You summed it up perfectly! " The Cure never disappoints." "They just sounds so nostalgic". You are so right. There's just something about the Cure, they always seem to get the beat right! The Cure gets right into your head and touches you inside! The beauty of the very shy lead singer, Robert Smith and The Cure. Thank you. As always I adore your reactions, so natural , so wonderful, so you! have you checked out Pearl Jam yet? They could be next. See why they are a favorite around the world. People would love to see you react to Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder is 1.) Better Man 2.) Black 3.) "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town" ( Don't let that title scare you- it's a great song! ) 4.) Yellow Ledbetter 5.) Alive . / Do any of those! Pearl Jam was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame a few years ago. Eddie Vedder is shy, but he is amazing on stage. He has struggled in life and now he has foundations where he donates his money to just causes, including helping children with severe skin conditions and other worthy causes. Please check out Pearl Jam, if you haven't already! You are so cool, man.

@PsychoGallagher3 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct about The Cure and the genre they're in. I would just say that this specific song is a pop song. And it is a masterpiece at that. In fact, I would argue that there are many artists and bands out there who definitely belong to certain genres but every once in a while produce classic pop songs - not because of money or record labels but instead because the song itself kinda demands it. Those songs are often my favorite ones because there's no ego involved that demands a specific genre-like sound. It's the song itself that gives the direction in which it should be produced.
@paulsheedy46503 жыл бұрын
@@PsychoGallagherTotally agree. Infact I don't care what genre a song falls into or who it's by, if I enjoy it then that's all I care about. I'll listen to almost any from the 1930's to now. Blues, rock, pop, techno, disco......etc.👍

The Cure/ Robert Smith are the godfathers of goth. The godmother is Siouxsie from Siouxsie and the Banshees. They had several minor hits in the UK in the 80's. She has so much style and such a distinctive voice. I'd recommend to start with their song "Spellbound". It has everything.

The Cure played at my University in the early 80s and before the show Robert Smith was hanging out at the campus bar. That's pretty cool. They were known already but not huge. Their early stuff is great but a bit darker. You might say there are two Cures. The Cure that writes great pop songs like this, and the Cure that writes kinda dark songs like the whole album Pornography. It's one of their best albums but there's not a single song that even approaches pop. Three Imaginary Boys, their first album, was one of my favorite albums back in the day. Boys Don't Cry and Jump on Someone Else's Train are from that album and are two of my favorite songs of all time.
