I have loved TobyMac for years since DC Talk and Jesus Freak, and this is such a beautiful song for Tru. Having heard this child sing in his previous songs, it hits very hard to fathom the loss they went through. To hear this song and Toby's faith on display, it's heartbreaking and humbling. "The father saw his son and ran to him" - that kills me.

I worked at the music label TobyMac is on. He’s amazing and he is who he says he is. He’s the sweetest, most friendly artist I have ever met. He’s the real deal. Truett McKeehan was an up and coming artist in his own right and was extremely talented. Just a shame he ended where he did. My heart hurts for Toby, Amanda and the rest of the family. Listen to Toby’s song, Faithfully.

You should hear some of the stuff that Stephen Curtis Chapman (another Christian artist) wrote after losing his youngest daughter. She saw her big brother coming and ran towards his car just as he was coming around the building and didn't see her. That tragedy could have destroyed their family but it didn't. Such powerful lyrics and testimony.

Cinderella is the song. I believe he wrote it for his eldest daughter who was about to get married. However, I believe his youngest died in a tragic accident shortly after it’s release which just changed the poignancy of the song.

Yeah this was a very tragic thing. Steven Curtis Chapman and Toby are on the same label and Steven was able to help him some having dealt with it himself.

this was my first time hearing this song. this confronts my very realistic worst fear. my husband and i have a medically fragile son who is now 20yrs old. every single day there is the worry, "waiting for the next shoe to drop." sadly, in the NICU, when he was less than 2 pounds and less than 6wks old, we experienced our son's death and recovery 7 times in one day. knowing what the death of your child looks and feels like never leaves your mind. we are so very grateful that our son is alive, each and every day. children are miracles; beautiful, innocent, sin-free miracles. i believe babies and young children are perfect in our god's eyes and return to him. i also believe that sick children that are spared death, are here on earth to teach and test the rest of us. they are also perfect.

First with DC Talk, and then with his solo career, Toby Mac at one time was arguably the biggest name in Christian pop with a hip hop influence, particularly his early work. There are so many good songs with depth and meaning. I hope you check out several, both on the channel and on your own time.

Listened to TobyMac several years ago, favorite song Get Back Up - so encouraging and energizing. Would be a good follow-up. This song brings his voice back to me to remind me of the love in his message. The sorrow never leaves, but this does remind us that we are blessed even if only for a short time and our faith will sustain us until we are reunited.

On Sept 26, 2018, my only granddaughter died unexpectedly from complications with her pregnancy, leaving behind a 3 year old daughter & a 5 week old son. Cait was 22, so this song resonated, especially the lyrics, "God has you in Heaven, But I have you in my heart." I know she loved Jesus & that I will see her again. It still hurts, esp with the anniversary approaching, but this song reminds me of the HOPE found in Jesus Christ.

I love Toby's music, going way back to the late 80s with DC Talk and through his solo work. Truett (his nickname was TruDog) would work with his dad on his albums, even as a little kid, and was making his own music. It absolutely broke my heart for his whole family to hear of Tru's passing. As a mother of three (23, 21, and 17 years old), it's unfathomable to think of losing one of them.

When I heard that Toby's son had passed I wondered how parents cope losing a child and couldn't imagine living through that and hoping I would never have to. Kids are supposed to outlive their parents, right? But only two years later my daughter took her own life at 33 years old. I don't have to wonder any longer how parents cope.....I am now coping. It wil always be with me until we are together again in heaven. She was in alot of mental pain and in her words "broken". The pain is always there. You learn to live with the grief. Grief is your life now. Grief is your friend now. You go on and start to laught again but it is always there. I also thanked God for loaning my daughter to me for 33 years because God tells us to thank Him for ALL THINGS. God bless all parents in the past and future who have and will go through the pain and anguish of their child not being on this earth any longer to hug, talk to, laugh with or be with. My Nikki is not gone......she's been relocated and I know she is the happiest she's ever been and I will see her later. That's how I am coping.

Listening again because throughout my 18 years in this world I have experienced much loss as well as other difficult things...but one thing I know. God is faithful, He is here with me in all my suffering, here with us in every trial. I would not have made it this far if it wasn't for my Father in heaven. I am a survivor not a victim and one day I will stand before Yeshua/Jesus and I will finally be home in the Fathers arms. If you are going through hardships, know that everyone goes through hell in their own way, its the ones who raise their hands that God reaches down to save.

I absolutely love TobyMac. I'm glad you got to check him out. His group DC talk that was forum during college in Northern Virginia was instrumental in bringing hip hop to Christian music. Sometime in the mid-90s I believe. You can check all of those songs out there most of them are awesome some of them are a little cringe as Toby would say. But you should also check out the song that came out after this video 21, it is called, "Help Is On the Way". And it stars his other son. It is an amazing video. There's also one that has always gotten to me and I ask that you definitely react to it. It's called "Love Broke Thru". It has an absolutely amazing video. Another one I would suggest is "We All Bleed the Same" by TobyMac featuring The late Mandisa (she recently passed away this year and oh boy do I miss her and her beautiful voice. She was one of my absolute favorites. She was on American idol. She had a really good career and she worked with Toby Mac a lot) and Kirk Franklin. Amazing video again. Love your channel. It gets me through my days and helps me smile and sometimes cry. You and your wife played a request of mine years or maybe it was just about a year ago or so. You played Toby Keith American soldier and even read my post out loud about how that was my deployment song to my husband who is now retired thankfully. Your channel has been a lot to me. I have young onset Parkinson's disease. I've had it for about 13 years since I was 42. Just know that you are one of my favorite reactors because you always take me on an emotional journey with your reactions and they're so genuine. I adore your wife as well. I think you both for the smiles that you bring me to get me through the hard days. Love and may God bless you and keep you and shine his face upon you! Much love, Katrina❤🙏❤️🙏🥹😊

I am impressed with Toby's faith standing strong through such a loss, and being able to write it down, then sing it. My middle sister died when she was 23 then, 7 years later, her husband died, leaving their son an orphan. I've had a lot of other early-age losses among my cousins. I can't understand the pain my parents, and my aunts & uncles, went through - to lose a child so young. How is one's faith not shaken to its core? My parents became much more demonstrative of their love for my remaining sister and I, which is how I believe they turned their sorrow into something positive. While I am, generally, an optimist, it is hard to be haunted by so many losses with no good reason for them.

My youngest son passed at the age of 30 ( 1990-2020). There are no words to describe the horrendous pain in my heart. I would have given my life for my baby boy. Sebs, you need to check out Toby with the band DC Talk. They were the top contemporary Christian band of the mid 90s. They have many great songs. Toby had a solo career and Gone is one my favorites. They came on the scene with the song Jesus Freak but Between You and Me, I Wish We’d All Been Ready are good. Glad to know you’re a brother in Christ. Just recently started watching reaction videos and came across yours. I like your sincerity and openness to experience unfamiliar genres. I’m 71 and grew up in what I believe is the golden age of music from the Eagles, Stones, Yes, Zeppelin, Queen, Floyd, Allman Brothers, Skynard and dozens of bands and got saved hearing Christian music in the late 70s. Not knowing who all you’ve reacted to I’ll drop suggestions to consider. Having just watched your reaction to Time you need to listen to the whole Dark Side of the Moon album from start to finish as it is a continuum. For instance you mentioned that Time seemed to end abruptly but on the album it flows into Great Gig in the Sky which features a female solo by Clare Torry. Great story behind that.

This song stings.. because Truett (aka TruDog) grew up before the eyes on fans- he felt part of the music because he appeared on so many albums. So sad that a one time lapse .. an overdose.. can be the end of a beautiful life. It can happen to anyone and anyone’s child- even Christian rap artists. No one is immune. As for Toby himself and his music/history, I’ve been a dcTalk fan since 1990, followed Toby Mac’s early solo career (also the other members of DCT, Kevin Max and Michael Tait). Toby is by far the most successful of the 3, but there is something so magical when the 3 reunite- their harmonies and spirits come together like nothing else, IMO. Their Jesus Freak album, 1995 was so successful, it was re-released in 1996 by Virgin records and had a Top 20 hit “Between You and Me” and an Alt Rock hit with “Jesus Freak” blending rock and rap (ahead of their time.
