Great reaction Amanda! The two singers in this song (the female Stevie Nicks and male Lindsey Buckingham) were a couple for many years. There was lots of drama in their relationship and they finally broke up for good. During this performance, you can feel the emotion between them...the proverbial 'if looks could kill'.

The chain is a metafor for the band. That the band would never break up even though their personal relationships did.
@dvsreed
@dvsreed 7 ай бұрын
Lindsey Buckingham is one of the great guitarist and he doesn't use a pick. The chain is basically the commitment holding the band together as they were in the process of imploding. The two couples in the band were breaking up...bassist John McVie and keyboard vocalist Christine McVie were getting a divorce. Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks were ending a long relationship. Even though the members were barely talking to each other they still managed to make the album Rumours.....one of the best albums of all time. This performance was about 20 years after all the drama. Watch Silver Springs from the same show and you can still see the fire between Stevie and Lindsey.

You have done multiple really amazing reactions to songs by citizen soldier, and their newest album just dropped and it is really really good. The album is called ICU and so is the song with by far the most emotion in it. I would love to see a reaction from you but I have to warn you that it will hit incredibly close to you. It really is a tough song to get through but I really think you will find great meaning in it. Giving this album and the song ICU in particular more attention and spread it, it will definitely help to break the mental health stigma further. Thank you so much for all you are doing to spread the word about mental health and I really think if you do this reaction it will spread even more so. It helped me for sure and I hope that if you can spread it it can help even more people as well.

The Rumors album is almost a chronical of the affairs and broken relationships that finally doomed the band. Prior guitarist John Weston had an affair with Jenny Boyd, Mick Fleetwood's wife and he was fired upon discovery. This brought in guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks who were a couple though having relationship issues themselves. After the two of them broke up and still fought even on stage Stevie started an affair with Mick. This affair finally ended Mick's marriage. Christine started an affair with the bands lighting director as she and John McVie the bassist and her husband were wearing out their marriage by being in each others back pocket practically 24 hours a day due to constant touring and studio time. All of these tensions are the major part of what finally spelled the end of the band.

This concert (1997) was two decades after the album came out (1977), so the band _didn't_ end. They last played a concert together in 2019, while Chrissie was still well enough. Chrissie's death from cancer, late last year, made it unlikely the band would now ever play again, according to Mick & Stevie - but who knows?

this is all about a band and their relationships breaking apart. although they were romantically entwined, the fact that they could perform their breakup up anthem live and coherently, speaks volumes of the respect they "lost" for each other.

The interesting thing about this song, as well as the album, was that when the original was recorded in 1977, none of them were in the studio at the same time. Lindsay would go in and play his part and record the vocals, Stevie would go in and do the same, same for Christine, John and Mick. The producer and engineers then went and cut and spliced the tapes together to create the finished song.

I'm not really familiar with Fleetwood Mac; they were a little bit before my time. I did see something interesting though where Stevie Nicks (the female vocalist) had some intriguing and frighteningly accurate things to say about Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Syndrome and her experiences with that, and how hellish it was. I've experienced this before on occasion; I take Benzos to function. Many people , ESPECIALLY in the medical community and oh god this is such a problem- they have this misconception that "addiction and physical dependance are the same thing" because, why? Cause they have a degree? IT'S STILL WRONG. It's just incorrect. They are NOT the same thing. I'm not an addict; I don't abuse my medication, and I would caution anyone and everyone that is prescribed ANYTHING, to research your medication before taking it. Talk to your pharmacist (that's your pharmacist's job after all), get your information. This could save your life.

Best song, but messed up groups EVER! They all too involved with each other too much...especially when marriages involved.

It wasn't what my parents were into, I fell into *N Sync obsession at 13, Linkin Park at 16 and never deviated much from that until the last few years!

Many reactors have a perspective that they are coming from, such as vocal coach. The majority of the songs I react to have mental health themes and the description is to give viewers the perspective I will be reacting from right away. The point of the channel is to shatter the mental health stigma through conversation and give people a place to share their experiences and feel support. I hope you are doing well.
