Before Teddy Pendergrass, there was Marvin Junior. Also, one of the great falsettos in doo-wop and R&B Johnny Carter. A 'grind' classic.

The Mighty Mighty Dells Classic Doo Wop And Beyond One Of My All Time Favorite Groups Ever

Classic, classic Doo Wop music. It's this genre during the 50s and early 60s that set the foundation for the classic Soul music of the late 60s and 70s...which in turn led to the classic 80s R&B Soul sound. Salute to the Dels among many other great Doo Wop crooners of that era.

Played by my Grandmother and family during Saturday Cleaning! I knew more music from their youth and adult years than my own. Good Music 🎼 🎶🎵 is truly timeless as you are discovering JJ! Really enjoy your Reaction Selections!

This is what I call talent. Not today's barren pretenders who can't carry the bags of yesteryears endless bevy of talent like The Dells and so very many other groups and individuals who luckily for us were recorded for history.

Great doo-wop. Sung on street corners, Philly, Detroit, everywhere. Every group of kids had their high parts & deep low parts. Thanks, Leroy. 🤪 Oh ... and VESTS! Lovin it. 💜

I had forgotten this song, forgot The Dells did it, and forgotten how great this cut is. Thanks man. By the way, in my day there were no such things as "videos". They were made on film or for TV broadcast. These were either in front of a live audience or prepared for a live audience to watch. No one had a concept of the internet, and there was no idea of digitalization or shared recordings, or even personal recordings of live events.

Whats amazing about this song is the the Dells remade their own song and had a hit both times with it.....the original version was done in 1959 and is pure Doo Wop.....this version is 1969 and done in the gritty hardcore soul style that was popular back then.....great song and great reaction

Believe it or not, The Dells had a hit with their two greatest hits, "Oh What A Night" and "Stay In My Corner" twice - the first time with their original line-up (Marvin Junior, Verne Allison, Chuck Barksdale, Mickey McGill and Johnny Funches) in the '50's and again in the '60's after Johnny Funches was replaced by Johnnie Carter (originally of The Flamingos), though they also did updated versions of those songs in the '70's. Hi JJ, This was one of my fathers favorite songs, his eyes would light up whenever I played it for him. Personally, out of all the groups that I know of, there's only two "Baritone/Tenor" combos that I would put in the same leauge as these gentlemen, that's "David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks" along with "Maurice White & Phillip Baily". Peace!

J......... this is a genre called "Sexy Soul" kinda referring to mostly 1965-1974 r&b tracks.

The Mighty Mighty Dells. Greatness and pretty much the same members since 1953. I think Johnny carter replaced Johnny Funches in '56? I've seen many live from Stylistics, Blue Magic, Bluenotes, etc., but nobody was as perfect and smooth as the Dells. Not that it's a reflection on any of those other amazing groups.

most underrated music category? doo-wop. this was 1969 re-do of their 1956 classic. no one harmonized better than 50s bros who came up sangin' on the corner in the northeast u.s. transcendent.
