As a TobyMac fan myself, Toby lost his oldest son, Truett at 21 years old, 2019. Truett was a musician just like his father, Toby even had a few songs featuring Truett. I definitely recommend more of TobyMac, he's a great artist even if you aren't into Christian music.

Toby was a founding member of DC Talk from 87 till they went "on hiatus" in 2000. Since then he's had an outstanding solo career. OG in christian rock/hip hop. Six #1s on billboard christian songs charts. 7 Grammys. But that doesn't protect from the heartache of loosing his son to fentanyl 😫😭 Truett, credited as TRU on multiple albums, was just getting ready to start out on his own solo career 💔💔

The song was such a comfort to my parents when my brother died seven years ago. He also spent many years being a prodigal son… and was finally getting his life back together before he died. we have spent years as a family healing from that awful grief and are now grieving the death of my sister this year. Is the most awful thing to witness your parents grieving the loss of their children to see their children, the loss of their parents, and for siblings to lose their entire past in the future with a death of their siblings

I love TobyMac and have since DC Talk...this was devastating and I still cry every time I watch this video. I'm sure his words help others in this situation. It also reminds me when Stephen Curtis Chapman lost his daughter....

This whole situation just gutted me when it happened. Hard to believe he was the little guy Tru Dog playing around in the background of some of his Dad’s early tracks. Trying to break into music himself. Fentanyl is deadly and infiltrates families indiscriminately

I feel his pain. We lost our 14 year old to suicide in 2019. The pain is still so real and the grief never goes away. But Jesus....He walks with me through this journey until I hold my Christopher in my arms again. I know he walked through the veil into the arms of Jesus and was healed and whole and his pain was gone. We started a non profit for youth suicide prevention in awareness in Christopher's memory to help kids so their parents won't have to experience what we've gone through. Christopher's Hope raises funds to get Hope Squads in our local schools. Hope Squad is a national peer to peer suicide prevention program and it works.
