@Richard Rogers you brought up Vietnam and reel to reel, brought back memories of my Dad. First thing he bought was a reel to reel, when he came back to the states. I thought it was so fancy. It was 1969 too, he was stationed in Mississippi at that time. Thanks for bringing up a good memory. 💯👩🏼🦳

Doo Wop. You can play that music forever. The progression from Doo Wop to Soul music was such a cool transition. Check out the Persuasions - Doo wop sound, but all acapella. I saw them in Minneapolis back in the '80's. They had just come back to the US from a tour in Israel. Within one song they had the audience in the palm of their hand. What a get area to take a deep dive into the music.

The Dells was one group that didn't have one name above all the others like Diana Ross and the Supremes. When they "rededicated" this song, it came out during the reign of the mighty Temptations, and I remember thinking that the Dells were comparatively old men but when THIS album came out?? I RAN to the store! I played it for years until a CD came out, and I bought it! I love Stay In My Corner

The Dells were one of the most successful groups of the '50's who were able to transcend time and score big hits in both the '60's and '70's. They had two lead singers - Marvin Junior (their main lead) inspired Teddy Pendergrass (and was famous for holding a note for an extremely long time) and their tenor Johnny Carter inspired the recently departed Skip Mahoney of The Casuals ("Wherever You Go" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKOvdWyFhdqmpbM). Please listen to their live performance which aired March 15, 1972 on the pre-PBS TV show "Soul!": kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4Ooc3trmdZpodE as well as "Love Is Blue"/"I Can Sing A Rainbow": kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2bIomOcn8mYqas, "Let The Feeling Talk To You" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXWufoKNn5V4raM and their duet with The Dramatics on "Love Is Missing From Our Lives": kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYq8i4l9bpyJiq8.

very cool man ! i had no idea that had re-recorded that song. i know the original. cool that you are willing to delve into some Doo Wop music. I'm afraid that music does not get much attention and not many new fans seem to be popping up. it's a shame. great stuff. great vocal arrangements and certianly played a huge part in the history of R&B/Rock n Roll. Maybe you will check out some more ? two days ago the fantastic Willie Winfield (lead singer of the Harptones) passed at 89. maybe you could check out some of their stuff 'the masquarade is over', 'the shrine of saint cecilia', sunday kind of love etc......
