Rick Stevens R.I.P. my brother..Oaklands finest... Rick life is a movie in itself.. practically spent half his life in San Quentin State Prison.. on a murder rap. Suprising after years and years in prison by thd grace of God he was forgiven and freed. Only to go back and play with his band once again T. O. P. in Oakland ❗❗ What an amazing story he has had . R.I.P .Rickey...And God be with you..

"You say that I'm wasting my time, well it's my time baby" I 💗 it! Tower of Power should be in the Rock & Roll hall of Fame and it's sad that their not, just the horn section alone should be inducted. 💯🔥💗🎷

@@sonna2240 My fiance & I attended the memorial for Rick Stevens in Redwood City..it was very nice & uplifting. SF 49er wives had a fundraiser for the celebration of life & Rick's Band Love Power preformed w/ Lenny Williams. Rick was truly rehabilitated & asked former Malo singer Martin Cantu to remake " Sparkling in the sand" to a spirtual song. Martin got permission from TOP after Rick passed. The version is called " Foot prints in the Sand". I love old school music, SF Bay Area had many good groups. We had the best of music..up until the 90s.

He did and was the singer ideally suited to this group. I'm not sure about the tragic part, he committed murder got caught and went to prison. Isn't that the normal procedure?
@sharonadams758
@sharonadams758 2 жыл бұрын
@@craigedwards2940 The tragedy was not particularly in the crime he committed, but the fact that the trajectory of his life led him to it. Even after the success; it wasn't enough to quell the demons of his childhood/adulthood. This is the point I was making when I said tragic.

But you have to see the live 40th year anniversary concert version with Larry Braggs singing. That dude takes it to another level, plus so many great musicians on stage! Long live the TOWER of POWER!

This was the first of many powerhouse releases by Tower of Power (lead singer on this, Rick Stevens, was replaced by Lenny Williams, which launched his career) - "What Is Hip?", "Willing To Learn", "Clever Girl", "This Time It's Real", "Soul Vaccination", "Soul with a Capital S" and :So Very Hard To Go." In addition, the way their infamous horn section backed Labelle on "Get You Somebody New" took soul to another level! Please check deeper into their treasure chest of hits! You will not be disappointed!
