twins Robin and Maurice passed. Younger brother Andy died in the 80's from overdose.

The Bee Gees were working on a new sound and a new album when they were approached to provide music for the movie Saturday Night Fever. They just took what they were working on and used it in the movie. Smart move! The soundtrack album with their four or five songs made them millions, revived their music career and introduced disco to mainstream audiences.

This song was written in 1976 as a R&B song and was on the album Children Of The World. It was also used in the movie Saturday Night Fever a year later and here it got labeled Disco but infact is R&B.

In the 70's I was a kid. And at that time when staying alive came out, which this song was written for I believe, I was a classic rocker all the way. Hated disco! Years later when I went back and seriously listened to some of it, it was actually good. I'm still not big into 70's disco, but I do have a much better appreciation for it. This song, in particular, was arranged and produced incredibly well. The horns, percussion, on point guitar licks, etc and of course the three masters of falsetto.
