They were all siblings. "Five Stairsteps" meant they were so close in age that when they lined up by height it looked like they were standing on steps. Hope that makes sense.

Sam Cooke “ a change is gonna come,” Smokey Robinson “ Tracks of My Tears,” The Spinners “ I’ll Be Around.” Songs from an amazing era in music. If you don’t know them you should give them a listen even if it’s not a video you react to. Love seeing you guys hear songs for the first time, it’s awesome to see.

Why was I so moved by this song today? I can actually imagine that song being played, as loud as possible, during all these protests going on in our world today. It gave me chills and made me cry. @TwinsthenewTrend I found your channel a few days ago. I’ve watched a few of your vids so far and I love watching you play this music. I love that you’re open-minded to take the time to listen to this music. ❤️❤️

I could have written this, yes and amen to it all. We all need to see how important these boys’ lives are. With the notion of BLM, once you get personal, and see their enthusiasm for literally 100 years of music, and see their love for helping others, it just means more, and puts a face to the movement. Also, how open they are to embracing all types of music. Their open-mindedness is inspiring and we all have a lot to learn from their lead. I will also admit that I’ve binge-watched them since Thursday!

Esther you're on it. I saw Jolene and couldn't stop watchin that reaction for DAYS. Epic! yes, the purpose, open minded, teaching young folks about how powerful the ol' days were, and even into the 80's. For kids today to appreciate a voice like Whitney Houston, before all the health issues, really spotlights a natual talent that is a God given gift. Thank you.

Hope you guys see this - you hooked me with your reaction to Dolly Parton’s Jolene and now I just keep watching and listening. Love your open-minded approach, willingness to explore and share your discoveries, and the interactions between the siblings (including brother #3). As a Literature teacher, I love that you are drawn to the “stories” of songs and recognize great lyrics. I also appreciate that your conversations and language are clean and respectful. I wonder if, afterward, you ever research the various artists’ bios, history, stories and contributions to the music industry? Keep up the positive message and vibe & healing power of shared music - society needs you now more than ever!

The oldest Stairstep was born in 1948, the youngest in 1964. Ironically, they were the first two to die. There were six of them. Their mother called them that because, when they were all lined up, they looked like stairsteps. Their mother is still alive, btw. Their father just died in July 2020.

Aaaahhh a song from my youth!!! I love it. Since it’s 4th of July, give Ray Charles’s. America the Beautiful a listen. THD BEST RENDITION OF THE SONG!! And it’s not the easiest to sing or really a very pretty song.

I so agree. I'm not into patriotic songs but America the Beautiful was always my favorite. Then I heard Brother Ray do the absolute best version. You guys reacted to him singing Georgia on my Mind. This is just as good.

I heard this by the Edwin Hawkins Singers in the early 70s. I love it. For those who do not know, the Edwin Hawkins Singers were the first to cross the line from Black Gospel to Pop music. Their big hit "Oh Happy Day" skyrocketed them to fame. Then the Staple Singers also crossed from Black Gospel to Pop with their big hit "Respect Yourself" and I fell in love with them.

Great song, brings so much emotion! "O-o-h Child" was featured prominently in a notable scene of the 1991 film Boyz n the Hood, directed by Academy Award nominee John Singleton, when Doughboy and Chris are witnessed being arrested by Tre and Furious.

Wooo smooth groove! There is a LOT of good older music. You'd be surprised and are probably seeing that! Have you heard old Motown stuff? You better put on your seatbelt if you hear Sugar Pie HoneyBunch by the Four Tops. Through the roof awesome and a classic. Also Baby I Need Your Lovin' by the Four Tops is good. The Supremes are good too.

I'm so excited to see you guys react to "ooh Child"! This is one of my favorite songs of my life! The Five Stairsteps were great; they were beautiful siblings. That was the sister with the deep voice who started out the song. I cannot say how much I love this song and the group. And the way dressed was so freakin cool. When I was a teen I saw them perform in person and almost lost my mind. They were great.Thank you guys for reacting to this song.

This is my daddy's music, music I grew up on. Sunday mornings, dancing with him in the living room, waiting for breakfast. In the same era, you can't go wrong with anything by the Commodores, or Earth Wind and Fire. And the Four Tops and Temptations - they were already of by then, and still recording. Those groups will give you some roots. ANYTHING by them, anything at all, will be worth your time. Haven't gone through everything, yet, but you also need Otis Redding. Sadly murdered at 23, he was... Try a Little Tenderness, Otis Redding

In 2001, my 16 year old son listened to this song over and over when he was being treated for lymphoma. I don't know where he first heard it, but it was the perfect song for him to find. He made it through but had a recurrence at 19 and had a stem-cell procedure. He just celebrated his 35th birthday - with his wife and three sons!
