It's not matter of positivity, it's pure self-determination. This music video is blatantly hypocrite, generalising one's will to modify themselves as something monstrous. I like the way they follow the theme of "Zeit" (time). The masks and costumes refer to certain celebrities like Harald Glöckler, for example, he even shared that on Instagram. 😅 Rammstein always mirrors society, which is often understood as a provocation, because not all of us like to stand in front of the mirror. I love that about them.

"Who wants to be beautyful needs to suffer" is a common expression in Germany. Usually used as a sarcastic comment in a conversation between a person considered as being vain complaining how long it takes or how stressfull it is to be beautyful and someone that is annoyed by these comments. For example: -I always need hours in the bathroom to get my make up right! Answer: Who wants to be beautyful needs to suffer Same for hours in the gym and so on.

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.

The presenter, for instance, none other than late Siegfried Fischbacher from Siegfried and Roy. Roy Horn himself was on drums I believe. The bass player, fashion designer nutcase Harald Glööckler. The one with the beautiful long dark hair… must be TV personality Jorge Gonzales. The guy with the hair spray… TV host Thomas Gottschalk for sure. Several others. When Till says "Wer schön sein will, der muss auch leiden" (If you want to be beautiful you have to suffer) he actually uses a quite common German phrase. That's what I heard my entire adolescence from my mom. The thing is that since none of them looks beautiful I do think that they criticize the whole industry because and of course people that overdo it. Because it turns them in dysfunctional Frankenstein's monsters obviously. And won't make them truly content either. Also when he says "Inject Botox all the way into the brain" it's a very obvious criticism.

Another Joern Heitman-Rammstein collaboration. What can I say? Are they baiting people? Well, if you consider provoking a reaction as baiting then all art is baiting and this is what this is, art. Outrageous? Yes. Cruel? No. Their appearances are those of a number of celebrities who have gone under the knife with varying results. There's a wonderful contrast between the band here and their audience who have all aged gracefully, their only nod to youth being their clothing. There's so much about this video that makes me smile but not in a mocking manner. There are little gestures, Richard wailing at his reflection in the mirror (he is known for a degree of vanity), Ollie's look of "where are they off to? Oh well...", Schneider's dance, the ongoing "spat" between Till and Flake and Paul is just his usual hilarious self. Funny but with a bite to it as well.

How I see video, it is clear they are especially mocking the obsession with beauty and plastic surgery. Maybe also plastic surgery in general, but it seems less obvious. How the video tell the story is that leads often to even worse results (look at Tills face) and it is clear to me that they want to state that you can't fight against your age. Furthermore the characters are based on real people , I guess Oliver Riedel mocks Harald Glööckler and Paul mocks Siegried from Siegfried and Roy. The video reminds me how Bill Burr told his view on this topic in a show.

Another thing that came to my the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense? This is art at its finest..a true Masterpiece!!
