This band has a secret weapon, called being sisters. They grew up together, with a deep love for classic rock. As they discovered playing instruments, their parents fully invested in their passions and built a rehearsal studio in the basement complete with a full wall mirror. This setup gives them the advantages other bands don't enjoy... being able to rehearse and write at any time they wished. No planning to meet off site, sharing a space with someone else. Practicing and perfecting their craft at any and every moment. Then they recorded and shared much of their lives with us, their fans. A generational talent, with no limits to how high they can go Dany, Pau and Ale are truly inspiring

Yes. In that regard, they remind me of other sibling bands that grew up together with music: Ann & Nancy Wilson [Heart]; Brian, Carl & Dennis Wilson [The Beach Boys]; Sydney, Noah, Graham & Jamie Sierota [Echosmith]. It is both nature and nurture at work, producing a tight sound.

The Warning is a Mexican rock band consisting of three sisters: Daniela (Dany, 24), Paulina (Pau, pronounced "Pow," 22), and Alejandra (Ale, pronounced "Ah-leh," 20). At the time of this 10th anniversary concert at the Pepsi Center they were 23, 21, and 18. Both of these songs are from "Queen of the Murder Scene," a concept album about a young woman’s descent into obsession, murder, and madness, released in 2018 when Dany was 18, Pau was 16, and Ale was 13. "Dust to Dust," the opening track and part of the prologue, introduces themes of life, death, and deception, with the protagonist warning of how quickly things can spiral. "Dull Knives (Cut Better)," the 9th track and part of Chapter 3, depicts her growing despair and self-harm as her evil side takes control, leaving her emotionally shattered and consumed by darkness.

Hi Tim, I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen this and I still get goose bumps every time, especially with new reactors hearing them for the first time. At the Lunario CDMX in 2018 the drummer was only 16. And you can hear her gain more confidence vocally with each live performance. The bass player can but rarely sings lead, but when she does she can stop an entire arena from singing along with them, just so they can hear her and swoon. The eldest sister is the main lead singer. Her vocal limit is unknown as she keeps raising the bar and surprising the fans. Both the drummer and the lead guitarist have been invited by the older and veteran bands they have opened for to SING lead for some of these band’s songs. The Warning sings in English, Spanish and a bit of French.

I have to admit I was dreading a review like this. When you said you ran a check for pitch correction, my heart dropped. I know they sound that good and I've heard fan cams where they are clearly hitting the notes, but I always worried that a producer or an engineer wouldn't be able to resist tweaking a recording to make them sound "better". I was so relieved when you said they passed the test. Having said that, I've been a huge fan of The Warning since 2018 and loved your review. I learned new things and really appreciated how you instantly recognized all the hard work the ladies have put in to their craft. They probably have the largest video history of any band in history. You can literally see them progress from pre-teen until now. Their video history is amazing and you can watch them gain confidence and improve skills from month to month for the last 10 years. In spite of all the constant recording, they have remained true to their vision and are truly extraordinary human beings. I hope you take the plunge down their rabbit hole because you have no idea of the amazing songs and concerts that await you.

Not gonna lie I felt exactly the same way, I know what their (DPA's) values are and what they stand for but I also know with the way they're growing it may be a bit harder to have control on everything and someone may feel the need to overly tweak things in post production, nonetheless I had wanted Tim to have a look at them for a very long time and I'm so glad he is getting to it now.
@CarlD70Ай бұрын
What a great reaction Tim. You now can understand why their fans are an Army, largest in the world! The Warning Army will love this reaction I am sure. Just know that one time they were asked to "Lip Sync" a song, and said they will never ever do that to their fans. Live is exactly what you get with these young women!! No Tom Foolery. As a long time Rocker, many many decades now, I have seen 100's of bands and 100's of live shows, The Warning Ladies are simply the best I have heard in many decades, my favorite band now. They say Rock and Roll isn't dead, it just moved to Mexico!! Happy New Year. BTW, Dust to Dust is the prologue song to their Album Queen of the Murder Scene, a concept Album they wrote as teenagers which tells the story of a disturbed young woman's inner journey from desire to obsession to murder and madness. The songs are told from the point of view of either the young lady's inner psychopath or her good side, which has a conscience - until it does not. The second song "Dull Knives" (cut better) is from Chapter 3 of the Concept Album (there are 4 chapters). The Album needs to be listened to in the order the songs were written (it is a story). They performed the entire album at Lunario CDMX in 2018 (7 years ago and still teens). It is a must watch, one of the best Concept Albums ever written.

No Autotune or lip synching. They do use backing tracks on some songs for sound effects and background vocals that they recorded in the studio, but they don’t lip synch or perform to playback. When they were much younger a TV station had them lip synch to a playback, and they disliked it so much they said they would never do it again (they perform acoustically if a studio can’t handle a full electric performance). Enjoyed your reaction and hope to see more of The Warning! Suggest Hell You Call a Dream or Choke from this same concert. 😎👍

At 9:55 there IS a guitar track at the climax to DK(CB), but they use tracks very sparingly. There's a clean guitar playing a couple of arpeggios in the second verse of Choke, obviously the piano at the end of Survive, but they certainly don't layer on all the guitars that are on the studio versions! Dany gets her BIG live sound by using Harmonizer and/or Delay effects to send a dry signal to one channel and a wet signal to the other.

So glad to see you enthusiastically jump into The Warning - the best rabbit hole you'll ever dive into. They've been doing this for over a decade now and have been touring the world extensively for the past few years, not only supporting big name bands, but also headlining. I've seen them live twice now in Toronto and they just simply rock the house DOWN. They started doing covers as children and then transitioned into writing their own songs (which I think are better written than a lot of what they've covered). This past December (2024) the youngest sister, Ale on bass, turned 20, so they are now officially no longer a teenage band. One key factor for me is that there is such a range of styles in their songwriting. Contrast 'Hell You Call a Dream' with 'Black Holes' - both from the same concert you just watched. They carefully craft each song with an eye to what kind of treatment the song calls for. Exquisite. I'm in my mid 70's now and I've been badly missing real rock. Thank God it's finally back.

Dani, guitarist, oldest (Alto), is lead singer with a gorgeous voice/ remarkable range (C♯3-G6). Ale, Bassist, youngest (just turned 20, composed D2D at 11) has an excellent voice (Contralto) can sing lead, very shy, sings lead whenever Dani has vocal issues. Pau, Drummer of The Year 2023, (Mezzo) sings lead vocals on several songs, including D2D, while playing drums; Very Rare. Ale, world-class Jazz Bassist playing Rock, plays Bass-line, Melody-line, throws in Bass-solos, and switches back to the Bass-line, as if it's nothing. You can readily hear Ale's skill and Jazz influences, and Dani's killer vocals, in The Warning's cover of "You Oughta Know."

I hear that their manager Rudy estimated the crowd at about 50,000 when they started, but by the end 25,000 more had drifted back in from the festival campground. The word probably got around that they were awesome!

They are the real deal. IMHO one of the hottest rock bands going right now. Enjoy the ride. They are amazing. Most of the songs include some tracks that they create. The drummer Pau, uses ableton software to control the clicks and stems. She covers that in an episode of Gear Masters where she talks about her drum kit.

My man! You got it! I hate when reactors watch/lusten to these ladies for the first time and are so casual about what they're wutnesding. You, sir, nailed it! Yiur reaction, goosebumps, and all matched my own perfectly. I hope you will go down the Warning rabbit hole. It's a journey you're gonna really enjoy. I think the next song you should do is Hell You Call a Dream from the same Pepsi Center show. Yes, they use a click/backing track, but not for their vocaks. Just for sound effects like an evil laugh or... Great reaction, my friend. I look forward to more of these ladies from you. "You have been Warned!"

Most of their evil laughs are performed live! lol

@iNsTaNtpUdDiNhEaD Still a good example of the kind of stuff on their backingvtracks. The laughs and the scream on P.S.Y.C.H.O.T.I.C. are on the track, not live.
@mjc1389Ай бұрын
TW does use backing vocals from backing tracks on some songs. HYCAD and 23 are prime examples. The backing vocals in the beginning are definitely a track but they switch to live near the end of the song. 23 has an echo track. Their Enter Sandman has Alessia Cara’s vocals on a track. They don’t use them predominantly but sparingly but they do use them.

Boy you are in for a treat. This is not your ordinary Rock Band. These girls are a Rock Machine. Consider this. These two songs are from their second album which was written in 2018. When they were just 18,16, and 15. This Concert was in Celebration of their 10th anniversary. !! But I must say that I’m not surprised at your reaction. It’s a mystery to me just how these girls are not a household name by now. I’ve never seen a single unbiased reactor not have a shocked opinion when first being introduced to The Warning. Their live performances are phenomenal. Their talent, stage presence, is as good as any band I’ve ever seen in my 75 years. They are the forbidden fruit of Music. One bite out of this Apple and you are hooked. “You’ve been Warned” Down The Warning Hole You Will Go. Nobody has a better documented career on KZbin. There are literaly hundreds videos documenting their progression into the Best Band Ever.

Great first reaction with substantive comments and analysis of a wonderful performance by The Warning. These sisters have done the work, and it shows. Their talent is absolutely amazing and inspired but you hit it right on the money when you commented on how well rehearsed, they are, and it shows. I know your main focus is the vocals and there is much in every performance to enjoy because they truly are that good. These young women are performers, and they sell every song and every performance. This is why seeing them live is the ultimate experience. Please do more The Warning and explore their journey. There is a large wealth of material to explore, and I am here for it. New sub!

Dany is a power rock singer. She shines on tracks like Choke, Martirio and Hell You Call a Dream. Pau, the drummer brings emotion out like nobody. 23 is a great track where she sings and drums. Her vocals are highlighted on Creep (just her on the family piano) and Black Holes/Breathe. If you react to Black Holes and Breathe you should do them together, it is short and her at the piano with strings. Ale, the bassist, has a beautiful voice but prefers only to do backing vocals. They are amazing musicians, singers and composers.
@davep5788Ай бұрын
Ale does rarely sing full songs when Dany is tired or sick. Unfortunately they have only been seen on fan cams (as far as I know) so the sound is not the best. Still worth watching though, and I think the best are from the Toronto concert in 2023.

Tim, it's official! You have been Warned. :) Meet the hardest-working band in the world, the Villarreal sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. No lip sync'ing, no auto-tune. They have been a band since ages 9, 11, and 13. The sisters first performed together at a school event when they were 7, 10, and 12! They have come a long way and have a deep catalogue. These songs are from their 2018 release _Queen of the Murder Scene,_ a rock novel, a concept album released by three teenagers!! Great reaction! I look forward to much more. Subscribed!

You just found the best current rock band, a gold mine of 3 vocal prodigies and the band with the most fascinating history. In this concert they were 23, 21, and 18 celebrating 10 year as a band. The two songs are from their 2nd album, released when they were 18, 16 and 13. They are not just brilliant musicians, singers and performers - they are incredible songwriters. TW cannot write a bad song. On the contrary many of their songs are highly addictive. I found addictive songs in their first EP that captured their first trials at songwriting (released in 2015 at ages 15, 13 and 10).

The Warning do use a few tracks. But the real secret to their wall of sound is Dany's guitar setup.She runs through a Kemper pedal board that splits the sound into 2 channels. One with a delay and different effects when needed. Then this is played in stereo. It gives the effect of 2 guitars.They also balance the levels of all 3 instruments . So one does not over shadow the others. Ass in the layered vocal harmonies and you end up with a very full sound from just three people.
@VicRonson515029 күн бұрын
A comment from a fellow musician, whatever your instrument. Yeah with the Kemper Dany doesn't have to tap dance so much anymore. Their whole crew are top notch and I'm sure there are bands out there wanting to steal their sound tech, whoever it is man it doesn't matter where they perform, the girls are just so tight and seasoned they make any sound engineers job easier
@petergillespie222228 күн бұрын
My understanding is that some of Dany's guitar effects are programmed in at the right time with the Ableton.

Lalo does the in house sound and has help from Beto Ramos ( Pau's drum teacher ) on the concert recordings like this. I believe I heard that Beto also helps the drum tech to setup and maximize Paulinas drum mikes.

The main lead singer is the lead guitar player. The drummer Pau (Pow) sings lead on maybe 20% of their songs of which they have over 60 original songs. The bass player will sing lead if her sisters are having issues with their voices. Ale is somewhat of an introvert so doesn't like to sing lead unless she has to. The drummer is the song idea person. She started most of their songs and brings what she has to her sisters to finish. They write and sing mostly in English, their second language. They do have four songs written in Spanish. Their second album is a concept album dreamed up by Pau the drummer. It's a musical novel about obsession and murder. These two songs you reacted to are from that album called "Queen of the Murder Scene."

In Feb. of 2020, The Warning opened for Stryper at their hometown in Monterrey, Mexico. Stryper fans were blown away when they saw that the band had - an 18 year old drummer singing passionately while drumming furiously in the 1st song - followed by a 15 year old bassist singing the 2nd song - 3rd song was sung by the 20 year old guitarist Incredible, isn't it?

Oh yeah. When we at TWA say that the are the real deal is because, well, they are REAL. Much more hard rock than metal. Extensive catalog. Fantastic live performances. Huge committed fanbase. You can react to whatever you want because everything is excellent, but for vocal purposes maybe I'll follow this one with Hell You Call A Dream (some sustained high notes, even if Dany - the singer - has a master in low ranges) or Choke. It doesn't matter, the journey will be amazing ;).
