Oddly enough, this was a song he wrote about his ex-wife about reconciling their rocky marriage. Not long after this song he met Amy and left his wife ! 😮 ps. Vince's father had an idea for a song for Vince to write, and he hounded him to write it for years. Vince finally got around to it a few years after his father passed away. He co wrote it with fellow singer/songwriter (and ex husband of Roseanne Cash) Rodney Crowell. There is two different versions of the song... One with just Vince, and the official video, with Vince and Rodney. The official video is absolutely hilarious and shows both singer's humor... There is also one with Vince, live, on stage (Without Rodney) where he tells the story about how he came about writing it.... AND how he explained it to his wife, Amy Grant!! I recommend watching both, because one will introduce you to Rodney Crowell, and the other gives you the background of the song. The song is called "It's Hard to kiss the lips at night that chew your @$$ all day long" I'm sure he made his father proud.

He has several songs for his wife Amy Grant; When my Amy Prays is his most recent Grammy winner. Their daughter, Corrina Grant Gill, sings it as When My Mama Prays. Beautiful song. You should check out Amy Grant. She is a 2022 Kennedy Center Honoree. She is one of the pioneers of the Contemporary Christian Music genre, being the first to win a Grammy, have a platinum album and to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as one in Nashville. Vince Gill's net worth is $30 million, but Amy Grant's is $65 million.
