For more “classic” song covers, gotta check out Bohemian Rhapsody and Imagine. For originals, check out Run to You, Thank You, and Sing. And one of their more recent covers, Kiss from a Rose, is basically everyone in the group saying “hold my beer, I’m gonna show out”. It’s amazing.

Simon and Garfunkel version was more sad and hopeless. Disturbed version was angry. Pentatonix version is more hopeful. It is amazing, the difference between each.
@connybeyer5392Ай бұрын
Hmmm, I think Disturbed was more frustrated and desperate than angry. (Even if there was a good amount of anger too.) I think that's why the Disturbed version is much more powerful. Because it is a kick right in the feels from the start.

One of my very favorite covers by Pentatonix!! They are phenomenal, but their own music is great, as well. Oh, and yeah, I know why you think there were 3 changes, but it was only one! Kirstin and Mitch (high tenor) are chameleons with their wardrobe and personal appearances.
@jenniferkamigaki-sander59815 ай бұрын

As others have mentioned, the only membership change has been Matt replacing Avi. I'm assuming that the other two changes you perceive are Kirstin and Mitch, because they're our two chameleons. Kirstin has a HUGE collection of wigs; you don't recognize her in this simply because she isn't wearing one. As for Mitch (second verse), let's see. He's gone through a phase where he had blue hair, one where he was shaving his head (you can still find internet rumors that he either has, or has beaten, cancer because of that one), one where he went blond, and one where every time I saw him I wanted to get a pair of clippers and cut his hair because of the way it was falling in his eyes. He also keeps changing his facial hair, and for many years his weight was continually changing due to an eating disorder - he had imposter syndrome as a result of the bullying over his high voice that he received in high school. Also, this arrangement of "Sound of Silence" has Mitch soloing in the lower part of his range, because they wanted the key to be low enough to enable Matt's incredible bass drop in his verse. If Mitch had been in his preferred range you would have recognized his voice immediately.

All members are the same except for they got a new bass in 2017. Kristen and Mitch (tenor) change hair, tats, fashion, every song! 😏👉👉NO!!! There is only ONE member change. Avi Kaplan left the group in late 2017 on good terms. Avi (Ah-vee) in the Hallelujah video was the bass (wore a beanie, full beard long hair.) He was the bass from the beginning of PENTATONIX in 2011 to end of 2017. The members are: 👉Scott Hoying (Tall blonde guy) sings baritone, covers bass when the bass has a singing part. Hits HIGH falsettos, EXTREMELY soulful 👉Kirstin Maldonado (Kirstie rhymes with thirsty) sings mezzo soprano, alto. Kirstie changes her look A LOT!! Don't get confused, it's ALWAYS Kirstie!! 👉Mitch Grassi (small guy with the HIGH voice sings counter tenor, tenor,alto. Mitch in the early videos looks different, then he lost weight. Mitch changes his look A LOT!!! When in doubt just know that it is still Mitch. 👉Kevin Olusula (Olu-shu-la) or K.O. is the beat boxer. Kevin also sings tenor and plays the cello. Usually he plays the cello while beatboxing "cello-boxing". 👉Matt Sallee is the only member change. Matt is now the bass for the group as of late 2017, he also sings baritone. 👉Avi Kaplan (Ah-vee) was the bass/basso profound, baritone, overtone. Member from 2011 to 2017. Avi is a solo artist now. He is AMAZING his main genre is Folk/Americana. All members of the group have side, solo projects and colabs. Scott and Mitch also did a side project known as SuperFruit. AMAZING originals and covers 🌟PENTATONIX is the gift that keeps on giving!!! EVERYTHING they do is FANTASTIC! PENTATONIX is the GREATEST Acapella group setting the bar SKY HIGH!! They are the ONLY Acapella group to EVER by nominated for Grammys and they have 5 nominations and 3 WINS!! PENTATONIX is the ONLY Acapella group in HISTORY to get a STAR on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame!! They have achieved SO MUCH and the members are still quite young! PENTATONIX fans are known as Pentaholics.

In the nearly 60 years since Simon and Garfunkel debuted "Sound of Silence," it has been covered by numerous bands and singers, including, as you know, both Disturbed and Pentatonix. Disturbed released their cover first; in many ways Pentatonix's version is a response to Disturbed. The best version comparison I've heard goes like this: Simon and Garfunkel warned us. Disturbed is angry that we didn't heed the warning. And Pentatonix says that it isn't too late - we can still save the planet if we're willing to make the effort. Is Pentatonix right? I don't know. But I'm CERTAIN that if we just give up we lose, so I'm with Pentatonix on this one. If they're wrong and it's already too late, at least we'll go down fighting for our planet, and that beats the heck out of the only other option I see, writing an angry suicide note.

And once again, the PTX chameleons strike! As others, have said, only Matt (white jacket) is different in this lineup from the group in Hallelujah. Kirstin was blonde in Hallelujah, as opposed to coal-black hair and darker makeup in this one, and Mitch (2nd solo) had basically a burr (growing out from being shaved) with a big round hat in Hallelujah, as opposed to the natural color mullet he has in this one. Scott (tall blonde) and Kevin (beatboxer) tend to not change all that much between videos (as do Matt or Avi), but Kirstin and Mitch - well, everything is pretty much subject to change without notice! But the answer to the question, "Is that Mitch? Is that Kirstin?" is always YES!

Welcome to PTX. Everything they do is an upgrade to the original. I subscribed to see you go down this rabbit hole. I would also recommend you pause and comment during the song to avoid copyright claims. There has only been one person changed in the original group. That was Avi, He left for personal reasons regarding touring and spending time with his family. He has ventured out on his own. Matt , the black gentleman standing on the far right replaced Avi at base in I think 2017. The rest are all the same people. Mitch and Kirsten change their looks regularly so they look different but are the same people. Scott, Kirsten, and Mitch have been friends since an early age. They are known as the Trio. Kevin and Avi were added to complete the group for a singing competition called the sing off. Which they won.

I've already made my recommendations; I won't repeat them here, except for one: Watch the official video of "Run To You." But NOT BEFORE YOU GET THOSE HEADPHONES!!! In my opinion, "Run To You" has the most beautiful harmonies Pentatonix has ever produced, which is saying a LOT. It has no lead singer, and no soloists; there isn't even any percussion. It's just glorious five part harmony throughout. And it has to be the official video because of something Ed Boyer, who edits PTX's audio, did. In the official video, every time the camera is focused on just one person rather than the entire band, that person's voice is just slightly more distinct than all the other voices. It isn't enough to destroy the balance - you can't even hear it if you aren't actively watching the video - but it's real, and it makes it possible to distinguish exactly who is singing what. It greatly enhances the experience, AS DO HEADPHONES.

OK. Like most of their set-piece videos, this was studio (or even remotely) recorded and assembled by a highly skilled editor who’s been with them all along. There are effects: all that reverb for instance. That said, they also crush live performances like PopSpring 2016 and Hollywood Bowl 2022. Headphones are really, really useful with the studio pieces and only a little less for the live recordings that take the audio from the venues’ sound board with the band’s sound engineer in control of mic balance.

I have a private playlist of about 500 of my favorite PTX reactions that I watch often on shuffle. I've added each of your PTX reactions so far, which is rare. I look forward to more.

Fun Fact for you: Kevin (the beat boxer) graduated Pre-med from Yale. Was going to be a surgeon. Pentatonix found him on KZbin. You should hear him play the cello as well. Only 1 left the group. Avi. He left for a solo career in 2017. That's when Matt Salle joined the group. The others just change their appearances. Same people. Since you're expanding your horizons, check out Kevin Olusola for his own KZbin videos playing the cello.
