He is such a complexe artist with such a complex and big story behind that I don’t know what song to suggest you.His albums in order are:Trilogy,Kissland,Beauty Behind The Madness,Starboy,My Dear Melancholy,After Hours and Dawn FM.His character changes so much in every album,I suggest you should listen from the beggining to the end in order to understand/)

This makes me so happy! His aesthetic was the character he portrayed for that whole album. There’s a whole storyline through the album and the videos. I wish I could begin to explain it all, but I don’t know how to condense it for a comment lol Thank you so much for this 🖤

The Weeknd’s videos are great, they add a whole other dimension to his art. He has a certain darkness that isn’t at first evident with casual listening.

Definitely watch the Blinding Lights video if you haven't already. That and Heartless are parts if the visual story he's created for this character. Also all the Vevo performances especially IN YOUR EYES ft Kenny G. Faith is one of my favorites off of the album. Loved seeing your reaction

Definitely missing context, amongst which is that the song immediately following this one is blinding lights. Thats important. The entire album is about excess, and not in a good way. He’s describing his struggle with that life he tried to leave behind, but is still calling at him. The OD line I have given my own interpretation, based on other songs. Its essentially his desire to have a lover at his side through thick and thin. He’s referenced this before. Interestingly, in Dawn FM he notes how “she” no longer wants to die beside him if he ODs. So, maybe it represents what he believes was falling in love with a woman that was equally lost in addiction, and her moving on while he continues to struggle and desire love.

You should honestly just start at the first track off the album Alone Again. There’s a live video for that one too. Shot in the same place as this one was. The third live he did in this setting was In Your Eyes ft. Kenny G. It’s also 🔥 (I know you have the longest list lol but I just thought I’d throw it out there 🖤

So the bruising on his face is in realtion to the album "after hours" and his character on said album. Although it would be best to listen to the album all the way through, I highly recommend the songs save your tears, until i bleed out, escape from LA, heartless, and scared to live

It’s 3 months later but you have to watch the movie side of his whole album. I hope you see this and watch the video. It tells the whole story of what drugs and liquor and how he feels almost all his albums his his life story. Most R&B singers make up a persona yet he didn’t which is why his R&B is so dark.
