THE 70's thru the 90's had the best Disco, Dance and Pop Music ever. I am a Senior Citizen now and still listen every day to the oldies from the 70's all the way to the 90's. 18 years old in the 70's you were allow to Drink and go out to the Clubs and I was in the Clubs till I was 40 years old dancing and having a ball. till, I gave it all up to become a Pastor of a Pentecostal Church. But The best Secular music was from the 70's all the way to the 90's., I also love some old School rap music, was a big fan of Vanilla Ice.

*WHEN THIS SONG* took off Suge Knight came calling. Vanilla goes back to his hotel room with two bodyguards and finds Suge Knight and five of his guys already in the room, all packing heat. Knight told the bodyguards to stand back and STFU. Then he took Vanilla out onto the balcony where he could see the long drop down to the street, and had him sign a contract giving Knight a percentage cut of his $$$.

I am a Millennial and I have a very early memory of the 90s of being in a car seat, eating McDonald’s fries from a happy meal, and singing this song with my dad. The 90s in general was a great decade. It isn’t just nostalgia. It was the last decade of peace. I was in 4th grade and me and my sister were allowed to go downtown by our selves and hang out with our friends. The rule was we had to call home every couple of hours with a pay phone. I was born in 87. Everything changed after 9-11. I was a high school freshman. Kids, parents, politics, etc. 9-11 changed everything (to quote South Park). It just destroyed the emotional safety bubble we had in the 90s.

The 80's were the best. Im so happy I got to grow up in that era. People were free to just be. Movies, music, the different genres which were loved by everyone. People did what made them happy. There was no pressure to follow any particular type of thing. People appreciated life and being whoever they wanted to be. Not having cell phones, you would actually meet up face to face, or talk over a corded phone. Your attention was always on the present moment 💙

GEN X here.... It was 1990 when this first came out. His real name is Rob Van Winkle, born and raised in South Dallas, Texas. The song is about Miami, as he spent a lot of time there too. He had a couple of songs on the same album "To The Extreme" that were pretty good, but "Ice Ice Baby" took on a life of it's own, and is still a hot record 43 years later. lol It was a huge dance song, we loved to dance in the 80's lol, but we also listened to "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, who was sampled in this song. He was a huge lawsuit. lol back in 80's and 90's, we were just enjoying life, definitely living to the extreme.

Never skip the 80's. The 80's were amazing! When I first heard this song, it was when it came out in 1990. I was a freshman in high school. Life was very different. We didn't have cell phones or the internet (the internet existed but most people didn't have access until around 1994 or 1995 - and even then it took hours to load anything.) Music was everything to us Gen Xers. Our parents weren't usually home - they were always working and we brought ourselves up. Music and Nintendo were our life.

Another "white" rap song you should hear is "Informer" by Snow. It was the 90s when it came out. You might like it. Also, life during this time was fun and simple. There was no social media, cell phones were new and not everyone had one, but the music was amazing. You have to remember that this song came out around the time that Tupac, Biggie, Eric B. and Rakim, LL Cool J, NWA, Dr. Dre, Snoop, etc. were also on the radio. So this song was OK. It didn't really stand out in the way it might now. It was one of many.

I was born in ‘79 and this song played at my 11th ice skating birthday party and we all went wild! We had no social media, no mobile phones, no internet, and life was the best! I’m in the UK and when we got to a friends house we had to do what was known as “3 rings” to let our parents know we’d arrived and were safe. You just go to the old phone on the wall, dial home, let it ring 3 times and like magic our parents would know we were fine 😂 Good times 🎉

I was a sophomore in high school when this came out, it was a huge hit. This was released in 1990 but didn't go crazy on the radio till later in the year. This was not an 80's song but yes the 80's were amazing! His song "Play That Funky Music" hit #4 on Billboard and was a 1989 song. So he had 2 top-ten songs. Play That Funky Music was his first release and it was re-released with the success of Ice Ice Baby and it did much better the second time around. So, the long answer to your question is he wasn't a one-hit wonder and he even had his own movie "Cool As Ice" in 1991.

I was in High School when this song was popular and I had a friend who had an extensive knowledge and appreciation of music with a collection to match. He was invited to DJ at one of our high school dances once and he purposefully messed with everyone by playing Under Pressure by Queen & Bowie instead of this song. The beat started and everyone got all hyped and then quickly became confused and disappointed when the singing began. It was a legendary moment in my small town high school experience. I think about it every time I hear Under Pressure play on the radio and it still does, because it's a much better song.

The 80s were the BEST DAYS EVER!!!! The music, the clothes, the attitudes, the world! You CANNOT skip the 80s! If I could go back and start in 1980, I would do it in a heartbeat. We all went to the clubs n danced together. Nobody cared about race, religion, any if that. Were jyst all happy and gad great times together. No Internet n cell phones. People talked to wach other, actually dated unstead of just hooking up, met up with groups if friends for a good time, no craziness, not the BAD KIND, like today.

80’s has the best music. This song came out my senior yr of HS. Had to laugh at my daughter one day yrs ago walking around singing the chorus thinking she’d heard a new song. 🤪 He now flips houses and sells them-even had a show on HGTV. Very nice expensive houses

Michael Jackson really took off in the 80s. I recorded on my VHS vanilla Ice and MC Hammer they were both number 1 hits at the same time and would practice their dance moves and dance it off at parties. I had so much fun hours dancing and not being stuck watching a phone for hours. This takes me back such nostalgia . Great video man.

He was pretty much a one hit wonder even though he technically wasn't a one hit wonder. Also, songs like this fell out of favor very quickly back then. Everyone would love them, and then they'd get overplayed like crazy and then suddenly one day everyone's a hater. It's good to see songs gain a second life with young people enjoying them all over again.
