Thomas is it rather, was, Thomas Roth. He was one of Till's closest friends who died in 2019. The idea that they're both just waiting to be reunited in the future is beautiful but also adds a certain level of pathos to the video. Eels play quite a significant role in Till's life, it seems. He mentions one as a sickness in Mutter, an eel features in the Knebel video, he has a full back and both arms quarter tattooed with eels and they feature at the start of this video. Hauntingly beautiful song and video.

With this video, Till has once again managed to reinterpret the lyrics of the song. The text is reminiscent of a man who mourns his deceased wife and is now waiting for his own redemption. But with the video and the text you can tell a completely different story. The question here is, “What after death?” and what is the purpose of God and the purpose of yourself? When the dead man got up and saw God, he turned around and jumped into the sun. And God complained: “Without you I am not.” My interpretation is: It is about exiting the life cycle, not in the Buddhist background (Nirvana), but in the Hindu sense. for example, burning corpses on the holy river Ganges in order to be able to leave the eternal cycle of life.
