I loved watching your reaction!! This song was written for the Jackson’s they turned it down. The Osmond’s said they would do it and it went to the #1 song. This family has always stayed true to who they are. They have never done drugs or drink alcohol. I’m 61 and my mom and another mom took us to see them in concert. I was in the 6th grade. I have nothing but respect for them ♥️

A fruitful reaction 🍎! Yes, a white Michael Jackson lol. Donny Osmond (12 years old) is the lead singer on the song. One Bad Apple was released as the third single from The Osmonds' 1970 album: Osmonds. It was written by George Jackson. It was produced by Rick Hall. It reached #1 on the Hot 100, #1 on the Cash Box 100, #6 on the R&B chart and #37 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It was also used as the theme to The Osmond's 1972 cartoon show on ABC. Billboard ranked it as the #4 song of 1971. I believe this performance is from the German TV show: Beat-Club, 1972. There was only one other US #1 Pop hit with a fruit in the title, and it was also an apple titled: "Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White", by Perez Prado in 1955. In the song, The Osmonds are singing to a girl, trying to convince her that one bad experience shouldn't dictate her behavior, and that he deserves a chance because he's not like the guy who hurt her. It's a similar sentiment to "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5. Many think of "One Bad Apple" as a Donny Osmond song because he's the lead vocalist, but he didn't start recording as a solo artist until a year later. The song was released in 1970 on the first major-label album by his family group titled: The Osmonds, Donny Osmond was the youngest member at the time, just 12 years old. When Donny started recording as a solo artist a year later, he was still part of The Osmonds, but while he made teen Pop songs, the group veered into Rock 'n Roll, which was a tough sell after their hit single: "One Bad Apple". Their Rock songs didn't do well in America, but did in much of Europe; their 1972 track: "Crazy Horses", went to #2 on the Hot Singles chart in the UK. "One Bad Apple" was written by George Jackson, a staff songwriter at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The Osmonds were a young family group from Ogden, Utah, and made a name for themselves performing at Disneyland and on The Andy Williams Show. When they signed with MGM records in 1970, the label sent them to FAME in an effort to duplicate the success of The Jackson 5. Rodney Hall, who took over operations at FAME from his dad, told Songfacts how Rick Hall discovered The Osmonds: "My dad heard them in Vegas. Mike Curb flew him out there to see them and said, 'I'm not going to tell you who it is, because you won't go if I tell you who it is', because they'd done The Andy Williams Show, but they hadn't had a hit or a big record. So he flew out there and he dug 'em and decided to cut them like The Jackson 5. He told George Jackson to write them a Jackson 5 song and that was it. I've heard the rumor that Barry Gordy sent my dad a Western-Union that said: 'Stop stealing my f--king music'". Donny Osmond recalled to Uncut the "One Bad Apple" recording sessions with Rick Hall. "We always ordered McDonald's for lunch at Fame. Rick loved the fish fillet sandwich, but he hated the secret sauce they always put on it. While they were out getting the order, we recorded the track. It was a little long, so Rick cut out this section of the song and just threw the cake in the garbage. It turned out he cut the wrong section out of the song! We got it out, laid it out on the floor and spent forever wiping all this secret sauce off. But he spliced it back in, we did our vocals and finished everything up. I imagine that if we ever found the master, it would be completely destroyed. But that's what we used: 'One Bad Apple' with secret sauce. That must be the reason it went to #1". The song was covered 📻 by Aaron Carter in 1997. The group had its best-known configurations as a quartet billed as The Osmond Brothers and as a quintet as The Osmonds. The group has consisted of siblings who are all members of a family of musicians from Ogden, Utah, and have been in the public eye since the 1960s. The discography of The Osmond Brothers consists of twenty-eight albums and forty-three singles. The Osmonds have sold over 77 million records worldwide. The Osmond Brothers began as a barbershop quartet consisting of brothers Alan Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Merrill Osmond and Jay Osmond. They were later joined by younger siblings Donny Osmond and Jimmy Osmond, both of whom enjoyed success as solo artists. The family and ABC built and operated Osmond Studios, a first-class television studio in Orem, Utah, where the show was produced beginning in 1977 and ran until 1979. In 1978, both Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond starred in the film: Goin' Coconuts. A revival of the original Osmond Brothers group lineup in the 1980s achieved moderate success in Country music, and both Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond separately made comebacks in their respective fields in the late-1980s. In 2003, the Osmond Family was honored for their achievements in the entertainment industry with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The quartet continued to perform through their 50th anniversary in 2007, at which point Alan Osmond and later Wayne Osmond retired due to health issues; Jimmy Osmond was recruited after Alan Osmond's retirement, with the group performing as a trio until Jimmy Osmond suffered a stroke and retired in 2018. Alan Osmond's son David Osmond performed with the group in 2019. On October 14, 2019, the original Osmond Brothers quartet reunited for CBS' TV show: The Talk, for their sister Marie Osmond's 60th birthday, billed as the last appearance for the group. The brothers performed the song: "The Last Chapter", written as a farewell song and introduced in 2018. Merrill Osmond and Jay Osmond continued to perform and tour sometime with Marie Osmond billed as Marie And The Osmonds, as did Donny Osmond as a solo artist. Merrill Osmond announced his retirement in 2022. In 2024, Donny Osmond still performs live on stage. In October 2024, Jay Osmond will begin a residency in Branson, Missouri, with Nathan Osmond. Donny & Marie's Vegas Residency 🏠: From September 2008 to November 2019, Donny & Marie performed a 90-minute show at The Flamingo Hotel Las Vegas. The show began in September 2008 and was originally scheduled to run for six months. The response was so overwhelming that The Flamingo Hotel Las Vegas immediately asked for a two-year extension. The Donny & Marie Show ultimately ran for 11 years, ending its run in 2019. Donny & Marie has been awarded “The Best Show in Las Vegas” for 2012, 2013, and 2014, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The Flamingo Hotel Las Vegas showroom was renamed "The Donny And Marie Showroom" in 2013.
